Whew! I'm glad to hear how much everyone hated the originals. Sometimes i feel so out of touch with the general public, but I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking those two songs were pure crap.

I think Kat cracks when she is nervous. (as some have said her practice songs sound better than the show's performance.) When she came out for that final song I seem to remember her eyes darting a bit and looking apprehensive. She looked like she knew the song was gonna blow. And the last note of the first phrase (repeated during the verse) was some dissonant note that is hard to pull off no matter who you are.

Still Taylor's song wasn't any better and he made it his own at the end.

Love them both (As I've said, my two fav of the entire contest) but I'll give it to Taylor based on a basic tie up until the last song.

And this once again proves how no matter how good a singer is, Idol will give them crap to work with. Looking forward to Taylor and Kat's contract to expire to see what they can really do!

I admit I haven't watched the show, but I did see the contestants in a commercial once. Am I the only one who thinks that one dude looks like Father Ted?

Not impressed with either of the two..Liking Taylor, though.

The

Meatloaf

The Chris' song with
Spoiler:
Live
should be good, I loved that version. And I saw that the two members of

Live
were in the audience the night that Elliot got booted. I wonder at what point they started watching the show? Maybe after Chris covered their song in Week 7 or whenever that was, caught their attention.

Arrgh! American Idol Finale and the Lost Finale overlapping each other by an hour.

 Thanks. It didn't feel right when I wrote it, but this is only DVDTalk. (see my sig.) Didn't expect my professor to show up. (Nice ta know someone's reading my posts tho!)

Well, now that you've fixed it, I'll have to delete my post. :)

movieking 05-24-06 01:50 PM

Last night's episode was the first that I have seen all season, and I FFed most of it, but does anyone else think that TH sounds just like T Graham Brown (for you country fans anyway)? Soon as I heard him singing I couldn't get over the resemblance.

FWIW, I wouldn't buy a CD from either one. Well, maybe Kat if I could just look at it and would not have to listen to it.

I prefer softporn or do nudity in direct to DVD B movies. :D

Then you haven't earned the right to complain. We've been in the trenches! We've been through hell! We'll never be the same again!!!

If the producers knew what they were doing they would have Taylor & Katharine duet on "Up Where We Belong".

Patman 05-24-06 04:20 PM

Or "I've Have The Time of My Life" (more Diane Warren crap).

Not sure if this is tongue in cheek - but didn't Carrie and Bo sing that last year on the finale show?

How about "We've Got Tonight"...although I don't think Kat could hit the high Sheena notes.

Actually, I read that they are doing a duet. And if it's true, they said it would be:
Spoiler:
I've Had The Time of My Life.

Patman 05-24-06 05:18 PM

Damn, I'm good!

Horseshit!

Earlier in the year they film the performances and and stuff in advance of airing, but the season finale is live.

RichC2 05-24-06 05:56 PM

Whoever wins, they'll both be forgotten in a few months.

Seems to be an everyotherseason thing :).

TomOpus 05-24-06 06:55 PM

I liked it back when each finalist sang the same original song.

Wow. Your friend must have a copy of Dial Idol on his computer.

raven56706 05-24-06 07:08 PM

the film of paula and simon were hilarious

Patman 05-24-06 07:22 PM

Kat brought out the pups tonight for her duet with Meatloaf. Let's just be grateful that Meatloaf did not display his moobs in his performance with Kat.

zuffy 05-24-06 07:24 PM

My God, WTF happen to Meatloaf's voice? Oh God, Kat's boobs
