Stargate SG-1 Cancelled

TV news just gets harder and harder with each announcement...

I'm really disappointed with this news. I wonder how much of this plays into them saying they want to do new movies and develop a 3rd series. I really felt the show picked up the past few seasons - 8 was kinda a slump, although it had one of my favorite episodes "Threads". Odd too since they are only on ep 4 out of 18-22. Again.

Well, I'm disappointed, but it has been an incredible run. And it's probably just as well. After watching episode 200, it made me realize how much Richard Dean Anderson brought to the show when he was on it.

What will be interesting is whether they have enough episodes to bring closure to the Ori storyline, and how the crossover situations and characters will work on Atlantis once SG-1 ends production.

I find this surprising as this was one of scifi's flagship shows(and they don't really have that many). It's not great loss because I mean...ten seasons is a lot of seasons, but the show did seem to pick up again these last two years. Almost like the show was a spinoff of itself as season 10 really isn't much like the earlier seasons what with the almost entirely new cast and new threat.

I wonder if the cost of episodes was getting out of hand, if it wasn't performing as well ass the network hoped, or if it really was just the shows time?

Well, like I said "Threads" is one of my top episodes and I really hope it ends something like that one did.

"There really are not fish in here are there?"
"Nope."

Lol, even loved the spoof of that in 200. Man I'm gonna miss this show. Excuse me while I go cry.

heh. that seemed sudden but it was its time.

it was just wrong that it outlasted shows like star trek next gen and the x-files.

The longest running Science-Fiction television show in history... that says ALOT! None of the Star Trek's even made it to 200 episodes...

That sucks. With the Ori being such a threat, it seems they could have at least one more season.

I don't think I've watched more than 2 entire episodes of this show.

That really sux. I stoped watching it at the end of season 8. I was looking foward to getting back into it and buying the season 9 dvd. I guess its better if the show ends on its own terms on a good note instead of dieing some horrible tv death.

Hey, Sci-Fi channel can't afford to fund many new shows... Gotta keep wrestling going!

I enjoyed the show, but it hasn't been as good since RDA left. It had a good run

Shoot. I remember having my brother record eps off Showtime when this first started, so we could watch it. Friday nights for the past 6 years have been SG nights at our house. Sad to see this series go, but better to leave while it's still popular, than fade to obscurity...

I guess this opens the way for Dean Devlin to move forward with his movie sequels to the original Stargate film...

That's what I was wondering. I bet he had a hand in it. I remember interviews way back when that he wouldn't make another film while the show was on the air. Guess he got his wish.

Fixed.

Doctor Who ran 26 years in it's first run and just finished year 2 in it's second.

I hope they don't plan out the remaining episodes assuming it will be picked up by another network or have a mini-series/TV Movie. They are in the rare position of having at least half a season to wrap things up. If it ends with a serious cliffhanger without a signed deal for the show's continuation then I'll be pissed.

As for SG-Atlantis, forget guest appearances I wouldn't mind seeing Daniel, Carter, or Claudia Black get reassigned to Atlantis next year. Unfortunately I don't know how well they would fit in. Especially Carter, since they have an abundance of nerds.

Are Claudia Black and Ben Browder the Paula Marshall and Ted McGinley of science fiction?
