I agree it was pretty obvious Veronica was in on the whole thing and while it's not as good as last seaon, it's still a good show.
They could get rid of a few more characters, *cough*Wallace*cough*, but Duncan is a good first start in that. I'm glad we haven't seen Wallace's girlfriend in a while, though she's still in the opening credits.
I liked them putting the Lost numbers in the fortune at the end. Had to rewind that scene twice to make sure.

"Even in bad crashes where a person doesn't end up in a coma, they don't remember the crash. It isn't a cop out, it is just reality. It isn't 24-esque amnesia, it is just the way things happen."
I've had two relatives who were in horrible crashes--one was in a car accident where a train hit the car and three passengers in the back were killed instantly. He remembered everything about the accident. My mom was in a serious car accident ten years ago. She had a minor head injury, but she remembered every bit of the accident. It is not a fact that everyone will blank out on the accident. This plot point was most decidedly a cop out.

Finally watched the episode tonight and unlike some of you, although predictable, I enjoyed the episode. In regards to whether this second season is worst than the first one, I'll reserve judgement until they finish off the season.
I think is pointless to argue whether season one is better than season two without having finished watching all of this season episodes.
The short story is that UPN pressured Rob Thomas to add some characters (especially a female "friend" for Veronica) in order to make Veronica Mars more appealing to new viewers.

My wife and I have now finished watching all of season one. We now see that we missed the boat on this show. We are hooked. We were able to find all the season two episodes to watch this weekend (wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more). We also don't know if Celeste was in on Duncan's get-a-way.
I think the show is still good, but it does seem all over the place this season. I want the show to go back to the bus crash case. I don't like how Veronica has gone completley outside of the law now. She always hid things from her dad, but she's become worse as the season has gone on.
I believe VM will only last 3 seasons. This show reminds me of one of my favorite TV shows - Twin Peaks. The first season is great, then the studio pressures the creator to make changes and the quality goes down.

I was trying to figure out why this episode felt so out of place for me and then it hit me. No Voice over. That was also a give away that Veronica was in on the whole babynap plot, because usually she is talking to the audience as she investigates and we didn't have that this week. Just my opinion and observation.

I really don't understand how everyone is saying this season is so bad compared to last year. I think Veronica Mars is one of the few shows that has successfully avoided a sophomore slump. I have been amazed at how this season has really hit the ground running with a new season-long mystery arc and yet they have also managed to further along other plotlines as well as also having mystery of the week cases, too.
I think this show is great the amount of information that is packed in each episode. You really almost need ot watch each episode twice, there is so much stuff going on. It is almost like the Anti-Lost.
I am enjoying this season every bit as much as I did last season and possibly more.

I got around to seeing the episode as well, and thought that it was pretty good. I am assuming that we will soon be seeing a VM/Logan relationship start up again so when Duncan comes back, we will have another love triangle.
Great to see Keith stand up for Veronica after tearing her a new one mere seconds before.

I agree with many of the posters, that the writers are trying to do too much. Lack of confidence in the story lines. Few likable characters are shining through the crowd. Where are the great moments with Logan, Weevil or Keith? They just are not happening.
Edit: I gotta say I like Sheriff Lamb more this season. His scenes with VM are some of the best.

I agree with you and a lot of the other posters here. It seemed as if in the first season, the story existed to serve the characters. This season, it's the other way around -- the characters exist to serve the story, and it's just not nearly as interesting. I still like Veronica Mars, but it doesn't inspire that same kind of frothing-at-the-mouth fandom that the first season did.

Color me clueless, but what meant the line "as long as it's not that favor Bobby Brown does for Whitney"?
I'm sure it's sexual (and, of course, Logan is saving all his love for Weevil) but I'm very unsure as to the specifics. Is this something that was covered on a 'Behind The Music' or 'MTV Cribs' or something?
I'm so culturally illiterate. I used to ALWAYS get the pop-culture references on 'My So-Called Life' and 'Buffy.' Now I just feel old.

What it was probably referring to was an ep of Being Bobby Brown. Whitney was telling Bobby he needed a colon cleansing; Bobby finally got tired of hearing it and told the camera about the time that Whitney had a turd so big that she couldn't squeeze it our herself, so he pulled it out with his own hands. To which an embarrassed Whitney finally said, ""My sisters were going, 'That's love! That's love! That's love -- black love!'"
All I have to say is that you asked for it!

Wow. Good to know. So, uh, you'll understand if I can't bring myself to say "thank you", then?
