I set my DVR and went to watch at a friend's house. When I got there an ad played saying the show was delayed 2.5 hours for an Iowa State/Drake University basketball game.
So I got to see it, but not record it
"It's not a trick, Michael... It's an illusion!" was great, as was Mr. Roboto, the Monster pic, George Sr.'s "Her?" and so much more.

Blame Fox for running it long, not the TiVo for doing it's job the way it was programmed.

You've got to be shitting me! We all know you work there, but damn, do you have to defend every move they make? No one said burn them down since the show went over the time and TIVO missed the last minute.

Why in the world is no one watching this show? It is absolutely the best thing on TV right now. It's been so long since we got new AD that I had lost that anxious feeling to watch the new ep, but once I turned it on it was gold.
I'll ditto loving the Monster bit and the ending was the greatest ever. Tobias gets the biggest laugh of the night and he wasn't even on screen at the time.
I pray that this show gets picked up by another network. I just can't believe that there is a chance that within a couple of months there will never again be a new episode of Arrested Development. Come on!

I think they just tape in "slots" so if you want to catch the beginning or end of certain shows, it's best to do a "custom" record and add a few minutes to the beginning and end. The Simpsons (and several of Fox's syndicated shows- Seinfeld) always start a minute or so early. The Daily Show does it occasionally as well.

You're blaming Fox for the actions of TIVO programed function. Dick Grayson has said it and it's nothing new for folks to pad out their TIVO recordings because it has been known and reported MANY MANY MANY MANY times here already that networks (Not just Fox) have in the past started earlier or later. You shouldn't assume that 8-8:30 is a solid time. They get them in advance but it's always subject to change and dependant on other factors through the day.
NBC did this last year If you don't pad out the show then you really have no one to blame besides yourself. Not to mention that the phrase "Fuck Fox" has been getting very old already.
Though to be completely honest, my comment was being made sarcasticlly.

"No, that's not my trick Michael...."
On the next Arrested Development
"... it's my illusion!"
That just might be the all time funniest thing, not just on AD but just out of EVERYTHING, that I've ever seen in my life. I broke into a fit of laughter unlike ever before, leading to tears, and then the part right after that where we heard the chaos and "Why am I not going under water? DEAR GOD, WHY AM I NOT GOING UNDER WATER!?", it just added to my reaction.
If this was the final episode, and we never saw another one again, I would have been perfectly happy with that ending to the entire series.
Wow.

The entire episode was great though, with plenty of one-liners and sight gags. The entire payoff of the Rita storyline wasn't finding out that she's retarded, but this episode made that ending of the episode the payoff. Even if it wasn't originally planned like that, it's still freaking genius. It just totally caught me off guard, in every sense of the words.
One of my other favorite moments/lines from the episode was when GM goes "Let's just say it would be cute if it was someone much younger." (his star wars fight started playing) and then he says "I'm sorry, we should get another tape...they're not expensive."
Most people don't mention Michael Cera's work on AD, but he's always been one of my favorite guys on the show. He has a very bright future ahead of him. He's got fantastic comedic timing.
Most of you wont understand this, but he also reminds me of Chester from "The Sifl & Olly Show" at times. It's the way he says things every now and then. Do any of you have any idea what I'm talking about there?
