How much filler can they possibly put into this thing?

Maybe all the contestants will be on stage together to do a Queen tribute medley.

AND maybe we'll get some more of their highly amusing car commercial skits.

Bucky - A big step up. Not perfect vocally, but a fun performance. The arrangement was spot-on for a country song. This may have been his best performance, IMO.
Ace - Blah. Like a Disney Channel version of Queen. I still can't believe of all the falsetto songs they did he didn't try one of those. When Queen refuses to play your arrangement of their song, maybe you should just recognize it's a bad idea.
Kellie - Better than expected. The look was bizarre... it was kinda hot and kinda not at the same time. Her voice bounced between country and rocker far too many times. Her rocker voice actually sounded good here, and I'd like to see her try something like Joan Jett or Pat Benatar in the future. But it wasn't the total embarrassment I was expecting. Now, for the "on paper" comment... the schtick is getting old. I have probably said this here before, but it's like a three-year-old who does something cute and all the adults laugh. Then she does it again and again and again to try to get laughs, and the adults gradually start to feign laughter as it starts to get old. At which point her mom has to say, "Okay, Kellie, go over here and play. Grown-ups need to talk now."
Chris - Sounded like a lesser album track from one of those modern day rock bands Chris loves. As I've stated before, that is one of my least favorite musical genres, so I didn't care for it. I think he's talented, but based on his musical tastes I would never buy his album.
Katherine - She went with the safer song choice. Not sure it was the best move. While she sounded good enough, her slow song picks just start to blur together for me. She's not bringing anything new to the table anymore and it coudl be her downfall.
Elliot - Good. It lacked the bombast of the original, but he managed to make it work on his level. Even his sorta goofy look worked for him in this song.
Taylor - Not good. When he concentrates too much on the performance the music suffers. He's best when he really gets into the soul of a song and lets it live through him, but again he came off as over-rehearsed and not organic. The mikestand double kick was a dead giveaway. It may be fun to watch, but if you listened to that performance on the radio it would be a joke.
Paris - She sounded great in the practice with Queen, but flat and not good here. The outfit did her no favors either. Vocally she just wasn't up to her best. Also, the least memorable performance of the night (that's both good and bad, I suppose).

Taylor has been my favorite throughout but I must admit that Chris is better. It will be a shame if Chris doesn't win but I would be cool with Taylor, Katharine, Kellie, or even Elliott taking the prize. Sure beats Season 3 when we were faced with Fantasia Barrino, Diana Degarmo, and Jasmine Trias in the final 3. Ugh!! Season 4, however, had the best crop of idols IMO.

Anyone else notice the part when the panned over to the judges and Simon grabbed Paula's hands out of the air while she was cheering as if he was trying to tell her to stop? Maybe has something to do with that lawsuit that Paula is in where she's claiming she's hurt...meanwhile she's jumping around like a fool. Maybe Simon was trying to help her?

elliot's teeth being not so good are from having diabetes, I don't know that he got them fixed.
I think Chris doesn't need idol to get a record deal, or get in with a band as a singer, he'll be golden either way.

if it get's down to Taylor and Kellie in the finals...that would be horrible and it might start raining frogs...or at least one could only hope it would, as that'd be less predictable of things to come than that boring-ass final two show.
And I also noticed that Elliot isn't really ugly anymore....so maybe he did get his teeth fixed. And was it just me or did Elliot look rather large in that picture they showed?

