You got that shit right!!! I can't believe this. Well, it's fine though, I hope he releases his record at the same time whoever wins releases theirs and he will bury their ass!!!! It may have been for the best that he didn't win 'cause now he can do his thing and not be an Idol robot for however long they require him to be. Doesn't the winner have to be tied to the show for like a year or something and win a million dollar contract?? I forgot how it works, but it doesn't matter now. Well, I for one will be cheering on Elliott now. As long as Taylor doesn't win..anyone but him.

dadaluholla 05-10-06 08:43 PM

I had Kat going home as my office pool pick, so that is going to cost me some points....BUT IS SO WORTH IT!
:)

Did anyone notice the American Inventor finalists sitting behind Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell? For the two or three of you who still watch that, I mean. :)

The problem with that is 19 Entertainment (the Idol company) has rights for anyone in the final 12, and can sign any of them they want as part of the agreement to move on to the final 12. It's their way of forcing them to do the Idol tour and to make sure they DON'T compete with the winner (unless THEY choose to do so... they released Carrie's and Bo's CDs a few weeks apart but they are two totally different genres so they must have figured it was indirect competition).

If you've never been there, check out the boards at americanidol.com -- absolute insanity right now! I barely got out with my life just lurking!!

No problem with tonight's elimination.

whoopdido 05-10-06 09:08 PM

Honestly, how many people would actually buy an album by Taylor or Elliot? 6? 7 maybe. I'm glad I just started watching this show this year so it won't be too much of a shock to my system when I never watch again. What a complete and utter joke. Taylor and Elliot are total sideshow acts. Hell, Bucky has more talent and was more entertaining than both of them.

America sucks, what else is new? I stopped watching after Paris got the boot figuring Chris would win. This saddens me, but at least I'm not shackled to the tv tues/weds night. I had I not had finals this week, maybe I would have watched last night...but oh well. Chris was awesome, and AI could have really used a rocker. Chris was hot too...pity.

Dont expect to see anyone who doesnt get 1st or 2nd make it big; AI is great if you get runner up or win, but if you don't....don't expect a big career out of it. It's really a gamble.

WOW! Disagree completely. Who from this group of 4 is not a worthy winner? Federov was in the top 4 last year. Year before the best of that lousy crop went out at #4. There were clunkers in the top 4 every year except this one.

I contend that any of this group of 4 is at least as good as any last year and leagues better than the year before. Throw out last night and Kat is as good as Carrie. Chris is better than Bo most nights. Taylor is certainly better than Federov. Elliott is better than Vonsell. Of course, reasonable people may disagree on S4 but S3 is not even in dispute. S2 and S1 had their clunkers as well.

I think you misunderstand my point (my saying they're lacking as a Final 4 was a poor choice of words). It's not that I think they're unworthy of being a "Final 4". It's that I don't think there's a "Winner" in the group, and now that we're at the "Final 4", it's more obvious. None of them is half as good as Kelly or Clay (who likely really won) or even Ruben, nor do I think they're as strong as Fantasia or Carrie (or LaToya or Tamyra). Taylor's the definition of average; Elliot has a nice voice but no charisma and will never be a "star"; Chris has a unique sound, but his range is very limited; and for all her talent Kat has no control of her vocals. She's all over the map most nights. Kat could record an album with those vocals and a chance at many takes, but as a live performer she's a timebomb. They're all decent enough, and none of them is as bad as, say, Jasmine Trias, but none of them deserves to actually win this thing either IMO.

Anyway, no surprise on the vote tonight. Chris looked pissed. Kat should have been gone, but not when it's 3 guys vs. 1 girl.

People really need to stop making blanket statements as though they know the tastes of everyone in the world. I LOVE the old-school bluesy sound that Taylor has when he concentrates on the vocal and his CD would be the first AI CD I would ever buy. And I know several people around here that feel the same.

He won't be the most successful commercially, but to say that nobody's interested in him (or Elliott) is pretty short-sighted.

dadaluholla 05-10-06 09:17 PM

You know I was starting to think Idol had lost some strength this season, but reading these comments from suicidal Chris fans (especially on the official website) makes me think its as powerful as ever.
;)

atlantamoi 05-10-06 09:20 PM

Very pleased. I was hoping Elliot and Taylor would make it to the final two and that chance just opened up bigtime. Chris will sell records to people who love living 1994 Live all over again. Have at it. Not my bag.

Would you pay money to see Taylor in concert?

Brent_MN 05-10-06 09:24 PM

I'd pay money to see Carrie if I was in the first 5 rows. :)

Well...unless Chris was the warm-up act or something. Then I'd pass.

that Kellie Pickler chick is still in right? she was touted so i expect she is still alive and will eventually win.

Well, different strokes for different folks I guess. I just don't get what people see in him. To me Simon had it right. He's said numerous times that he's a glorified karaoke/wedding singer. His little dances might be alright in a "jeez what a dork" way but I just can't imagine people paying money to watch him dance around a stage and sing. Same goes with Elliot--he does have a decent voice but has ZERO stage presence. Chris has a lot of charisma, but frankly American Idol didn't fit him. He should have been on that INXS show or whatever it is. He'll be fine though. He'll either start his own band or join up with a band and I'll bet he'll be very successful. I think McPhee could end up having a pretty successful short term career. I think she could do as well as Kelly Clarkson for sure. She's attractive and is a pretty good singer. That's really all a female has to do in order to be a successful singer. Of the 4 which ones could any of you see having a number 1 hit? For me it sure isn't Taylor or Elliot.

Count me as one who strongly agrees with you.

I thought I had seen Katharine in concert before, but it turns out that it was just my smoke detector's "low battery" alert.

I've even heard rumor this might have been the basis for the whole AI voting system.

paradicelost 05-10-06 09:46 PM

Well since Chris got picked i guess i was wrong about America wanting another cookiecutter nickleback rocker boy. Not saying the guy isn't talented but lets face it guys like him or a dime a dozen.

Yeah, well... there's a reason he didn't make it on that show (he did try out). Maybe it was because he can't write? I dunno but he wasn't good enough for that either.

criptik28 05-10-06 09:49 PM

Wow that was brutal the way Seacrest announced who was going home.
