That was an excellent Cold Case finale! Probably one of the best episodes of the entire series. Now I have to wonder how many more years the show can last considering it costs a fortune to produce with all the music.

Without a Trace was one of the weakest episodes this season.

mike7162 05-07-07 10:56 PM

Without a Trace is now officially the dullest show on television.

That Cold Case episode Kicked ass!, exciting from start to finish. I noticed one of the song that was used in the episode was used for the final scene of last years ER *season finale*. Whats up with without a trace? I hope that wasn't the final episode of the season because if it was what a shit finale. I episode was alright but not if it was the finale because without a trace usually has a good cliffhanger.
I watched a bit of that SNL: in the 90's thing (i record all my shows) and it was alright but it was mostly recycled clips from all the SNL 'best of' DVDs.

DJariya 05-08-07 12:39 PM

Fortunately, that wasn't Without a Trace's season finale. It airs this Thursday after CSI in it's old timeslot because on Sunday Survivor will be a 2 hour finale and 1 hour reunion show.

Interesting to see CSI: Miami win the 18-49 demo battle. Last week Heroes got 5.4 while CSI: Miami had 5.1.

Rockmjd23 05-08-07 03:24 PM

Maybe the networks will rethink the month or more 'hiatus' if the audiences don't seem to be coming back.

They're going to have to. Just looking at the Heroes numbers, there's no other explanation for the drop. They were hitting 14-15 million all year. Now, after a HUGE hiatus, they're getting 11 and change.

Networks have to start treating serialized shows differently. The show is better now than when it started, but it has lost momentum (and viewers) because of that huge gap.

hardercore 05-08-07 03:59 PM

Heroes WAS rather average last night ... but that should really affect next week's ratings, not this week's ... "String Theory" was possibly the best episode of the season and I would have thought the numbers would pick up a little. This is NBC's biggest ratings player for May sweeps?

nateman 05-09-07 02:01 AM

I'm glad to see the King of Queens destroy Heroes & 24, I thought between the long break the King of Queens took it might affect the ratings but thankfully it didn't & I expect that it will get around 15-17 million people for the 1hr *series finale* next week.
Hell it even did better than Two & a Half men this week, I know there on the same network but still pretty impressive.
I hope the new adventures of old christine doesn't get cancelled. Its CBS's lowest rated show of the night so things arn't looking to good for the show.
CSI: Miami kicked some booty in the ratings last night even more so, taking the #1 spot in the 18-49 Demo.

What are they supposed to do though? There's no way NBC delays their only new hit of the season til January so they can air it uninterrupted like 24. The alternative is splitting the season into two parts with a big hiatus in between, but Lost tried that this year and it cost them millions of viewers.

I could totally be off base here but doesn't HBO break most of their original shows into 2 parts and they still maintain around the same number of viewers when part 2 starts?

I think that can be attributed more to the timeslot change, rather than the hiatus.

I think they just did it for this final season of Sopranos, usually they have the year split into 3 "seasons" - fall, spring, and summer. An entire show's season airs in a given season.

madcougar 05-09-07 09:12 AM

Nice to see KofQ go out with big numbers. I never thought this show got the love it deserved.

Not true... mega ratings hit Dancing with the Stars returned during that second hiatus. That surely had to have an impact, especially in an already competitive timeslot.

I may be mistaken but didn't this whole issue come to the forefront after the summer success of Survivor in 2000 and The O.C. in 2003? As FOX became more of a threat to the other networks, they tried to do the same thing. The end result is that without baseball, the networks have to find something for the extra month. Heroes, like 24, lends itself to an uninterrupted run. If they were smart, they'd hold it back and use it as a replacement for a failed show. OR....they could always move things around in January since they have to fill 3 more hours on Sunday nights once football is over.

Heroes is one of NBC's few hit shows they'll probably do the same thing next year.

Say Goodbye to L&O: CI, Damn! I don't understand where people go when it's on? it used to get higher ratings than that.
The Unit got pretty decent ratings for its *season finale* I hope CBS decides to renew the show for a third season after that bitch of a cliffhanger.
