I bet Chris will be more successful than this season's AI winner. Just look at season 2. Clay is doing better than Ruben.

They royally screwed with Fiona after her CD was done. I don't think his is done yet, but alas, I am not really sure. I knew this news though, so thanks for posting the clarification. You scared me with that. I was afraid I missed something and they had dropped him on a lark or something.
I mean, not that I care. I don't love Clay's voice past the point of reason or anything. **Twitch** |
His site on RCA says "4-26-06 :: New Album
Clay is currently in the studio working on his next & highly anticipated*3rd album that will be released on RCA Records*in 2006. The release date and album title are TBD!" |
Albums get pushed back in the music business all the time. Usually they hold the more anticipated releases until 4th quarter to get more sales.

Interesting - didn't know Fuel was looking for a new lead singer. Loved their songs "These Things" and "Falls on Me."
And Velvet Revolver's in trouble? Damn shame, since their first album was great. |
I don't follow Clay Aiken's career or anything, but if his last album was at least somewhat successful, then I doubt his label would dump him.
They usually don't throw you out in the cold unless you drop a Kelly Osbourne-style bomb. |
On Extra today, they had a couple of guys from Fuel offer the lead singer position to Chris again.
If I were him, I'd do it. ;) |

CNN is reporting he's got the Fuel job: http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/TV/0....ap/index.html
But I can't find where in the report it actually states he accepted the job?! |

Guitarist Carl Bell does basically all of the writing for Fuel. So I don't think it matters all that much from the bands perspective.

Not that I care, but here's the word from the official Fuel site:
All right. Check it out. Here's the deal. Normally, obviously, we would never even think about anyone from Am Idol as a singer for Fuel. However, ever since Chris sang Hemorrhage on the show, we began paying attention. Sorry, the show's not my thing, but at least most of the finalist can sing and aren't Britney Spearing it up there. However, Chris in my opinion has carried himself well on the show and has stayed true to his rock side, which is a serious credit to him considering the format. We have found some great guys through the audition process and in fact, were already headed in other directions when Chris unexpectedly got voted off the show. The phones started ringing. So now what? I think anyone would say that we would at least have to entertain the idea of Chris and Fuel. The websites have been flooded with support for the idea ever since he sang Hemorrhage from most of you. So that is what we are doing. We are entertaining the idea and the offer to Chris was that we would be willing to entertain him as an option. However, there is a lot to discuss and be decided. Is it right for us? Would it be the right thing for Chris? Would he even be able to get out of the contractual obligations to Am Idol? Would we be able to get things squared with Sony? So nothing is cut and dry, even if both camps thought it was right thing to do, it still might be impossible to work out all the details. Chris and I have discussed the possibility before and we are still entertaining the idea. Either way, never fear, we are coming with a great lead singer very soon who we are very excited about and rolling out a record this year. Posted by CarlBell May 12, 2006 4:51 pm |
Thanks for that link. Even though Chris has annoyed me a lot in interviews since he got to boot, I would still very much support him with Fuel should that happen. I hope they get it worked out.

From the interviews I've been reading since Chris' exit, he may be the least gracious Idol loser this side of "Rhonetta".
