In fact, they probably shut that kid off of Clay's monitor entirely. LOL./
The only thing that would have made that whole moment gayer is if Clay had started spooning him. |

A very good closing show this year! Felt like a celebration of music rather than a recap of the season. Enjoyed the star performances for both the idea (music legends and such like Bacharach) and the comedy. (some of the "legend's" performances.) FF'd thru some of the probable crap (Pickler and such)
And Prince? WTF? Guess we all have ta sell out some time... Sounded good tho. And it looked like Ryan thought he was gonna stand next to him for the bump. "Where'd he go?" Nice ta see Elliott lumped in with Bucky and Chicken Little. And Congrats to Taylor! SO different from what most would expect from AI. Looking forward to seeing how his career goes. |
I didn't even recgonize Hasselhoff.
Why was he crying ? |

Anyone got a link to the Prince performance? That was the only good part about the show in my opinion.

Katharine McPhee Quote of the Day
on performing with Meat Loaf: "They just came to me. It wasn't like it was my choice. They just said, Okay, you'll be singing with so-and-so...I didn't even know who he was. But now I do. He was like really big in the '70s, right?" |
Kids, these days. That's just sad.

AI really needed a Taylor-Kat finale because a Taylor-Elliot finale would have looked ridiculous if they would have had to sing a duet of "I've had the time of my life" together. :D
|
This played into what people have been saying about AI wanting a male winner this time out.

Or Philip Bailey & Phil Collins' "Easy Lover." Now I am depressed. That would have been so awesome. Of course, I really hate "I've had the Time of My Life"-- it was my senior class song. |
For a good laugh, if any of you still have it Tivo'd, go back and watch the very beginning of super Clay Aiken fan's "performance". You thought his facial expression was funny and painful at the same time when he saw Clay? The way he scrunched his face up when singing the first notes before Aiken even came out had me in stitches all day.
I think I rewound on that, Hasselhoff crying, and crazy guy's header into the first row at least 5 times each. |
Haha! Hasselhoff is showing genuine human emotion! In public yet! What a dick!

pretty good ratings for the finale
......Fox capped a stellar fifth season for the hit competition when an average of 36.4 million people tuned in to the finale - spiking to almost 43 million the last half hour - according to Nielsen Media Research........... .........Only the 2003 finale between Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken (who showed off his new hairstyle on Wednesday's show), pulled in more viewers, with 38.1 million. But that was deceptive: the 2003 show was only one hour, compared to this year's two-hour event. During the second hour this year, more than 40 million people were watching, Nielsen said. The audience shot up to nearly 43 million for the last half hour, when Prince performed and Hicks' victory was announced. Last year's finale, with Carrie Underwood winning, was seen by 30.3 million. Much to the surprise of Fox and horror of its rivals, "American Idol" was up in popularity over last year all along, all the way back to when it began in January. That's unusual for a show that's been on the air for four years and put out five seasons of programming......... |