I am a pretty big Queen fan and I was horrified at Constantine's raping of Bohemian Rhapsody last year. Pickler's version, while not great, was a million times better than that poseur version. I had to hold back vomit when Paula mentioned Constantine as doing the ultimate (or something like that) version of that song.
Bucky - Pretty good. Probably one of the best songs he could have picked for himself.
Ace - Horrible. I actually can't think of a Queen song that he could possibly sing well.
Kelly - Decent and better than expected. Maybe "Sail Away Sweet Sister" for her. It could country up a little better.
Taylor - I enjoyed it. He got to jump around. I would have liked to hear him try "Sleeping On The Sidewalk." That's in his range and a kind of bluesy tune.
Chris - Kudos to Chris for trying a harder to recognize Queen song but it is that way for a reason...it's a crappy song. I always hated that Queen used Innuendo as their first single off the same titled album as I felt it was one of their weakest songs ever. It killed that album (but to be honest...it is one of their all-time worst albums anyway). I was expecting him to sing "Stone Cold Crazy" since Metallica has done a version of it. I would have liked to see him try "Spread Your Wings." It has a harder edge and feels kind of barsy...if that's a word.
Elliott - Jesus...he absolutely destroyed one of my all time favorite Queen songs. George Michael did an great job but Elliott doesn't even have near the voice of George Michael. I think he could have still stayed in the R&B/Gospel sound with "Let Me Live" and probably did a better job.
Katherine - I thought she did an okay job with "Who Wants To Live Forever." I would have rather seen her bouncing around to "Don't Stop Me Now" but she probably would have ruined her vocals. How about "Save Me" for her. Still a pretty song but in my opinion the vocal for it can be sung a lot stronger.
Paris - Not terrible, not great. Another just okay performance. Better than some of the others but her style was what really made it weird. Gotta go with Simon on that one as kinda strange. It's also strange to hear women singing Queen songs so its tough for me to pick a different song for her.
And all of you thinking Kelly looked like Lita Ford. I was thinking of a blonde Joan Jett the entire time. She even had two black eyes...just like Jett.

Taylor was good but kind of boring. When he kicked it into high gear near the end it improved. Bucky was way too weak for the song. Chris was the best, I thought, even though it was a bad song choice (although I love that song.) He should have done Hammer to Fall, Stone Cold Crazy or something like that.
But really it was a terrible night. And between the tribute concert and other venues those songs have been covered so many times so much better (Who Wants to Live Forever: Seal, Show Must Go On: Elton John, SOmebody to Love: George Michael) that they reall needed to do better. This just pointed out what's missing from most of these kids: Any sort of individuality or independent spirit, which is what you need to pull off Queen. Plus I still think that We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody and We Are The Champions (which we thankfully didn't hear) are uncoverable in anything other thana tribute concert setting.

I had to laugh at the judges comments for Kellie performance, "she made it her own", WTF? That was one of the worst version of Bohemian Rhapsody.
And the others weren't any better.
It will be interesting to see who gets kicked out tonight.

Can someone please explain to me why we can't hear the entire song from these people? There is plenty of time and the songs they are picking need to be heard from beginning to end. I know that some portion of the song will be instrumental but so will any song they release in the future.
As for Suzy McNeil from RockStar...the reason she sucked as she had no stage personality. She came off completely fake when on stage.
And for Paris, during her song, all I could hear was her voice go into that song she sung at her first audition.

I would say that Suzy McNeil did as good as job as can be done in that situation. MiG had as much of the song to work with and he stank. (He also crapped up We Will Rock You, so what are ya gonna do.) Suzy was low on backstory but she had some really good performances. I thought that her "Bitter Tears" was the single best performance of an INXS song on that show and have listened to it many times since.

8 people x 5 minute songs = 40 minutes
8 people x 1.5 minute judge comments = 12 minutes
8 people x 1 minute intros/rehearsal footage = 8 minutes
8 people x 1 minute phone number announcements = 8 minutes
end of show recap = 3 minutes
8 minutes per half hour average commercial time = 16 minutes
that's squeezing 87 minutes into 60. songs gotta be cut.
and face it, when you see performances like last night, how can anyone watch 5 minutes straight without flipping channels mid-song?

First of all, 5 minute songs is pushing it. Most songs (sans Queen) are 3-4 minutes. Besides, they can make the show two hours. God knows American Idol can do anything they want and people will watch. Let people flip channels. They still get the ratings.

http://music.yahoo.com/video/2146214 [Innuendo]
Chris should've sang the part right after the Spanish guitar section by Steve Howe from Yes where Freddie says, "You can be anything you want to be, just turn yourself into anything you think that you could ever be, be free with your tempo, be free, be free, surrender your ego - be free, be free to yourself."
The lyrics fit the competition but that last note is a killer.
Ace should leave for insulting Brian...twice.
Maybe they'll play Innuendo tonight just to piss Simon and everyone off.

I think they were impressed because she actually remembered some of the words...
