Bingo. This show is losing me fast. One or two more like tonight and I start checking to see what's on TVLand instead.

That Petrelli shirt is HORRIBLE.

Of all the things to make a shirt out of from "Heroes", thats the lamest.

And asshat cop was right, mind-readers wife is hot. I'd bang her.

I like this show but it seems to have all of the depth of characterization and plotting of your average Sesame Street episode. Every plot point is exceedingly obviously, predictable and hammered home with the subtlety of a bulldozer.

Secondly, like Lost, the writers clearly have no idea where this is all going. Every character's reactions are purely driven by the needs of the plot, the rules are clearly being made up as we go along. People drop in and out of the story depending on needs. It's like watching a cartoon where a character is trapped and draws a door to escape through.

Also, the show is developing at an absolute glacial pace, it's almost as if the producers don't think the audience is quite sharp enough to follow the developments so they slow everything down to a crawl.

I'll still watch it because the core idea is interesting and some of the characters remain compelling, I just hope it starts gaining some momentum quickly.

One last thing: is anyone else completely sick of the SFX of Hiro's power? Yeah, WE GET IT, HE CAN STOP TIME. Do we need a flashy "bullet time" effect and then a reaction shot of Hiro's wonderment of his own accomplishment every friggen time?

Like a lot of things on this show, it's getting old.

That was a joke, right?

We're a handful of episodes in and have been through a ton of stuff so far. I'll give you that Prison Break may be faster developing than this show, but that would be just about it. I don't think Heroes is beyond reproach, but the above complaint makes me wonder what show actually satisfies you.

Wow, you should have thought of that before you named yourself after his character.

I actually think it's moving at pretty decent pace, but I think it suffers from the same issues that Lost has had recently -- too many characters in too many different places doing too many different things. That, by its very nature, slows down the story progress because there's only so much you can cram into 42 minutes of program when you're following so many different plot threads.

It looks like Heroes is going to do the same thing as Lost as well -- introduce even MORE characters into the mix, while we're still waiting for existing stuff to be resolved/explained.

It's too much. And not from an audience/attention span perspective -- it's just a basic limitation of hour-long, weekly drama.

Are you sure you aren't confusing Heroes w/ LOST??

I think they are moving pretty darn quick. All the Heroes are using/have used their powers. They are already crossing paths towards whatever showdown is looming. My biggest fear was them moving too slow, and IMO, they are moving at just the right pace....so far.

They could flesh the show out even better if they would quit showing 6 minutes of commercials after only 6 or 7 minutes of the actual episode, like a game of tit for tat. It's sickening and almost enough to make me just wait for the DVD. Almost. I watch it with my sons. They love it the show, too.

Oh, I have the HD DVR that Cox cable rents. Works great, and we use it every single day. I love it. But when Heroes is on, I'm impatient to see it, and my kids have to go to bed right when it's over, so it sort of ruins the night to have to wait and watch it later or the next night or so. But I do record them anyway and usually rewatch them at least once. It's beautiful in HD, too.

But I guess I'm just bitching. I haven't watched many network shows in the last few years, but it sure seems to me that the number of commercials has quadripled.

to get back on topic, somewhat, Since we ALL know someone in a group of heroes always dies...I wonder who gets to die first? My guess would be the Burning Man, then maybe Peter Petrelli...and his death would cement a bond between at least several of them...SOME kind of way.

Start watching the show 15 minutes after it starts. You'll be able to FF through all the commercials, and you'll finish watching the show about the same time it ends.

I actually appreciate how Hiro (and the others) are still in awe of their own new powers. If the normal slob on the street were to suddenly discover that he could fly or read minds or stop time, I would figure he'd be pissing himself a few times before fully getting the hang of it. We see what Hiro becomes, but we don't know how far in the future that is. Enjoy the journey.

I can't believe everyone didn't like this episode. Not as good as the others but still cool!

I get what you're saying here, but isn't that in line with his character? He has that wide-eyed wonderment about almost everything that's "new" to him, so it makes perfect sense that he would still be really in awe of this whole experience. That's what makes it so striking about how he becomes the warrior we see in the future. It's such a huge change.

Funny you should mention that. After all of the positive press I tried watching the first season of Lost when they re-ran it. After about 6 or 8 episodes I completely "lost" interest and just couldn't make myself watch any more, and for basically the same reasons I am quickly losing interest in Heroes.

To be fair, this is probably the time freeze with the most action in it. I mean it's frozen in the middle of an explosion. Considering that Hiro's last few dozen time freezes were for re-arranging poker hands, It's not too surprising that he'd marvel at a hubcap hovering in mid-air.

I just love how Hiro concentrates when he uses his power. I hope that they don't get rid of that aspect.

I'm surprised that I still want to watch this show as the development has been so slow and they haven't really given that many hints of what's to come.
