Is this all about X-Files/Alias backlash? I was never into either show, but I understand that both screwed over the audience by not answering the questions raised. If the LOST folks screw us like that in the end, I'll be pissed. I'm just banking on them not doing that.

If I wanted to be a passive consumer, I'd watch Grey's Housewives or American Idol. This show seems to be meant to be thought about...hence all the wild speculation.

I'd hedge that bet with some tempered expectations if I were you. They've done nothing so far to indicate that they plan to tie up many of the loose ends. I'm sure there will be some overarching explaination for everything, but I can't imagine that it would be satisfying.

Well I guess everyone gets different things out of a show like Lost. The thing that I enjoy(ed) the most with Lost was analyzing all the clues and trying to figure out what is going on. For me, that was what set it apart from most other shows. It has been very successful in creating it own mythology, which I found very intriguing.

I'm still enjoying the show. Just not to the degree in which I used to.

Walt's "powers" was one of the most interesting aspects of Season One, and now he is off the show. And it was for obvious reasons, but did the producers not realize that the actor was going to out-age his character when they created the role. Knowing this would be the case, they should have come up with a nice short story arc his character. As it is, it felt thrown together with no real sense of closure.

Libby's character was killed before we got to find out why she was in the crazy house. Sure, we might find out more about her in Hurley's flashback, but since she is dead, who really cares what her story is. Her death just seemed like an afterthought.

And Season Two seemed to indicate that the introuction of the Tailies was going to change everything. There was lots of screen time devoted to them and getting them to the other side of the island and now they are all gone except for Eko (who, incidently, is the only interesting character left, so I guess it was for a good cause.)
Sigh, again. Things disappear for awhile, only to be answered later on. Want proof? The polar bears. Everybody thought they would never be touched on again, but they've been featured pretty heavily in season three so far. Patience, young grasshoppa.

Why hedge? I'm on the ride. If the producers and the network screw me like that, I won't be back any time soon.

If you listen to the podcasts on a regular basis, it's pretty clear that they intend, over time, to do just that.

We don't. Hopefully, more will be said of him when we learn more about the Other's intentions.

Well I did have the ads in mind when I wrote what I did. But the show did devote a lot of time to those people. Ana Lucia was being played up as a romantic interest for Jack, but that never happened. Libby was being paired with Hurley, and that fell apart. I was expecting more of an intergration with the two groups... a joining of forces if you will. But it never really happened. But I really can't blame a show for not going in the direction I expected. So whatever.

Well, we never got a back story on Libby at all. We got two for Ana Lucia. We had what appeared to be an interesting introduction to a backstory for her. But one never materialized. I honestly get the feeling she was written out of the show due to her behavior off the set.

I just feel like the Others plot arc is getting dragged out a bit much. Kinda like the button pushing from last season. We really aren't learning anything knew about them. At this point, I just discard things that say because, at this point I feel that they are just messig with the Losties.

They're just criticisms. I don't know why people feel that Lost is above being scrutinized. If people come in here and point out problems with the show, they are bashed and told to stop watching it. I have very high expectations for this show (moreso than any other). Overall, I am very pleased with the show. I just feel that it has had some mis-steps along the way.

Good point. I have high hopes that most things will be resolved. I also realize that not every question will be answered. And I'm fine with that too.

It is being scrutinized. This is all coming at a time when viewership is down because some of the folks who have been watching because LOST was the flavor of the week have found something else (probably Ugly Betty or Heroes) to buzz about around the water cooler.

Trust me, I feel the same way...about a whole different part of the show's history. I don't think it's cool to tell people not to watch just because they don't like something, either. I guess at this point it's best just to hope the show goes on to satisfy all of us with the next two shows and then really brings it in the spring.

Nobody told anyone to just stop watching the show if they don't like something. The only person to mention stop watching the show was chess himself in his original post when he said "I've got MAYBE an episode or two left in me."

And even if they notice it, why would they give a small rocky island they have no way of getting to a second thought? Tiny little islands off the coast are the norm on larger islands, there's no reason for anyone to really consider it when they have food and water on their island.

Yes their are bears, the others, the security system etc., but still doesn't change the fact that the other island probably looks a bit barren from the main island (given the rocky side that faces it--where Ben took Sawyer) and that they have no way of getting there).

Thanks for getting away from the threadcrapping. I think the fuselage camp isn't appointed towards Hydra island. That's why Tom drew a line that Jack and co. couldn't cross -- he knew that if they crossed and explored the other side of their island, the Hydra island may have been sighted.

I think the line in the sand was more about creating a false objective for the Oceanic folks to focus on.

If the producers knew there would be a 37 page discussion about whether there are 2 islands or not, I bet they wouldnt go that route and drag Sawyer up a mountain.

Let's move on. Shall we?

I'm now waiting for Jack to find out that Larry Brown is the new Knicks coach. I'm sure he'll be pretty excited about that as well.

Maybe they'll speed the pace up and he'll find out that the White Sox won the World Series, too. I know that really blew my mind when it happened.

I agree this season is better than Season 2. Sawyer rocks. I so can't wait until the others get theirs. They need a good beatdown and a rapedown.

Can't wait to see Sayid and Locke come to the rescue

I understand your frustration, but I think that there's something BIG in store for Walt. He's seemed way too important in the first and second seasons for the creative team to just write out of the show. Because this season seems to be, thematically, all about the Others, we'll probably learn why they were so eager to get rid of him. There's gotta be a reason that they were so frightened of him.

If not, I quit. I'll toss my hatch hieroglyphics t-shirt and Groucho's clue notebooks in a fire. Walt's way too important to be written out.

I do, though, agree that the producers don't seem to care about tying up all the loose ends, though. Are we supposed to assume that the "Adam and Eve" skeletons in the caves are the DeGroots? I imagine that since that set has been struck, we'll never see that resolved. They also don't seem to have ANY idea what to do with Aaron.

Would like to know more about the "Dark Territory" on the island that the Smoke Monster protects, where Rousseau's crew all caught the disease, and where Arzt blew up. I'd also like to know why it only seems like four of the Dharma stations were completed, and the others, like the one that the tailies found, were unfinished. I imagine that both tie in pretty closely with what the others are doing on the island.

I also can't wait to see Locke, Eko, Jin, and Sayid do some Others-beating.

cheers,

-the Jesus

1) who is penny and what did she discuver at the end of season 2?
2) who is kelvin?
3) what hatch(es?) did the tailes discover other than the one they were using for a shelter? where did they discover a glass eye?

thanks in advance!

Penny was the lady looking for Desmond and had people in some outpost in a cold environment listening for an energy burst, like the EMP blast that happened when the button didn't get pushed.
