Here's what I got from this episode: if you need a resupply of food, you let the timer count down, the super-magnet powers up, and a supply is pulled in (from some sort of satellite, perhaps - something far overhead anyway). If you don't need a resupply, you enter the numbers and the timer resets. If, say, an airplane is unfortunate enough to be travelling overhead while the magnet is running at full power, well...it's pretty clear what happens.

The only fault with that is that the "Lockdown" happened long before the timer ran out so.... What triggered the Lockdown?

It was tempting to buy that it's all in Hurley's head, since I remember one of the creators saying Hurley = ego, Jack = superego, and Sawyer = id.

The first time the counter went to zero? How many days ago was that? Maybe it takes a while to send a signal, or something.

Shades of St. Elsewhere crossed my mind with the Libby reveal. Either way, if you think that way, might as well stop watching now because it's going to be a big groaner by the time the show ends or get canned. I still got too much of a Gilligan's Island feel to this episode.

What if the Dharma food is psychotrophic?

I think it's more like a chapel but, yeah, that must be what he's building. (Why the show still tries to make it into some "secret project" makes no sense though - I just wish he'll finish the thing so we get more Eko in the eps!)

The whole Libby thing kinda makes sense to me cause it explains why she would like Hurley (moreso than the original theory). They can relate.

I think Eko is building a prison. (follow that yellow brick road)

I thought the whole food thing at the beginning was a dream or something... because who on a island seemingly in the middle of nowhere is going to throw away food?

At least the Libby reveal explained how someone that hot would go for Hurley. Good thing she wasn't playing with an island snow globe at the end.

Maybe 4 were injured and 2 died = 42.

This episode was weird for me. I was out of town for a week, so this was the first time I've watched 2 episodes back to back. After last week's awesome episode, this week's was a letdown, but it was still pretty good. There seemed to be more humor in this episode than in most, which also made it not play too well with the previous episode.

I've actually done the same thing with food that Hurley did once. It seems like there was another personal thing in that episode, but I can't recall it right now.

I can't believe I didn't catch the clues about Dave. I actually even thought for a split second that Dave wasn't real, but I guess I instantly dismissed it because I felt it was too obvious or overdone. I still liked the Dave thing, but if they're going to do something that obvious and overdone it really should have been better.

I thought Sawyer's quote was hilarious:
Sayer- Got so much food I can open a mini mart. Hey, know if Sayid needs a job?

On one of the extras from the first season one of the guys said that they got all the guys together and they 'wrote the scripts for the first couple of seasons". Assuming that's true, at least this season was already written before the show premiered and possibly the third as well. I find myself entertained every week and love the show. The only thing that sucks is that I didn't see the first season on air, only watched the DVD's, and either ABC in general or my local affiliate sucks the big one, cuz the PQ is horrible. The only things I watch on ABC are Lost, Monday Night Football and Saturday NCAA fball games.

According to that disgruntled writer who left after the first season (I forget the exact details, but thought he was a pretty big writer of the first season), they don't have a plan at all. It is all ad-libbed each week and they only attempt to tie in past events. Take that for what it is worth, from a disgruntled former writer.

I should look for that article, that came out around the time of the start of season 2. Does anyone have it handy?

This episode just proves once more that Sawyer is the best character on the show. Everyone else just keeps getting more petty and annoying.

Is anyone else just getting really tired of everyone's failure to every open up about what they are seeing and the strange things happening to them?
-The boys at the hatch never let anyone know what's going on (Henry, Numbers, etc.)
-Locke and Jack are always measuring their dicks in front of everyone
-Locke has not told anyone about his legs healing
-Again, the boys not being honest about the others
-Jack has not talked about seeing his dad, nor has he mentioned meeting Desmond before
-Hurley never tells anyone about the numbers
-Every stranger's obscure relation with one another in the past
etc....

The list keeps getting bigger the further you think back. Maybe this is a realistic portrayal of human nature, I dunno? It's just so annoying I think. All of these people miraculously survive a MASSIVE plane crash into water, and see all this wierd shit happening to themselves, and they refuse to just sit down and talk about it. By now, it should be pretty obvious that the crash was no freak accident, and something is happening here. No one is going to rescue them!

It's just getting a little ridiculous, and a major part of the shows decline for me.

Crazy theory time:

Okay so what if dave was real and he didnt die by falling off the island, but when underwater to an undergound cave under the island, would explain where the boat came from, and how they can move about.

What if libby and dave are others and they have been fucking with hurley. In the epsiode where kate found the costume and beard, were there slippers or robes in the room?

Like what if the characters in the backstories are the ones who brought them to the island. Ie. lockes dad, desmond, libby, sawyer.

They could have been brought because of their jobs, each different, a doctor, a cop, a soldier, priest, enginer, etc.. Jobs to restart a society. Those with crappy jobs weren't strong enough.

Also for the record I think libby is an other.

and what if walt was behind the entire thing and he is in fact the other who started it all with his magical powers!

They both did. Jack talked to locke after he saw his dad, shannon talked to sayid when she saw walt, hurley yelled at them to not blow up the hatch because of the numbers and he told charlie he won the lotto, but he wouldnt believe him.

But kate never told anyone about the beard and costume, and michael knew what the computer really did but didn't tell them about it. And whenever they meet an other they ask them stupid questions. So yeah they do only speak selectivly.

At least its not as bad as prision break.

I thought that maybe they'd keep Dave real, and go the "your entire time in the mental ward was just a mindfuck and I work for Dharma" route. That would have been interesting, but perhaps tilt the evidence of the island being a huge psych experiment too much one way.
