Am I the only one who loved the Duluth bit? I don't usually watch snl, but I thought that was one of the best snl skits I've seen in a long time.
I know some people are worried that they'll overdo the Lazy Sunday thing, but I was disappointed that they didn't do one this week since they used those 2 guys for the ads. They were both on talk shows this past week too.

I hope Parnell and Samberg aren't pressured into doing a new Lazy Sunday for a while. It'll suck if it sounds forced and quickly thrown together. I remember they trotted out Debbie Downer just a few episodes after the first one w/ Lindsay Lohan, and it wasn't half as funny. Now I cringe when a new DD comes on, hoping it doesn't stink as bad as the last one. The Johnny Knoxville Christmas one was decent.
The only band as overrated as Death Cab are The Strokes. Back when I was subscribed to Spin I started believing someone was secretly paying them to mention certain acts (or put them on the cover). Both bands are decent imo but nowhere near as amazing and otherworldly as some salivating critics make them out to be. If they ever got massively popular they wouldn't be considered half as hip and cool. DCfC are Weezer-lite, musically pretty solid but pretty snoozeworthy otherwise. Good in the background of an OC episode while angsty teens bitch and moan I guess. I've come to the conclusion that Ben Gibbard's entire vocal range goes from soft whine to slightly loud whine.
I still like to give new music a chance, so hopefully The Strokes' new album will surprise me. Looking at their album list on AMG, it's interesting how each album is rated worse than the last. I guess the critics' boner for them has finally went down and they realize they're not much better than any sloppy garage/indie rock band.

After watching that, I wish they had just run "Lazy Sunday" into the ground like we expected. Put it on a loop for 90 minutes to drown out the horror that was this show. It's like some producer said, "Oh look, Parnell and the kid with all the teeth hit it big with a musical act, so I'll force everything to have a song in it this week." It was SNL: The Musical out there. And stealing the Bill Braksy sketch? Real clever. And Taco Town? Oh, and it was great to see Wiig for all of 4 seconds. I wonder which producers/writers she pissed off.
Btw, I believe they said "ESPN for fatties".

Majority of the skits were really lame. Scarlett Jo messed up quite a few times, and, IMO, she didn't even look that hot tonight.
I'm beginning to think that my other hunny, Jessica Alba, is actually a better actress.

I thought the animated opening short on Pat Robertson's kookiness was great and gave the show a strong start, but except for the "Sweet-16" skit (which I thought was very funny mainly because of SJ, and I've never seen whateverMTVshow it's spoofing), everything else on the show was pretty weak.
However, on the plus side, finally getting to see the show in Hi-Def was pretty sweet and SJ was a good host and looking pretty hot (especially in HD!), so it helped sitting through the bad skits go down easier than usual.

Ok, the following were HORRIBLE:
- Duluth Skit
- Ring Skit
- Closing Jane Austen movie skit
- Death Cab for Cutie (although I am in the minority on this one)
- Taco Town for the 30th time (but at least it wasn't Morgan Stanley)
Here is what was good:
- Monologue
- Tv Funhouse(s)
- Weekend Update (for once!)
- Deep House Dish
- My Super Sweet 16 (very good in my opinion)
- Scarlett's tig ol' bitties
The rest was just ok. So all in all, a very average show. Scarlett rocks, so th fact that this was just ok is disappointing.

IMO most bands sound like shit on tv, dont even know why they would do this...
death cab is an incredible and has been for many years, seems fitting that they suck on SNL though, given the show's suckiness

as for the show over all.. not great but I though a few of the skits where funny.. I liked Smorgasbord (ESPN for Fatties) and a few of the other ones.. The real problem with the show is the same thing we have been saying for the last few years.. The writing is just soooo bad and most of the skits don't have that unexpected edge that made SNL funny back in the day.
At least the Duluth skit was different and of course they beat it to death by going way, way too long. Even if that was the point of the joke. Eh, easy to tear down, harder to fix.. I'm just glad the show is in HD now to be honest..
I always get a few smiles here or there watching SNL so for me it's well worth recording/watching the show.

Anyone notice SJ's eyes were blue in pictures, but dark/brown on the show?
Samberg was on Letterman last week, and I think he said it took about 5 hours to shoot Lazy Sunday. Parnell was on Conan too. Apparently, it was Samberg's idea, that's where he got his start was by filming his own things with his friends.

I don't know, I'm actually pissed I'm still seeing some of these jackasses when Bill Hader, Finesse Mitchell and especially Kristen Wiig are around. I mean really, how much more of Horatio Sanz can I take at this point. Part of me thinks some of the cast don't want to proceed and when they get Maya back they all can rock it like it's 2001 again--and be even less funny...

pics of the sweet 16 but lighting shifts is seen as motion for HD and it tends to break up stuff..
anyways, back to the show.. I wonder why they do keep showing the same fake ad skits over and over? I mean I can understand as a time filler at the end but they have ran taco town 3+ times now at the start? Come on, earn your $$$ and come up with something new.
