Star Jones Leaves 'The View'

Absolutely everyone knew this was coming once Rosie signed on.

From Access Hollywood:

BURBANK, Calif. (June 26, 2006) -- Star Jones Reynolds will announce her departure from "The View" this week, Access Hollywood learned.

A source close to "The View" told Access Monday that Star Jones Reynolds will leave "The View" in July and will announce the departure on the show this week.

As a result, the much discussed face-off between Star and incoming co-host, Rosie O'Donnell, will never occur.

O'Donnell is not joining the gals until September.

By July, Star will have been at "The View" for close to nine years, having been a part of the show since its inception in August 1997.

Barbara Walters, creator of "The View" and Star's fellow co-host, did not return Access' calls for comment.

Hallelujah!

One of the biggest blowhards on tv. how she lasted 9 years, i dont know.

she better stay married, because no sponsors are going to line up for the next one.

i wonder if they're going to throw a farewell party for her ... hee hee

How much longer will this show last? Not that seeing Star Jones leave is a bad thing, but Rosie coming on is a bad thing.

This is unfortunate news.

Not that I like Star Jones; in fact, I can't stand that frog-eyed bitch--but I was hoping that there'd be some huge blow-up between her and Rosie.

But no, she's taking the easy way out. It doesn't seem fair.

IMO she is being forced out. I have heard that was a contingency required for Rosie to sign on - get rid of Jones.

I knew she was gone when Barbara Walters made that statement that "Star is welcome to stay". That sounded so passive-aggressive, like "hope she leaves".

If my boss ever told someone I was "welcome to stay" in my job I would know that I wasn't. If you are a valued employee they would say they want you to stay.

Star just announced she was leaving on today's show, after which she received a standing ovation from the studio audience. . . which was prompted by Babwa Wawa.

I'm not sure if the standing o' was out of appreciation for her nine years of service on the show, or out of relief that the bitch was finally leaving. . .

I bet the show might miss her. Without Star, Meredith Vieira, the realization that "Crazy Rosie" will be on everyday is finally sinking in.

I really think that The View probably won't last more than another season with its new configuration (unless they can land someone to offset Rosie's polarizing personality)

Why do those two hate each other so much? Simply cause they're both biatches, or what?

I think Rosie called Star out on her blog about not admitting that she had gotten stomach surgery to lose all that weight. Or something like that, it was mentioned in the Rosie's joining the View thread.

You are correct, Sir.

The exiting personality tells People that the decision to leave was hardly her own.

"What you don't know is that my contract was not renewed for the 10th season," she says in the magazine in its issue on newsstands Friday. "I feel like I was fired."

The departing cohost says that she found out her contract would not be renewed just days before O'Donnell's addition was announced.
I guess the only thing to look forward now is to see if Rosie actually eats one of the other women.

And I mean that both literally and. . . literally.

No way they need one attractive person. Just have her sit there and not talk.

Good question. I can't think of any sector of our economy who would give a rat's behind about this news--save Los Angeles catering services.
