Wannabe (2005/I) .... Monkee Dancer #1

There should be a contest to find the most ridiculous credit on IMDB.

I do only because it premieres earlier.
This most recent episode (with Kyle going to school for the first time) was one of the better ones. It reminded me more of the mood and tone of the Pilot.

"Kyle XY" Gets Another Season

The ABC Family network has renewed breakout summer hit sci-fi drama "Kyle XY" for thirteen more episodes reports TV.Com

The series, about a mysterious teenager who awakens nude in a forest with no memory and acts far younger than he looks, has averaged 2.1 million viewers a week on ABC Family and 4.6 million in its Friday-night repeats on ABC.

USA Network's Monk is the only cable show that ABC has previously repurposed in its entirety. Kyle's finale airs August 28th with a blowout marathon on ABC Family.

"Kyle XY" Gets Another Season
I've been hearing rumors that season two will be airing as a midseason replacement on ABC proper, not ABC Family... does anyone has any concrete info on this?

Jadzia 08-07-06 03:02 PM

Since it looks like this thread is becoming about the show/season in general, I went ahaead and modified the thread title.

riley_dude 08-07-06 09:29 PM

Lets hope they don't drage the mythology stuff out too long since they know they are a Hit.

Yeah, the daughter and her BF crap is really boring and cliched. The son, on the other hand, is hilarious in his stupidity.

Another pretty solid ep. This has been one of the better surpises of a pretty thin summer TV season

Tommy Ceez 08-08-06 02:06 PM

I watch it on ABC for the HD

Me too, not sure if it'll finish out the season on ABC, I think Chew mentioned earlier that it initially was only going to air a few times on ABC, but maybe they changed their minds now.

Yeah, it was initially only going to be about 4 episodes. Back on page 2, I said Futon Critic states ABC will be extending it by "at least two more". That took us to last Friday. I haven't read how far beyond that it'll go.

Given this info......

ABC Family is giving its freshman drama "Kyle XY" a second season as the cable channel has ordered at least 13 new episodes of the series.

To date this season, the Touchstone Television/Benderspink-based "Kyle" has averaged a solid 2.1 million viewers, including 336,000 among adults 18-34 and 793,000 among adults 18-49. Faring even better are its Friday night encores on ABC, which have averaged more than double its initial ABC Family run - 4.6 million overall viewers and 1.8 million among adults 18-49.
....I would assume it's going to play on ABC for as long as the first season goes.

Kevin M. Dean 08-08-06 04:24 PM

There's only 2 more episodes not counting the one that just aired monday on ABC Family.

Gasspasser 08-08-06 06:55 PM

2 More episodes for the season or that will be aired on ABC?

ABC will continue to air the re-runs of the ABC Family hit show, Kyle XY.

The show has done so with ratings on the main network that ABC is extending the run to air all 10 episodes of the drama about a mysterious teen past its original four-episode commitment.

ABC has been running Kyle XY Fridays at 9pm drawing an average 4.6 million total viewers to the timeslot - finishing first or second most weeks in the demo, notes Variety. ABC Family premiered the show on June 26th to 2.6 million - the biggest audience for an original series in the network's history, and has since averaged 2 million overall viewers.

The season finale of Kyle XY airs August 28th on ABC Family and re-airs September 1st on ABC.

Jadzia 08-09-06 10:59 AM

This season has gone by very fast. I was surprised to hear there will only be 2 more episodes.

Ayre 08-15-06 11:40 AM

Now, there are only two episodes.

It was two episodes and the finale.

I think this last one was a better episode (8/15).

We got some info on his background. New villians.

Kevin M. Dean 08-15-06 04:51 PM

Yeah, I miss-heard the initial commercial. It said "only 2 episodes left until the season finale" and I only heard ""only 2 episodes left".

aktick 08-18-06 11:31 PM

Goop episode tonight/this week.

It wasn't like it was a huge surprise, but it was a little freaky at first seeing that picture from '85.

So do we think the security company guy is actually trying to help Kyle, or not? I'm guessing he is.

riley_dude 08-19-06 02:08 AM

The show is getting a bit darker. I think I even read something with the creators saying they thought it was getting darker than they originally planned, which is fine with me.

aktick 08-25-06 09:12 PM

OK episode tonight, but one thing kind of annoyed me - if those are actually supposed to be his parents, shouldn't they be MUCH older?

Wasn't the picture at UW of him from 1985? Say he was 20 in it, meaning he was born in 1965, and if his mom was 20 when she had him, she should be 60.

Unless it turns out to be a hoax by the "company."

The person in the picture from 1985 isn't Kyle. The professor who died made Kyle (who is obviously a robot of some sorts) look like one of his former students. Kyle is supposed to be 16-18 now, so the couple that showed up at the hospital could indeed be his parents-age wise. (I say its a hoax and they are employees of the "company" posing as his parents.)

I think Kyle is a clone based on the dude from 20 years ago. That is why he doesn't have a belly button, he was "grown" in a lab by that company, rather than being born.

I think the "parents" are a cover-up sent by the company.

OK, I guess I was just thinking it was actually him, but he had been severely genetically modified. Makes mroe sense that he's a clone with perks.

Of course that still wouldn't really explain why the pictured kid's parents are that young, so I'll say that is a hoax.

I thought he was modified as well. never thought he was a robot.
Maybe the parents got the same treatment as he did.
