The Others live on Island 1. Where they are right now with Jack, Sawyer, and Kate is on Island 2, which we saw last night.

I realize the show is shot there, but it's not like that is where they are on the show itself.
It's my understanding that Hawaii is fairly representative of the way islands naturally occur. I'm not aware of many instances where there is just one island out somewhere all by itself. If I'm wrong about that, I'm sure somebody will point it out.

Where are the other Oceanic survivors (plus Desmond and Russo)? Is it Island 1 or perhaps an Island 3?

I still think everyone is taking this at face value. Ben had literally just told Sawyer all they put in him was doubt and then that, upon seeing the second island, there was nowhere to run. I still think they're conning him and trying to break him.

I think when they tell you that they're conning you and then tell you the next thing, it's probably the truth. That's the misdirection play. It also seems to me to fit better with the other known elements.

I don't know, I keep going back to this image and I can't see it as 2 separate islands. At least where the village and the tail landed. And since we know the fuselage and the tail are on the same island, I'd say all 3 of those locales are co-islandic (Firefox tells me that's not a word, but whatever).

Now, maybe where they currently isn't actually the same island, I have no way to disprove that, but I don't think the Others "live" somewhere other than the village.

I don't know. That, in and of itself, would seem like pretty good justification for bringing up another island. Even if it wouldn't improve their chances of rescue, you'd think they might want to check it out in the hopes that it might not contain polar bears, some mysterious 'sickness', an intelligent black cloud/security system that tries to pull people underground and a bunch of sinister assholes that like to drag people off into the night.

Is 'Michael' still in the opening credits? I'm wondering if he's gone for good.

The village the others live in is not the same place as where they have got Sawyer, Kate and Jack locked up.

Harold Pernauseasdjaklfjdlafd (Sp?). the actor who plays Michael, confirmed that he is not currently scheduled to tape any additional episodes but has been asked to remain available.

The Lost island is very big. It's the island where all the Lost characters are as well as where the town of the Others is. An island twice the size of Alcatraz is tiny: enough to contain their town and that's about it (see the yellow square).

If an island twice the size of Alcatraz was out in the ocean, it would be the size of that red island that I've drawn in their bay. Guys, an island twice the size of Alcatraz is 0.05 square miles. It's not very big. It's possible they have a beach, the underground compound, the zoo/cage area, the work area, and mountains preventing you from seeing the view.

This episode seems to have ruined my personal new theory that the Others stay on the Island because it grants them immortality.

Liked the flashback. It hinted that Sawyer sold people out in the past but would not sell out Kate.

I kind of figured they got rid of him and Walt to just pass off their storyline and not have to deal with the actor for Walt's aging fucking up the storyline where each season only covers 20-30 days or whatever.

Just throwing this out there. What if the island is mobile? One storyline that hasn't come up again is the rising tide. Maybe they can raise and lower it too?
If it was mobile, it could help explain why a Nigerian plane was there along with a plane from Australia. And, Henry told Michael, once you leave you'll never find the island again.

I think we have to start taking Ben literally when he says things. For instance, when he said 'patience Jack, patience', maybe he really said 'patients Jack, patients' as in to operate on.
There was something he said just recently (maybe last season) that everyone had a theory on what it meant, and in reality it was exactly what he said. But, I can't remember what the heck it was.

I mentioned this awhile back, but I'm following this show for the whole ride. To me, it can do no wrong. I have no problem with the filler episodes/back stories.

I loved Ben's line about having to con a con in order to gain their respect... we're just better at it. I almost expected Sawyer to smile.

It was nice to see Javier on the show, maybe we'll get some more Felicity/Alias alum.

Also, isn't it a little soon to be complaining about the show going no where? No X-files fans here? They managed to answer nothing for 9 seasons, we're still very early. Lost will remain a show that drives you crazy for most of the season and then blow you away with one episode. Its part of its charm.

X-Files answered questions all the time...the problem was that they answered the same questions in multiple, mutually exclusive ways.

I absolutely hated the first season finale and wasn't thrilled with the way the very early part of season 2 went, but I see nothing wrong with this season so far. The way I see it, we're learning a ton of answers about The Others by getting to see so much of them.

Is the problem that people expected the Penny story to be pursued in the early stages of this season? I didn't, partially because the spoiler talk suggested it wouldn't be.

If, in fact, the place where Jack is being held is underwater then I think we can assume that there are probably underwater tunnels from island to island. This is part of a huge compound like the Pentagon. Maybe all of the hatches are connected with secret doors and underground walkways. Or, they have a sub. :-D

Isn't that the same as not answering the question? No wait, don't answer that your head may explode.

What it comes down to is, both Lost and the X-files are frustratingly good shows.

Sure
the Isle of Man is a good one, stuck between Ireland and Wales/England.

This map makes it look like there are at least two small islands off of the Isle of Man.

Have to agree, this season has been great so far. The third episode was a bit weak, but the other three have been fantastic IMO.

I only see one, the Calf of Man. Dreswick Point is part of the Langness Peninsula.
