The pedant in me wants to point out that you're referring to the virgin conception of Jesus, not the immaculate conception of Mary. Mary was conceived normally, yet miraculously was born free of sin -- that's the immaculate conception.

The Lost fan in me says that after the island healed Locke's spine, taking care of Jin's testicles is no problem.

The "nobody has said it here but me*" me thinks that Sun's baby will look an awful lot like Michael!

henry is so an other

if he gave them the map sooner the lost would have said, well u killed the real henry gale and now u are pretending to be him to infiltrate us.

he holds off the map to the balloon to prove to them he's not an other because now the lost are going to use this to decide if he's an other or not.

he's a man who knows how and when to play his cards.
once he's one of the losties, he's gonna kidnap sun and charlie, hang charlie, take sun to another hatch and prepare sun's baby for thanksgiving

I think that Sun was artifitially inseminated by the guy who was giving her English lessons. Thus, she was not actually 'with' him.

Like I said in another thread after they found the "Others" costumes, Henry is an "Other", but this a more elaborate scheme to gain their trust. If they have clothes and fake beards... they just might have a balloon laying around somewhere to fake them out.

This is kind of what I think as well. Maybe "Henry Gale" is the universal male fake name for them that they are supposed to use if they are captured or under suspicion, and the balloon is just an extra step/precaution for that.

Did anybody else notice the way Henry worded his last few sentences?

"If I were one of these people who YOU THINK are your enemies, I would have drawn..."

Looks like he was saying that he is an Other, but the Others are not their enemies.

I think you might be onto something. After all, Zeke said that the only reason they were alive and on the island (I'm paraphrasing so forgive me) is because they let them. Even if they are evil, they may not be the worst thing on that island (The enemy of my enemy is my friend).

As for the rest of the episode, it was kind of boring to me. Sun and Jin are pretty boring characters to me and there really was no "Holy Crap!" moment in their flashbacks. The ending scene with Henry was great but the rest was only decent. Not enough Kate in this episode either!!
Next week does look nuts.

That's the only thing that gets me. When (and I forget his name) came face to face with the black smoke creature and stared it down...it was never mentioned at camp for any kind of plan. Same with the costumes.

Interesting theory that I don't completely disagree with, but don't forget Mr. Friendly and his pals firebombed the raft with Sawyer, Jin and Michael, presumably leaving them to drown.

And wasn't the other Ana-Lucia killed threatening, as well?

I think Sun was faithful and is telling the truth, but that look was very interesting. I think there is more to the theory of the island "healing" Jin. She generally looked baffled when it came up positive.

Either way the timeline works, she could have hooked up with the hotel guy the day before the flight or with Jin the first week on the island. So I don't think time is a clue in this case.

I'm with you. Last nights may not have been the most earth shattering backstory, but I enjoy their character development more than most of the other characters. Loved how Jin recalled/realized Sawyer calling him Daddy-O on the beach in front of Bernard.

Yep. I asked it as soon as Sun went to Sawyer. My wife thought it was funny as well, then Kate brings it up 10 minutes later. The writers were on top of that one.

What is with all the food? I thought they distributed everything. Hurley with the candybar & the jars of salad dressing, along with Jack/Locke/Henry having some cereal. What gives?

Amen to that. I can live without seeing him on screen screaming that every two seconds.

No one has mentioned Charlie's gun. He obviously got it from Sawyer for helping him "kidnap" Sun and hijack Locke's stash of weapons. Ana Lucia gave that off the cuff remark, "where'd you get a gun?" He gave it up easy enough to warrant them dropping the subject but it leads me to believe AL might piece it together in the near future.

Also very interesting that Sayid doesn't hold Ana Lucia responsible for Shannon's death and has all but forgiven her. Seems like when they get to camp, he's going to get medievil on Henry's ass.

I don't find Sun and Jin's back story all that interesting but it did give more insight into Sun's deceitful nature.

I feel pretty certain that Henry is an "other". Too many of his facts/excuses seem far fetched. It doesn't seem likely that he would have survived on his own (assuming the wife story is true). He would have had some interaction with the "others" even if he wasn't captured. Gale talks about the "others" as though he has no idea what the survivors are talking about. Even if Rousseau captured him (as he claims) he would have heard about the "others."

Next week's episode looks intense...

I hated that part, because that, along with the ranch dressing scene from a few episodes back, indicates the writers are simply making Hurly out to be the fat comic relief guy on the island, when his back story actually has some depth to it. He's a millionaire who was also in a mental institution. Why was he in a mental institution? What happened to the numbers that were cursed? What's this supposed connection he has with Libby? They have to be able to do more with him than just show him hording food all the time and "making funnies." Very few of the characters have been given even the slightest amount of depth or complexity. For a character driven show, that's not exactly a good thing.

I'm surprised no one has reversed the reverse-speech between Bernard and Sawyer to hear what it actually said.

It probably reveals everything

The main thing that gets me there is that he was able to draw up an accurate map of where the balloon is. I don't know how large the island is, but it seems to me that if he really did crash there and his wife really did die, he wouldn't exactly be studying the topography of the place.

Yeah, but the map wasn't really a map and only had...what...three points on there? Jungle as a big squiggly line. I'm curious how Sayid could take a momentary glance at that and be able to estimate how far away it is.

Polar bears, horses, psychics...nobody bats an eye. Sayid can read an ambigious map, and suddenly the shows unrealistic.

Well, I'm not really complaining about that.

The wussification of Locke and the continual reset-button-pressing of the characters (like Jin this week, which is something like the fifteenth episode where we learn that under his gruff exterior, he really loves his wife) bothers me more than those implausibilities.
