I wondered about that. It looks like an island on the map due to the lettering, but I thought it might be a peninsula. From what I saw on Wikipedia, it looks like there are two additional smaller islands with no population and about three islets.

I was thinking the cable that Sayid/Hurley found going into the ocean might have went to the other island, but they would've surely seen the island in that case. But it can't be leading to the underwater hatch either, since that's apparently very near the 2nd island. So WTF is the cable?

So, in conclusion, the Isle of Man, which is located right in the middle of the British Isles, is near other islands.

Duh - they're the Einsteins of the bear community, of course they can swim.

I want to know when the survivors are going to run into the hippie commune from The Beach. I bet even the Others are afraid of them.

[QUOTE=johnnysd]This episode seems to have ruined my personal new theory that the Others stay on the Island because it grants them immortality.QUOTE]

I think we knew that after Ethan and Goodwin died.

Maybe johnny wasn't convinced they were dead for whatever reason.

What I got from this episode:

1. There are 2 islands. It appears that the survivors and the Other's village are on one island and the Hydra station/Animal Experimentation facility is on the second much smaller island.

2. The Others apparently have a submarine. (Ben: "The sub's back.")

3. This is what Tom (Mr. Friendly) says as Sawyer wakes up at the torture room, according to the closed captioning: "...two days since the sky turned purple. We've been blind, all our coms are down and I can't get'em back up, and in case you forgot, Colleen's in critical..."

Which makes me think... why did Benjamin (a.k.a. "Henry Gale") want Locke to stop pressing the button? Obviously he knows something that the other Others don't. Also, the result of the Swan hatch implosion is that the Others lost their radar (blind) and communications, perhaps with the outside world.

I really think that Othersville is on the other island with the Hydra station. That would explain how Rousseau has never found them, how Ethan could kill from the beach and how the Others could reach Desmond's boat before Sayid and Jin found them. And since they have subs, making it from Othersville to where the fuselage/tail end crashed in an hour seems much more feasible.

I think it's possible there could even be 3 different islands.

As far as the "run" talk, I think it's taking that a bit literally if people really think they meant running by that. Has nobody else here heard the term run used in a way that means hurry?

The only thing stupider than LOST is all the speculation about LOST.

It's just one after another, and not only are most of them never answered, but I don't think half this crap will ever be addressed again. Walt's abilities...forgotten...the cable...who knows...the f'ing talking bird...beats me...the smoke monster...what smoke monster? It's just a complete joke to me at this point, and I've got MAYBE an episode or two left in me.

Ugh.

Thanks for declaring to the internet the fact that you are on the brink of giving up on this show. We really truly care. Next.

There was a talking bird? I guess there has been so much weird shit in Lost that I'm starting to forget some of it.

It's the "Hurley Bird," and whether it actually said "Hurley" is up to debate, but it never said anything else.

I think you would expect by now that some things will disappear for awhile to be addressed later on. It amazes me when people complain about this type of things, yet it's been the same thing for the entire run of the show. It's nothing new.

No, there's also the people who claim to hate "Lost," who threadcrap every week here about how awful the show is, and yet still continue to watch "Lost."

It's getting monotonous.

Well, I think X-Files problem was that they just wouldn't resolve anything and just kept throwing new shit out there all of the time. By the time they did finally resolve anything, it was either ridiculous or you had stopped caring years before.

Look at Samantha Mulder...
Spoiler:
First, she was abducted by aliens. Then it was the government. Then it was a pedophile serial killer. Then it was the cigarette smoking man. Then, they finally reveal she was taken away by fairies.

Give me a fucking break...

Maybe they did something else to Sawyer? To keep him off the trail, what other things could have possibly been done to him that required them to cut him open? Why else is he there?

If an island twice the size of Alcatraz was out in the ocean, it would be the size of that red island that I've drawn in their bay. Guys, an island twice the size of Alcatraz is 0.05 square miles. It's not very big. It's possible they have a beach, the underground compound, the zoo/cage area, the work area, and mountains preventing you from seeing the view.
This was helpful in getting an idea of the proportions involved. It is not totally unrealistic for an island that size to be overlooked. Especially considering we know that the Others have always made an effort to keep people away from a certain part of the island. I think this second island explains that motivation.

I explained why I'm starting to hate the show, which means my post is not a threadcrap. But if there's no room for criticism in your world, please, just put me on your ignore list.

And yeah, I continue to watch because it's still the "type" of television I like and like to support. It's just like there's some new random thing every week that makes no sense whatsoever, and there's simply nothing they could come up with at this point to explain all this crap.

It's x-files relived...and sorry to be monotonous, but it's frustrating to see a show with so much potential fall victim to one forgotten red herring after another. But I guess the strategy works, because there I am...every week, hoping they'll answer something.

I understand Chess's frustration. It is aggravating to see several intersting plot lines going nowhere with no promise of resolution.

Walt's "powers" was one of the most interesting aspects of Season One, and now he is off the show. And it was for obvious reasons, but did the producers not realize that the actor was going to out-age his character when they created the role. Knowing this would be the case, they should have come up with a nice short story arc his character. As it is, it felt thrown together with no real sense of closure.

Libby's character was killed before we got to find out why she was in the crazy house. Sure, we might find out more about her in Hurley's flashback, but since she is dead, who really cares what her story is. Her death just seemed like an afterthought.

And Season Two seemed to indicate that the introuction of the Tailies was going to change everything. There was lots of screen time devoted to them and getting them to the other side of the island and now they are all gone except for Eko (who, incidently, is the only interesting character left, so I guess it was for a good cause.)

Overall, the sense of wonder is evaporating as we spend more time with the Others. We really aren't learning anything about them since we know that they are very deceitful and mis-leading. And until we learn more about their motivation, I really don't find them very interesting.

Don't get me wrong. I love this show and I'm not one of those people that wants all the answers RIGHT NOW!! But I am getting to a point where I really don't care if they do give answers, because I am losing interest. This used to be my most highly anticipated show of the week. Now... not so much.

Who said he's off the show? He may not be on the show right now (or in the near future) but he and Michael will be back i'm sure.

the fun of the show for me is the mystery. I love the fact that the writers don't answer too many questions (although many mysteries have been answered.

I'm loving this season so far!

What makes anybody think we actually need Walt to answer the question of what was going on with him?

While I respect the right of everyone to have an opinion, the above discussion seems very weak to me. The ads may have suggested that the tail people would "change everything", but I don't think the show made that promise at all. There is a reason those people weren't our original protagonists. I don't understand the Libby criticism at all. Suggesting that we should have learned why she was crazy before she was dead makes no sense. Complaining that we aren't learning about The Others because they're liars similarly makes no sense to me. That list of complaints sounds like a desperate attempt to justify an opinion, not the source of the opinion.

I have a solution to this: just watch the show. Enjoy it. Stop trying to analyze it. Let it take you where it wants to take you.
