Dave Navarro is single. Oh no, I bet we'll hear more cringe-worthy asides from him...

Big Boy Laroux 07-18-06 01:45 PM

god, these reality shows are hilarious.

for the one before last week, it's revealed that dilana has NEVER heard "ring of fire", and zayra has never heard "you really got me". How can you be in music, and NEVER hear those songs?

and chris was even funnier. he kept saying how he "nailed" "LA Woman", so now everyone has forgotten about roxanne... um, yeah, dude. keep telling yourself that.

There are very few talented people on this show. Right now, I think that Mig or Marty would run away with this if they were on.

This gets us back to the question of whether the band has already chosen a singer, and are purposely surrounding him with horrible performers in a publicity stunt.

Big Boy Laroux 07-18-06 04:02 PM

well, in the latest reality show (got around to watching that today, too), they all got to work with a vocal coach. they all sounded good (at least the ones they showed - pretty much everyone but zayra). even dilana, who the coach had sing in a higher register. so most of them *can* sing, but some of them suck.

zayra has got to be a joke... even the house band was ripping on her for her arrangement of "you really got me".

Toby showing why song choice is important

wow, just terrible.

Joeboo835 07-18-06 08:43 PM

as someone stated earlier, zayra has to be a joke

No joke - I like Toby, too, but that was dreadfull. Hopefully he can recover from it.

On the other hand, for the first time yet, Phil actually impressed me.

Joeboo835 07-18-06 09:14 PM

someone explain to me why they loved Zayra so much

Big Boy Laroux 07-18-06 09:18 PM

again, zayra takes me out of her performance with her over-enunciation. you don't have to pronounce every hard consonant, zayra!

early bottom 3 was jenny, dana, and ryan. i thought ryan was actually decent. I'd replace him with zayra, and i agree with it. jenny is way too lizz phairish (and not even a good liz phair), and dana, who is normally saved by her voice, actually sounded very bad to me tonight.

if you were a girl, would you want to win this competition? tommy lee is a douche. wish storm had told him something else, other than "google", which by the way, i've been searching non-stop since i got online tonight... :)

tops for me were lukas (loved his mick vibe) and phil. i'd give the encore to phil, probably. interesting note, in the reality episode, the house band was rehearsing with lukas. they said he sounded great while singing it as originally recorded. paul questioned the need/desire to make it harder. he said it could work, or could fail. especially because gilby is apparently a huge stones fan. but the band (and especially gilby) loved it.

didn't think dilana was that great. especially after watching the reality show and seeing that she actually sounds pretty damn good when singing in a higher register, she just goes back to the deep growl.

Joeboo835 07-18-06 09:25 PM

Tommy basically played his hand tonight. No chance a woman wins this with his comment to Dilana (i'm assuming what he said).

Btw, it took me 3 weeks now, but i finally figured out who Dilana reminds me of. When i first saw her, she was screaming "you konw me from somewhere else" and i finally figured it out.

Rayanne (drunk girl) from My So Called Life

Joeboo835 07-18-06 09:25 PM

Lukas is still the hands down winner for me.

btw, Storm is smokin' hot for a 37 year old.

Big Boy Laroux 07-18-06 09:27 PM

didn't he just say "Dilana, I wanna"? Did they bleep something out? or did he just naturally stop there?

there was that comment, and the one he made to storm. why you would want to be in a band with an ass like that is beyond me.

it's sad, really, because both jason and gilby continue to impress me more every episode, while tommy continues to look dumber and dumber.

edit: Storm is 37??!?!?

Joeboo835 07-18-06 09:33 PM

they cut something out, no bleep, jsut no volume. He definately said something. If i had to guess (and i'm TOTALLY guessing) is he said "Wanna fu#$? I wanna"

yes, says on the website she's 37

Big Boy Laroux 07-18-06 09:35 PM

hmmm, to me it sounded like he started by saying her name. cause it rhymes with "I wanna." but it wouldn't surprise me. there was a jump in my cable feed, but didn't think it was and edit. the whole picture kind of skipped.

Had to make a choice between SuperNova and "THE ONE"..I chose "The One" and dismissed SuperNova from the Tivo. Dont think anyone here is worth listening to! .Havent watched "The One" yet, but I think I made the right choice. Anyone else deciding between the two?

The Philip Seymour Hoffman look-a-like on the piano sounded pretty good.

Will definitely check out the rest of the episode later.

Actually... her original material (w/her band) is pretty good.

The crap she's given on Supernova is a joke. I'm sure she would excel in her own element.

The Billy Idol reject from Canada?

Are you fucking serious? :hscratch:

Big Boy Laroux 07-18-06 11:27 PM

zayra's been given crap? seems to me that she's had two really good songs to work with, and a mediocre one (the evanescence song). i'd be really interested to hear what her element is.

Your search is over

Big Boy Laroux 07-18-06 11:50 PM

ok, not that those songs on her myspace page are amazing or anything (they're above average, which is MUCH better than she is on the show), but those have to be crazily heavily overproduced. it's like night and day. song choice is not to blame for how bad she is on this show.

SexualPudding 07-19-06 01:05 AM

Nope, it's just her damn singing. It sucks. She is utterly horrible, in my opinion. She seriously reminds me of some of the American Idol audition rejects that get made fun of, both for sucking and for not being able to sing in clear English. Zayra is just fucking putrid as a performer. Hearing her is like being in Mexico or somewhere and listening to a lounge singer do horrible cover versions of American songs.
