Solid show. Always love the monologues and Amy's letter was no exception. Best one so far still is Ephram's Tragic Flaw essay. But Irv's intros are also always very good.

I loved the episode, and this one really made me wish they would put out season sets of this real soon. And I also loved it when Amy bought a Leonard Cohen CD!

You mean Linda, not Nina and an LP, not a CD. ;)

I liked this episode, with the parallel storylines of Andy neglecting his friendship with Nina and Ephram neglecting his friendship with Amy.

And the parallels abound next week:
Spoiler:
Both Ephram AND Amy decide to have sex with their new loves?!? Yowza.

AndyCapps 02-04-04 09:18 AM

The whole Amy making fun of Madison as if she were a senior citizen deal was funny. Especially considering in real life Ephram is the age Madison is supposed to be (20), and Amy is closer to her age on the show (17).

I figure this will be another WB spin the previews to make you think something's going to happen that won't deal.

Spoiler:
My guess, Ephram will actually have forgotten the condoms and Amy will either chicken out or find out that Tommy is dealing again. No sex. This is a bastardized version of Dawson-Joey all over again. ;)

Any word on if the show has been picked up for a third season yet? I got worried when it looks like Tommy-Amy and Madison-Ephram are doomed and Amy-Ephram's friendship is reconnecting. Getting Amy and Ephram together seems like something they'd do to end the series.

I'm pretty sure that Everwood will be picked up for a third season. Eventhough its running opposite a bunch of qualiy shows (excect for the drivel on Fox), its got a following.

It was only a matter of time before the whole issue of intimacy was raised... regardless of the couples (Andy/Linda; Amy/Tommy; Efram/Madison).

Not sure what to think about what Efram saw Tommy do. He seemed pretty reluctant to mention it to Amy, but I thought he would have.

Amy is headed for trouble... but I don't feel sorry for her, now Harold on the other hand, he's being dealt a stiff hand.

Spoiler:
Yeah, I figured they probably won't go through with it. But I do think it's kind of ironic that it looks like both of them decide they want to take their relationship to the next level at the same time. With Madison's age, I'm surprised the issue hasn't come up already though. And Amy has only been seeing that guy for a month?!? Did they ever establish if she ever had sex with Colin? You would have thought they would have had sex since they were together so long, but Amy seems pretty virginal.

Patman 02-04-04 09:42 PM

No way, I want to see Amy getting jiggy with it! :D

calhoun07 02-05-04 06:07 AM

I thought it was implied that Ephram and Madison already did "it." There was a line in one of the earlier episodes in their arc where she said to him something along the lines of, "What we did last night was illegal!" Well, the last time I checked, I didn't think simply dating or making out with a minor was illegal, but then again I really don't know. I took that line as they went all the way.

B.A. 02-09-04 09:47 AM

I finally got around to watching the ep yesterday - good ep. Nice to see the return of Nina from her hiatus or whatever the hell it was.

I want Ephram to tell Amy about his little sighting of Tommy. For some reason, I have never liked the actor that plays him whenever he pops up in a show, usually on the WB.

I've enjoyed the miniscule screen-time Delia has had on the show lately.

Patman 02-09-04 09:49 AM

The guy playing Tommy also played Lex's brother on Smallville, and I thought it was horrible on that show as well.

Everwood (2/9): Doin' it and doin' it and doin' 'round...

Spoilers...

Spoiler:
Andy gives Amy a prescription for BCPs, her grandmother finds the paperwork and goes ape---- on Andy.

Ephram heads over to Madison's to 'spend the weekend' but she cools him down within minutes and sends him walking.

Amy tells Tommy she's ready and he tells her about a party at a lodge, and she says that's the perfect place... Laney tags along (for support).

Ephram goes back over Madison's to apologize, she tells him about her first time and shows him the scar on her foot (long story)... he says something cute, she says let's do it... they make out on the couch, she climbs over him to get the condoms. Ephram's staring her in the pants holding onto her belt as she reaches... he gets excited, then a look of sheer horror crosses his face as he realized that he's.. ahem, done. He leaves in a rush. Another victim of pre-mature... well, you know. That's 0 for 1.

Back to Amy and the party, Laney see's Tommy dealing, tells Amy, but she doesn't wanna believe it. She asks him, he tells her he is and promises to stop. They cool off... that's 0 for 2.

Oh yeah, Andy asks Linda to spend the night, but when Ephram comes home, she decides to leave, much to Andy's dismay. 0 for 3.

Madison comes over to see Ephram, they take off to go for a drive.

Grandma has a talk with Amy... they are cool now.

Go back to the point, where Madison and Ephram are 'talking'... they make fun, jokes, then they look at each other and hands start to wander, clothes begin to become undone...

I guess it's 1 for 3.

Someone got lucky tonight!

Line of the night:

"You are officially not allowed to hang out with Bright anymore." -- Madison

SiberianLlama 02-09-04 09:26 PM

Pretty good episode tonight.

