are they each singing 2 Elvis songs? Or is there a secondary theme?

Iron_Giant 05-09-06 09:54 AM

Taylor Hicks will be singing:

1. In the Ghetto (Awesome song, very emotional)

2. Jail House Rock (Fun - As we all know)

Saw this at TWOP:

Elliott: "Trouble" and "If I Can Dream"

Chris: "A Little Less Conversation" and "Suspicious Minds"

Taylor: "Jailhouse Rock" and "In the Ghetto"

Katherine: "Hound Dog/All Shook Up" and "Can't Help Falling in Love"

Geez, I love Elliott's voice, but his choice of songs are atrocious. And here's betting McPhee will screw up tonight.

Iron_Giant 05-09-06 10:33 AM

Kat should have done "Don't be Cruel", fun and Sultry all at the same time.

antennaball 05-09-06 10:52 AM

Elliott needed a whole lot more than picking two obscure Elvis songs to stay another week.

Boot 05-09-06 10:56 AM

This is only the second season I've watched AI, but I seem to recall that they had dropped the themes by this point last year and contestants just sang what they wanted. Am I misremembering? Do they carry themes all the way through?

I agree... Looks like Yameen

ryuryu2949 05-09-06 11:07 AM

BTW, Chris choices rock. Those are two of my favorite Elvis songs.

William Fuld 05-09-06 11:42 AM

Should be a fun show. "If I Can Dream" is one of Elvis' most powerful songs and if Elliot performs it well, especially if it's the last song of the night, I think he has a good shot to beat out McPhee.

FantasticVSDoom 05-09-06 11:53 AM

This is going to be a hard one to watch tonight...I think Katherine is going bye bye tonight, well tommorrow really.

yep they have themes up until the final 2 or 3. Last year's final four theme was Country Music & Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff songs. Final three was Clive Davis's Choice, Contestant's Choice, Judge's Choice. So that's not really a theme.

Ell-ee-ut go home!

(I got nothing...)

Struz 05-09-06 01:10 PM

Elliot is gone this week.
Chris next week.

magiccmom 05-09-06 01:42 PM

Think this is going to be a hard week for Elliot. He doesnt have the power in his voice you need for Elvis. Chris, Taylor and Katherine can all belt it out.

I'm thinking its a Chris vs. Taylor final.

Sweet Baby James 05-09-06 03:02 PM

I was really hoping that Taylor would get to sing "Suspicious Minds" because it's a perfect song for his psycho body gyrations. He'll have a tough enough time trying to top Eric Cartman's soulful rendition of "In the Ghetto". I wonder if Chris will be sporting his tough guy, 8th grade wallet chain. We'll find out in just a few hours.:)

I've never voted prior to a performance show before but, c'mon, we ALL know how this is gonna go down, right? Bye, bye, Elliott...

DVD Josh 05-09-06 04:14 PM

Elliott did the smartest play he could do - sing two obscure songs so as to stand out as himself and not an Elvis clone. It's really his only hope of staying on. Frankly, I don't think he has the fan base to stay in the competition any longer.

chowderhead 05-09-06 04:16 PM

I have a feeling that Taylor will spaz out during his rendition of Jailhouse Rock. Hopefully, all of elliot's votes will go to Katherine or Chris once he is eliminated tomorrow.

They'll go to Katherine, since she and Elliott tend to both fill the "soft ballad" bill.

On a totally off the wall note.. me and my fiance we're vacationing in memphis..and happened to be at graceland..at the exact time as the idols we're pulling up..they came over and greeted us.

It was kind of a strange thing..as no one expected it heh.

GuessWho 05-09-06 04:56 PM

Did you catch a McPheever?

Actually I did...during the show..while they are at graceland..if you hear someone shouting "I Have the Mcpheever!!"

Yeah that was me.

I was actually pretty loud shouting several times..

JMLEWIS1 05-09-06 06:32 PM

If I recall, Carrie did Trouble last year and sang it pretty well...I can't see him seeing it like she did though
