More evidence that time is screwy?
Totally agree - Jack said last night that they've been on the island for two months. That would make Aaron only about 4-5 weeks old... that's one BIG baby.

Hell, we were watching the premiere the other night and I noticed how much younger everyone looks (especially Sawyer.)

Decent episode last night. Much better than the last 3, but I still feel like they're being inconsistent with some of the characters. I know it's already been mentioned, but the beginning dialogue between Jack and Locke was like they had each done complete 180's from last week, with absolutely no explanation why. Also, as much as Locke likes feeling in control, I don't see him getting pissed so easily as he did at the end of the episode. Hopefully that was just acting for the benefit of their prisoner. Sawyer's still all over the place since his 'you took my stuff, so I took your guns!' nonsense a couple weeks ago. I think it'd have been much more interesting if his reason for taking the guns was that he didn't think Locke or Jack were the right people to be making decisions for everyone, as opposed to coming off like a pouty little bitch.
Anyway, my current theory is that the Others, who are mostly Dharma scientists, have found a way to produce some kind of serum that gives them special 'powers', i.e. increased strength and intelligence and maybe even ESP. The serum is produced by children's bodies/brains after subjecting them to some kind of drug treatment and then removed by the Others. Some children (i.e. Walt) produce purer or more powerful versions than others, due to genetics or whatever. The 'antidote' that the Others have to take is something that neutralizes some negative effect of the serum. I don't think there's been anything that would be at odds with that explanation.

it was your "impression" that she was drugged? She was OBVIOUSLY drugged. Just because we didn't see them drug her doesn't mean she wasn't. It was painfully obvious based on the way she was acting.

Anyone bothered by the complete lack of acknowledgment of what happened in the last episode, when the timer ran out? If Jack neither saw the hieroglyphs nor hear the mechanical noises, did Locke simply decide to not tell him about it?
It wouldn't be the first time, now that I think of it. Locke has yet to tell anybody he was a parapalegic before crashing on the island. He does tend to keep things-- even major events-- to himself: i.e. the hatch.
The most exciting moment for me was Kate's discovery of the costumes and makeup. For me, that was proof positive (finally) that the Others are indeed part of Dharma. But why evacuate the medical facility? And why, after it had been abandoned for only a month, did it look totally trashed and ruined? What could compel them to leave in a hurry and knock over the refrigerator on their way out?
As to why they would take everything but leave behind the makeup and costumes, I think it is possible that they probably keep several sets of "castaway" clothes stashed all over the island, so they can change into costume whenever and wherever they need to.
Finally, I want to defend Emilie de Ravin. I think she did a great job playing everything from fearful, furious determination to cheerful, complacent oblivion (while drugged). And her final moment with Aaron ("I'm so sorry I tried to give you away") brought tears to my eyes.

I'm pretty sure they're using two babies for the filming...one is a GIANT, the other is a decent baby size...because in some shots it's like they're holding a midget, then for the closeups, it's the "camera" baby....

The live baby is huge and frankly isn't very cute at all if you ask me.

That's pretty much what I was thinking too.As for the "big" baby, I thought there was some kind of law about using babies who are too young. I imaging that that child is a lot older than Aaron is supposed to be on the show. I'm guessing they'll have to replace the baby quite frequently if it keeps appearing or there will be an obvious disconnect since time moves so much slower on the island.

My theory is that Locke and Jack are setting up Gale, and that'll be explained later.
That's why they changed opinions. That's why Locke gave the book to Gale, to have a way to interact with him. And I think Locke is acting that he's affected by Gale's comments, throwing away stuff and looking angry. I don't think the Locke we know would fail so easy to Gale's comments.

Question for the big Lost fans: I was really into Season 1 but I've been so busy lately, I haven't seen one episode from Season 2 aside from the first episode. Which 3-4 episodes would you recommend me to download on iTunes (the best ones of the season so far)?

I'd suggest it's more like asking what 4 pages of the latest Michael Crichton novel to read.

Yeah, just start with the ones you haven't seen in order. With as many questions this show raises, you don't need additional questions that were answered in previous episodes you missed. At this point you might as well wait for the DVD.

I'd say the Premier, the one with Mr. Eko's back story and last nights. That would cover the most major plot points and spare you from a few filler episodes.
But of course the best path is to just watch them straight through.

"Man of Science, Man of Faith" (the season premiere, crucial for seeing what's in the hatch) - you've already seen this one, so no need to download it
"Adrift" (crucial for what happens to the guys on the raft after the Season 1 finale)
"Orientation" (crucial for info on why the hatch exists, aka the Dharma Initiative)
"The Other 48 Days" (crucial to learn about the "tailies")
"The 23rd Psalm" (crucial to learn about Mr. Eko and the heroin plane)
"The Hunting Party" (crucial to learn more about The Others)
"Maternity Leave" (crucial to learn about Claire's abduction and more about the Dharma Initiative and The Others)
The rest of Season 2 episodes are good for individual character development, but added very little to the overall mystery of the island (which is what most people are interesting in).
