I thought it was very good. I thought it was intense, riveting and action packed. In a way, Taye Diggs' character had some elements of Jack Bauer....A tragic hero. Now I'm going to start thinking that Brett Hopper is the black Jack Bauer.

Looking forward to the next 11 weeks. This is definitely a good change of pace from Lost.

I agree. I always like shows/movies where things are way beyond the grasp and control of the main character.

And for some reason I've always been interested in shows/movies that take place in one day, so things like Day Break and 24 really work for me.

I'm surprised to see no mention of Run Lola Run ... it's as much an influence as Groundhog Day, perhaps more so. Much better start than I'd anticipated.

Considering that Lost was averaging around 16 million, that is a pretty big drop. But I don't think there's any chance that ABC will cancel the series before it's time.

Yeah, those ratings should be plenty good to keep the show on the air until the conclusion. Honestly, they probably beat LOST repeats by enough that I wouldn't be totally shocked to see a FX-like order of a 10-13 episode second season if the numbers stay level or increase. Of course, they will likely decrease without the strong lead-in and due to people sampling and not liking the show.

Yeah I agree, if the show gets a 2nd season, it will most likely be only 13 episodes. Which is good, a nice tight season like that will eliminate alot of bad filler episodes, which 24 seems to go through every year. That scenario could fall into place if ABC decides to move Lost to January.

From what I've heard, ABC is pleased with the ratings. It's better than repeats of Lost does, and based on what I've seen in this thread and others around the web, I think word of mouth will definitely help grow this show. Plus, they would be stupid to cancel a serialized show like this, especially one that is planned as a short run; they would completely lose the trust of any audience they want to get behind a new show.

What would be great would be for an exec to have the genius idea that two 14-18 episode shows (one for the fall and one for the spring) would be an ideal way to map things out. Cut the LOST order to like 18 and leave people wanting more of the tighter and better show, and give this show or something like it the fall slot.

Yes, I know I'm in dreamland. These shows are just a product to the execs, so they want either the "standard order" or none at all because that's what they're used to.

I liked it, but I agree, without TiVo I would have gone insane with all the commercials.

I hope that Brett (had to look up his name) realizes in the next episode or two that he doesn't have to try to save everyone every day, and that he should spend some time figuring out who the major players are, what their motives are, their weaknesses, etc. before attempting to put it all together by trying to save his girlfriend, his sister and her kids, the girl who gets by a bus, etc.

This would be an awesome video game.

I thought about that, but it's not really comparable, unless Taye Diggs starts protecting cows from ghosts and playing in a band. I meant the overall atmosphere of the show (like 24) combined with the 'restarting day' concept where damage and knowledge (conversation trees) carry over but items don't.

I liked it however 2 hours was too long.

Keep in mind folks, it wasn't a designed 2 hour premiere. They ran episodes 1 and 2 back to back. Which is the same thing 24 will do on January 14th and 15th.

It was a really poor choice. I think that's what we're saying, and I think we're blaming ABC and not the producers.

It was a poor choice because the concept of this show is a little much to spend that much time with in one sitting. It's a little too taxing to keep repeating the day over that many times. I'm not a fan of 24 and don't watch it, so I can't really speak to the rest of your question.

I think both Groundhog Day and 12:01 did as many or more repetitions in a 2-hour span than this show did, and this show had much more variation in each day's events.

Personally, I thought it was a thrilling and intriguing debut. I'll be watching next week and probably for the 10 weeks after that unless the show goes really downhill.

i like the idea of an action version of ground hog day. i thought it was pretty good show. taye diggs is no great actor but with this show he doesn't have to be. i just hope they keep up this high level of violence like 24 has. i liked 12:01 and ground hog day but action show with the same concept is a neat twist. i also like the twist with his injuries. 13 episodes is the right amount to end the day otherwise it would get ridiculous.

I missed this first time around, but based on some of the feedback and reviews that I have read, I might check it out.

Those movies resolved themselves in two hours. I'm happy to digest this show 44 minutes at a time as we march toward 572 minutes worth of season, but 88 minutes at a time were too much for me. It sounds as though I'm not alone.

But at least it will only happen this one time. The rest of the season will have 42 minutes or so episodes.

As long as the writing stays above average and they don't take the easy way out with solutions, then I think this show could come back for another season. That is, if more people start watching the show.