Bright had a ton of great lines.
Spoiler:
I especially liked the line Bright gave Dr. Brown when he got caught covering for Efram sneaking out to sleep over at Madison's instead of playing poker with the guys.

B.A. 02-09-04 11:37 PM

Bright's been one of the better parts of the show lately, imo.

Glad to see that someone other than Ephram caught Tommy dealing, and that she had the nerve to tell Amy.

Madison's line about Bright was great.

Patman 02-10-04 06:04 AM

Oh man, Ephram's getting overly excited as Madison was reaching for the condoms was painfully hilarious, as was his reaction to that overexcited. At least it appears that Ephram got his cherry popped finally.

AndyCapps 02-10-04 02:45 PM

Bright's line about how Madison obviously wanted some Brown lovin' was priceless. I also thought it was cool that Bright told Andy, "tell him I tried" when he was caught in his lie. Fell asleep on the couch watching Reba, ha!

Ephram's "accident" is an example of why I love this show. He's a 16 year old dating a 20 year old. His first time (or attempt at a first time) having sex can't be perfect. That wouldn't be real.

djones6746 02-11-04 05:20 AM

Loving this show deep into season 2.....where is season 1 on dvd?

Great cast of characters.......Treat Williams truly does this show justice week after week. :)

Everwood 2/16/04

Okay, the writers really need to get rid of the parallel relationship stories with Epram and Amy.

Can't believe Amy took back Tommy, and ditched Lanie (poor Lanie, she deserves so much better).

Will (James Earl Jones) convinces Ephram to play in a jazzfest in Boulder.

Ephram's ascent into manhood takes a hit as he confesses to Madison that he loves her, but she freezes, and this has Ephram all knotted up inside.

Andy, Ephram, Will and Bright take the road trip to Boulder, but since Ephram is totally distracted, he makes the trip back to Madison's place and she's having a fun time celebrating her band's successful gig that night, and Ephram decides to drive back to Boulder. At the piano jazz recital, Ephram has a meltdown on the keyboards, and the men leave for Everwood. On the way back, Will understands that Ephram is in the midst of a romantic tailspin, has Andy turn into a mall and commands Ephram to play some jazz on the mall piano. Ephram regains his senses and plays well.

Linda volunteered to look after Delia while Andy and Ephram were gone for the weekend. After unsuccessful assistance for a school project, and an inability to handle Delia and her friend, she consults with Nina, who sets her straight. The next morning Delia finishes her diorama and wants to show Linda, but she sees that Linda is taking a cup full of pills, and it worries her, but she doesn't let Linda know what she saw, and puts on a happy face for her.

Ephram goes to apologize to Madison for what he said and how he's basically out of his mind. Madison can't quite reciprocate Ephram's level of feelings at the current time, and they go into that zombie/coasting relationship mode for the time being.

Goldberg74 02-17-04 09:35 AM

Will: "Who are you?"

Bright: "I'm Bright."

Will: "I doubt it."

rotfl

Great episode!

I'm not happy that Amy took Tommy back, but its quite apparent that she doesn't trust him (the comm thingy).

Poor Ephram... back in the dugout.

Not sure what to think about Delia seeing Linda take the 'pill cocktail', or why she's keeping it to herself. It was funny seeing Delia without the hat around Linda, but she has it right back on when her dad comes home.

Poor Will, losing his hearing... but he's still got his charm.

Looks like Harold, Rose and Edna got the week off.

Next week looks interesting...

Patman 02-17-04 10:23 AM

Plus Ephram's description of his first sexual encounter in terms of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy. LOL!

Thank you, that was the first thing that came to mind when the ep ended. Those two are so dumb/naive when it comes to relationships and having them both in bad relationships right now is kind of taxing on the show, imo. They need to listen to Bright/Lanie a little more often. I like Madison, and hate Tommy, but either way it's time to move on.

James Earl Jones is great as Will. His stab at Bright was classic.

Glad to see Nina make a second straight appearance, but their was no Dr. Abbott.

Julia Brown was killed in a car accident. This statement makes no sense.

Damn it, you're right. I'm getting my shows confused - my bad. :(

I agree 100%. While I think each storyline is great individually, running them at the same time is just overdosing me with teen angst. Not to mention the forced parallel aspect. My favorite thing about this show is how they strike such a great balance among the different characters, no matter what the age. You're just as likely to have a story arc dealing with two senior citizens as you are one revolving about a 10-year-old girl. The teens are hogging just a little too much time in this ep.

Jadzia 02-18-04 09:03 AM

My mom always complains about how she never watches network TV because the shows are all crap. I was thinking about recommending this show to her. As I was watching this episode, I was wondering if a first time Everwood watcher would be confused about how this whiny teenage girl's story fits into the Brown family.

I definitely much prefer the shows with Dr. Abbott and how they contrast him with Dr. Brown and their different family situations.

Patman 02-18-04 09:13 AM

Everwood is getting pretty inaccessible to new viewers now. Don't know if that's a good thing or not, it just is.
