One question... where have Edna and Irv been? Not that they need to be in every episode or even that I miss them, but I can't remember the last time I saw either of them.

story 05-10-05 05:11 PM

This show is still on? Is that girl still really hot? I should catch this again, it was pretty good first season.

I was thinking the same thing, especially Irv. They list them as regular cast memembers, after all. I would imagine Edna would be a great one to put bratty Ephram in his place.

I miss Irv's narration.

When Rose announced she was paralyzed and the end credits came up on the screen, I was like "Damn you, Berlanti!"

Next week's episode looks crazy.

Spoiler:
I knew that Andy would be brought into the storyline of Rose's surgery eventually, I just didn't think it would be this fast. I expected him to say that he couldn't do it. He's already killed Amy's boyfriend, killing her mom definitely won't his relationship with Ephram.

Good grief, break out the tissues, this episode unleashed the floodgates, mainly the goodbye scene between Ephram and Delia, and Rose quietly asking Andy to be her surgeon and Andy being conflicted by the situation because of how previous surgeries have gone with people he knew beforehand.

I could have done without the Jake and Nina scenes, though.

Bright has really fallen for Hannah. Harold is a mess over Rose's condition getting worse, and facing the prospects of her getting worse, or not pulling through the surgery.

Ephram gets a unique graduation gift from the grave by his mom, and her backup plan is amazingly appropo for Ephram's situation, as he takes a flight to England to sort out his life.

Amen. Their whole plot line just felt a little out of place in this heavy episode, and also didn't really ring true of how independent Nina seems to be. I thought for sure Jake and Andy were going to offer to buy the place at the table (when they were saying goodbye to Momma Joy's) and offer to let Nina run it. She would then turn them down and go secure a loan from the bank to buy it herself (unrealistic I know). I dunno, while it has it's moments, the Jake and Nina relationship never really clicked with me so the move by Jake feels like a boyfriend trying to hard (since regardless of his second thoughts he bought the place for her).

So I never really get outwardly emotional when watching tv on either end of the specturm. Unless something is uproariously funny I don't laugh out loud and the saddest of scenes don't really get any outward emotion from me. But last night during the scene when Amy is dressed for her graduation and Harold starts talking explaining why her mother and brother won't get to see walk and starts to break up? The closest I've come to crying while watching a television show ever. It was surreal. I'm sitting here like are my alergies acting up? Great, great scene and fantastic acting.

Also the actress who plays Delia doesn't get enough love. She does a really great job especially considering her age. She acts circles around all the 7th Heaven kids. I wouldn't mind if she gets a few b or c storylines next year as I've enjoyed the few she has had up until now (minor as they might have been).

The actress who plays Rose is also doing a great job. Here scenes with Andy last night were really moving. I love the line she had to Andy explaining why she wanted him as her surgeon "Because you love my family as much as I do." I really hope they don't end up killing her off.

These last couple of the show have been rocky (thanks to the Ephram bullish) but this storyline really is putting a nice strong cap on a pretty damn good season.

Ayre 05-17-05 05:27 AM

I agree, Jake and Nina are the weakest sub-plot. I really hope Jake will bail and he doesn't come back next season. He is intentionally out of place.
Started a bit slow, but definately picked up. The emotional scenes were very strong. Especially the Ephram / Delia.

By the end of the show my eyes were swollen and red. As I get older this seems to happen more frequently ;-P I have learned to embrace it and just let it happen.

Jadzia 05-17-05 02:02 PM

It was a little surreal hearing "Mary Alice" reading the letter to Ephram. ;)

I agree about the moment when Harold starts to cry-- I lost it. What a fine acting job, as you see the composure leave his face and the despair takes over in a flood of emotions. Very well done. That actor deserves an Emmy nod, but he'll never get it since Everwood is a WB show.

I guess we had better enjoy this show now, since the WB seems intent to kill it next season by putting it on Thursday at 9pm.

calhoun07 05-17-05 03:13 PM

I am upset about the schedule change and also about the fact that WB seems to be avoiding any discussion about putting season two of this show on DVD. Are they trying to broom this show?

boredsilly 05-17-05 05:34 PM

Thurs at 9? WTF? It's perfect where it is.

Yeah, a family drama after a family drama where it is at now. What's the problem? Looks like WB is putting a court drama after 7th Heaven now? WTF????

Chauzer 05-18-05 03:51 AM

Wow, amazing episode.

The scene with Delia and Ephram was very good. And great idea to bring up a gift from Ephram's mom.

A big  for the season finale. I been watching this season on and off but decided to catch the season finale and I'm glad that I watched it. Not many shows have the same level of acting and writing that this show display.

In regards to the day change, I don't like it and it seems that WB is screwing one of the best shows that they have.

I thought next week was the season finale?

As I said in my initial post, I haven't been watching this show regularly so I may had been mistaken of this episode being the season finale. Since it had a "to be continued" message at the end of the episode, I thought this was the season finale.

I made the same mistake, but then I heard the announcer to say they were going to show scenes from next week's episode. I was all prepared that was the season finale, and all those were the cliffhanging threads. After going through all of that, I just was blown away I have to go through even more next week!

B.A. 05-21-05 09:57 PM

Vivien Cardone, who plays Delia, did a great job w/ that goodbye scene between her and Ephram.

That scene between Harold and Amy before graduation was excellent. And then Rose and Andy. Damn, they were on a roll there for a sec or two.

And I agree - the Jake/Nina storyline seems totally out of place right now and it kind of annoys the shit out of me.

I still can't stand Ephram.

My mom gave me that book, Seuss's Oh, The Places You'll Go, when I graduated college - she wrote me a note inside the cover, too.

Patman 05-22-05 12:14 AM

I noticed that Anakin Skywalker (played by Hayden Christensen) and Ephram have similar speech patterns.

BTW, anyone think Vivien Cardone looks like a child version of Amy Acker?

uhftv 05-22-05 12:43 AM

It was great having all these new episodes back to back it was almost worth having that one month of Summerland and another month of reruns.

I dont know what's keeping the Season 2 dvd. Usually they wait to see how well the 1st season does before continuing, and I actually held off buying because I thought it was too soon, but seeing as how every season seems to get better, and the scheduling for next fall may be a bad sign, I've made watching, as well as getting the dvd set, a priority.

I hope they rerun this whole season all summer long so I can catch up.

Ayre 05-23-05 09:03 PM

Let me be the first and quite possibly the only person to say:

Extremely poor. Predictable down to the final scene. The last 2 minutes were the only heart felt moments in the show.

The only thing that could have made this worse would be a reappearance of Anne Heche, who single handedly crippled the first 10 episodes.

Nina was great.

mmmmm Amy's twins

B.A. 05-23-05 09:26 PM

I'm gonna smother you w/ my ass-cheeks if you say a word!

calhoun07 05-23-05 10:18 PM

I liked the fact they didn't try to rock us with over the top drama, and it was a nice way to end it, instead of a major cliffhanger, like will Rose live or won't she? The thing that surprised me is Ephram didn't even make one appearance, not even having him call or email about Rose.
