He absolutly did...if he was making it up to impress Jan he would have been SOOOO over the top about it. The fact that he said it matter-of-factly and disinterested shows that he found the whole thing boring.

Its almost like they write Michael as some sort of savant, someone who could impress everyone with his skills, but he finds that it comes so easy he truely doesnt realize that other people find getting work accomplised exciting.

I agree that Michael really got the Hammermill deal. Besides, how could possibly get away with making up something huge like that? One well-placed 30 second phone call on Jan's part and she'd know whethe it was true or not.

Toby's been my favorite character since the "office grievance" episode last year. Maybe I identify with him because we're a lot alike...

That is a great way of looking at it.

I hope they don't do it exactly like they did the British one, although that did work out well with David having to sort of share power with both Jennifer and Neil.

Dwight: I'll talk to my buddy down at the station, STAT.

later...

Dwight: So I, uh, called my buddy down at the station today. Have him run a background check on a Josh Porter see if there's any known aliases, etc.

Michael: And?

Dwight: He wasn't volunteering today.

The deleted scenes including Dwight 'investigating' Josh is pretty funny as well.

I think Michael closes his deals because he is that kind of personality that you would agree to almost anything in order to just get away from him. Nobody can be rude to him, Jan has tried, he keeps turning things around to work in his favor, no matter what. So it gets exasperating, and you end up agreeing with him.

Was I the only one who was reminded of the beginning of Unbreakable when Michael and Dwight were taking the train to Philly? I'll have to go back and watch the movie again, but I swear the sets looked identical. Good thing they made it to the convention.

Thanks for reminding me about the deleted scenes. Just watched them... freaking hilarious! Not sure if I need to spoilerize this, but...

Spoiler:
"Coast guard?! So you know how to fight underwater?"

And what was up with that exchange between Josh and Jan? Hmmm...

It amazes how much good material they always seem to have left over.

That's the thing though, he's not like that when he's trying to make the sale. When he's trying to make the sale he actually makes a connection with the person, like when he got the deal with the county. Heck, in last night's episode the Hammermill guys showed up to his party.

You must not be a Republican - don't you know that corporations are supremely efficient and effective?

The scene where Jim walks in on Angela but left before recognizing her didn't quite ring true for me - it seemed like a device to keep the "secret affair" between her and Dwight going.

Jim and Pam both know that Dwight and Angela are an item.

Yeah, but remember we didn't really get to "see" Angela from Jim's perspective. Maybe she was still "in disguise"? Also, the initial shock, combined with the fact that he only saw her for a split second, might've kept him from making the connection.

What is it that Angela says when the door opens? It sounds like she says "Jane"...to Dwight's Tarzan? The earlier "Monkey" nickname, too... Dwight & Angela might get freaky.

I have to imagine Angela is a freak-a-doo in the bedroom. We can only imagine what it was Jim actually saw in there, but it clearly wasn't anything that led him to even think it could have been her.

What was the deal with Creed?

He introduced himself to the Drunk Girl and said that Angela is the office bitch. Is his brain fried from all the drugs from the 60's?

She said "D, is that you?" when Jim walked in.

In a cut scene from season 2, it was revealed that Creed used to play with The Grass Roots, and did a lot of drugs in the 1960's. He admits that he can't hold a phone conversation for longer than 30 seconds.

(Creed Bratton is basically playing a parody version of himself -- he really was in The Grass Roots)

I disagree - he was trying to sneak into his room and the last thing he expected to see was a pair of naked female legs. And one could argue he was breaking and entering.

I would have hauled ass out of there too.

You saying he messes up when he think too much reminded me of last season when Pam revealed that she sometimes delays sending phone calls to him because he does better the second time. Michael really is his own worst enemy. And I think he definitely sealed the deal with Hammerhill because I don't think those guys would have showed up to his party otherwise.

Overall, a pretty good ep. There were a couple of lines that had me rolling, like telling Pam that she would definitely have to put out.

Which makes sense and was stated by Merchant (I think) in one of the commentaries. The Brent character was there to be fired, they have to keep Michael Scott around for a lot longer than the the UK series ran.
