Back to "The Client" - Michael knew what he was doing the whole time with Tim Meadows. Right before he closed the deal, Jan started to see what was happening and began to talk. Michael silenced her with a look and a "shush" that made her mouth drop open - he was completely in control of that situation and knew exactly what he was doing. She responded to that confidence.
Of course, Michael than completely blows it, but that's the other side of his personality. He is an outstanding example of someone that was promoted one level too high.
I loved that he seemed half-drunk when he announced the Hammermill deal. Like that wasn't a big deal to him at all - the PARTY was a big deal to him. Sales is something he can do without thinking. It's such an awesome way to humanize him.

I remember reading somewhere that all the writers for The Office have appeared or will be appearing in episodes--it's writen into their contracts.About this ep: I just wanted to say that Jim's physical reaction to Angela in Dwight's room was hands down one of the funniest things I've seen on television this year. And one of the deleted scenes puzzled me:

On Creed, also recall that last season when Michael let out the secret on Jim's thing for Pam, Creed asked "Which one is Pam?"
I think this long-running gag on the show is a combination of both him not caring to know anyone in the office and the long-term effects of too many drugs in the '60s.

And in your modern "don't ask, don't tell" military, he probably just went along for the ride to the women's barracks.

If Michael had been given a normal childhood he wouldnt need to spend 99.9% of his time trying to get people to like him and he could just do his job, which, I believe, if he ever DID pay attention to, he would be unstoppable.

Otherwise Michael would do something to offend Josh which would lead him to a 3 month long paid vacation.
