The auditions DO seem long this year -- like longer than previous year's by a country mile. This is the 4th season I've watched and it seems to me that the show picked up to Hollywood sooner in previous years. Maybe it's just that this year's crop of people are kind of meh.

I think its because they changed the style of the episodes...previous years had more "fun in the waiting room" while this year is more 'endless home videos"

Im wondering...the waiting rooms NEVER look full...do you think that when Simon Cowell held out this year, he demanded that they see less people in the judges audition...and maybe added another layer of pre-auditions?

I missed the end of the Austin ep. Did the chick that said she thought her plane was going to crash--the one they said they'd let perform again later in the show--make the cut?

Patman 02-02-06 09:41 PM

No, that girl just didn't have the pipes.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the girl who could sing with her mouth closed. That was wild. I'm willing to bet 95% of the people watching immediately tried it.

Is that the one that's a "fit model"?

Finally! The auditions are over.

Damm, those twins were something. They were hot else even though the voice of the one that tried out for wasn't anything special.

tonymontana313 02-08-06 12:33 AM

The twin that was singing was drop dead gorgeous!

They both were ;)

I liked how they both had identical reactions to what the judges said (before the singing). And I agree that while they are hot, her singing won't take her too far in Hollywood. But I hope she gets some more air-time!

Patman 02-08-06 07:10 AM

How about Gomer Pyle singing "You Lift Me Up"? I was amazed he could sustain his baritone range for that song.

I was shocked that he actually could sing.

I was really annoyed by that Clay Aiken wannabe. Who really on their right mind go out of their way to look like Clay Aiken?

Charlie Goose 02-08-06 08:27 AM

Man, those twins were gorgeous. She was only a mediocre singer though.

I'm glad the auditions are done. Now let's get down to bidness. How many episodes will be about the Hollywood cuts before we get to the public voting?

That Clay Aiken wannabe made the real Clay Aiken look like John Wayne.

I was quite surprised the blonde girl who worked in the nursing home didn't get through. I even went back and watched it again to make sure her "biography" piece didn't cloud my judgement of my wanting her to make it. She had a better voice and was certianly more "likeable" than some of those who got through. Not as attractive as the "twins" but, a better singer and certainly nice looking.

Looking ahead at the upcoming episodes on my Tivo, it looks like tonight, and then next week. The description for next Wednesday stated the 'judges make their final picks for the top 12 boys and girls'

Don't take that as fact, but it seems about right, 3 episodes for hollywood week. Week of 2/20 should start the fan voting...

I wish there was more of the metal-duo who did "Joy to the World". Lead singer (dressed in fake armor and spikes, in a bad metal voice): "JOY TO THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!" ... uncomfortable pause ... turns to his buddy, and meekly asks, "line?".

Totally agree with you.
