Poor Dr. Mike Burton and I thought Dr. Jerome was harsh!

I still can't say I feel anything positive about Ana-Lucia. Sure, they made it seem like she has a heart, but the only redeeming quality she had in this episode was finally pegging Goodwin as the plant. Michelle Rodriguez is always the tough chick and when she cried, it failed to register with me at all.

I was also disappointed that Bernard didn't have as much faith in Rose as she had in him. No candy bar for Bernard!

Eko was good... but maybe the only reason why I think that is because he rarely talks.

I understand why people dislike Ana-Lucia, but her emotional breakdown by the stream showed me that for the most part, her brashness is mostly an act or defense. I'm interested to see some backstory for her in the coming episodes.

Also, I've never seen so many people bitch so much about a show that they apparently like, and continue to watch every week.

People wouldn't bitch about it if they didn't already have high expectations for it.

This episode was my least favorite episode of this season. It reminds me of the second episode when we had just been introduced to Desmond and proceeded to spend the hour learning about the fate of the raftaways. There is no doubt that it is interesting to learn about the fate of the rear passengers, but it is very annoying when they feel the need to string us along after witnessing a pivotal event.

Got to give credit to the tailies for sticking it out with fewer supplies and under greater threat than the big group.

LOST really needed this epsiode because before last night I didn't care at all about the tail-section characters. Not that I care much more about them now, but at least I understand each one of them a bit better...

I think the show has taken a HUGE plunge downhill ever since Mike, Sawyer and Jin hooked up with the tail-section guys. Most of the main cast has been totally ignored the past four or five episodes...it's almost as if we've been watching a spinoff to LOST instead of the actual show. I'm sticking with it because I'm a big fan, but I know several of my more casual-viewing friends have given up on the program because of the last few shows and the fact that ABC went three weeks without showing any new ones a few weeks back. I'm guessing a lot of casual viewers have dumped the series...and I'm sure that's news ABC doesn't want to hear.

The earlier poster who compared it to TWIN PEAKS isn't far off: great first season, frustrating second season! I have faith the show is going to make it to Season 3, but I'm a little more concerned that the series won't see a six or seven year run than I was at the beginning of Season 2.

I don't remember this part.

Can someone tell me what I missed of the beginning. I turned it on and the tail was sticking up out of the water and everyone was swimming toward the beach. Did I miss anything more than just the plane breaking apart?

That was about it. An opening shot of beach. Some noise and BOOOM tail section into the water and debris everywhere...

Did anyone else notice an octagon shape on the tailies beach when the camera paned out at one point? It was in the sand and I thought for sure I saw 3 or 4 sides of the shape.

I don't think Goodwin specifically said names were on the list. I thought he said descriptions like size, sex, hair color etc.

Just looked like tally marks to me. How many days he has been there.

Making us wait another week, especially coming off of a recent 3 week hiatus, is not cool.

And BTW, Ana Lucia still sucks.
I knew from the outset this episode would draw complaints. It is becoming quite predictible. You are only seeing the glass as half empty, they could have easily taken half the season to tell that half of the story, instead they allotted an hour. I thought it was handled quite well. I do want to see some of the back stories from this other group though.

I watched and re-watched the part of the shooting/shannon. I think it was edited better this episode. It was much harder to make out a distinction. It definitely seemed as Ana shot her this time around. I still don't think she did b/c Michael & Jin's responses would have been quite different.

So, were Bernard and his wife not seated next to each other? I thought she was just in the bathroom or something, but the seat next to him in the tree had someone else in it.

I did, but it was from a guy crawling around. He had a hurt leg.

I wondered about that too. I guess you could say that instead of trying to get back up to Rose, when the plane started having trouble he just strapped in to the nearest available seat.

I, for one, thought Nathan was involved. The whole Ethan/Nathan thing seemed to fit.

I like how some earlier questions were answered and now we can move forward toward a nice showdown between the Survivors and the Others.

Satisfying ep - lobbed out more questions, vaguely answered a couple, implied possibles for a few more. All of it sets up a new dynamic for the castaways, and what I hope will be continued forward progress on doling out answers. That's all I ask.

I'm speculating that Mr. Eko
Spoiler:
is or was a minister of some sort, that he was on the Nigerian drug plane from S1 and that he wants to blend in with the tailies and that he has had more personal contact with The Others than we know about yet.

I know I'm in the minority, but Ana kind of gives me the hot.....

I think Bernard was in the bathroom. They showed Jack next to Rose on the plane, they even had a few words together. She might have even said he was in the bathroom. I think Jack may have held her hand.

That is just it. All last season.. what happened to the tail section? What happened to those people? Are we gonna see the other survivors? I can't wait until they show us the tail section. etc. etc. etc.

We finally get it and people bitch because they are rehashing (a few, mind you) events. People need to set aside whatever expectations you have and just enjoy it as it unfolds. Or skip it and wait for DVD.

The pacing was a bit fast, but overall I think it worked. We got a bit of info and insight into the few survivors from the tail, and that is all we really need. They were in survival mode from the first night. No sitting on the beach waiting for a rescue, swimming in lakes, making love shacks, building multiple rafts, THEY WERE THE REAL SURVIVORS OF THE CRASH. Sound familiar? The first group are not the survivors we thought they were. Hmmmmm.

Sure, it's just a theory, but here's further fuel:
Eko took a self-imposed vow of silence after attacking/killing The Others and seemed particularly transfixed by the discovery of the bible in the bunker...

I thought it was a pretty good episode. I didn't care for some of the short "Day #" scenes in the beginning because it felt like I was watching deleted scenes from a DVD. It was cool to see what happened to them, but I'm ready for the groups to get together so the show can move forward.

I liked this episode, and have enjoyed the season thus far.

I'm wondering if there's two groups of Others. Ethan was an evil, mustache-twirling villain, whereas Goodwin was more sympathetic, and pointed out that his group takes good people. Also, Goodwin's group seems a lot more clever than Ethan was.

If there are two groups, then we must wonder: which group took Walt?

Mr. Eko is a great new character. He seems to be the most moral person on the series thus far.

The Nigerian drug runner(s) were impersonating ministers, not actual ministers. So why would he care about the Bible or take a vow of silence if that was the case? New found faith? He may be a minister, or some type of holy man, but, IMO, I don't think it has anything to do with the drug plane. Or if he was an actual minister, why would he be running drugs at all? Add to that, they showed him in the ocean, didn't they?

Perhaps he didn't know they were running drugs inside the religious statues, and he was on some missionary work bound for some remote location? Hmmmm...

He could have arrived on the beach to help rescue after hearing/seeing Flight 815 go down. Maybe he was close by, as was Goodwin, apparently.

What was the deal with the green puff of smoke when Shannon got shot? Did no one else think that was weird? I tried watching it in slo-mo and could make out some kind of image on her right hip, but I couldn't tell what it was.

Why is the other half of the island so scared of the others? They may have taken 11 of them, but Mr. Echo discovered there lone weakness: they die when getting pounded in the head with rocks! Huge rocks to the head are their kryptonite!

Ana-Lucia SUCKS!!!

I noticed that she drains all the HUMOR out of the show!! Before her, there was a great balance between drama and humor (Hurley, and Sawyer).

I just fear that the show is going to turn into the Ana Show!!

Hmm. Now you may be onto something. I'm gonna have to rewatch the crash to see if Eko starts out in the water. The earliest I remember of seeing him was helping the little boy.
