He said they took the strongest first? I thought that he said that they took the best people first. Whatever he said, it was my impression that they took the "purest" people which is why the kids were taken. And why Ana Lucia wasn't taken.

But then we couldn't call The Others "Tallie Wackers".

He said they take the "good" people. Which, if our guessing is correct about Mr. Eko, would explain a lot. If he is a man of faith then he might of been seen as a "good" person the first night. But by the second attack he had killed two of the the Others no longer making him "good".

The kids were taken in the second round. They took the strongest first (but not goodwin, because he was the other).

They were trying to take eko along with the other stronger men, but he fought back.

Actually if you want to get technical about it... its "tailees" as in abductee, trustee, and escapee. "ie" is used when pluralizing "y".

Not correct. The list was BOTH the first and second groups of persons.

He never said anything of the sort. He first said that they may have taken the strongest of the group. The then said that the children were safe. Then he said that Nathan was bad.

But he never said anything about "good " people.

Shit I hate nitpickign about this show, I honestly do.

I didn't read thru the 9 pages but did somebody see the car driving by far in the background while they were eating the mango? Was around 47 minutes into the show.

I'm pretty sure he said "good" people. It was not in the same conversation about them taking the strongest.

The strongest comment was when they were walking up the hill, before Ana outed him.

After she outed him, he said that they only took the "good" people.

Yeah, he definitley said they took the good people and that nathan wasn't a good person and that was why they didn't take him.

I like how some earlier questions were answered and now we can move forward toward a nice showdown between the Survivors and the Others.

The glass eye...I just checked out the Dharma video, I think Dr. Marvin Candle has a glass eye. I'll look for a screenshot.

It doesn't matter that if all things being equal you could whoop my ass in a 1 on 1 fight. You probably won't get that chance because I'm moving around like a ninja most of the time.

So what Ana and Eko killed a few of them. They still got away with a huge number of survivors. Add to that the fact that these people are in an unfamiliar place God knows where, and these Others seem to know the terrain rather well.

Then just for shits and giggles remember you can hear them in the forest and not see hide nor hair.

I'm just saying I don't think they need to all fight like Bruce Lee to make it credible that our survivors would fear them.

As far as Ana killing 2 of them - she is an L.A. cop. All cops are trained in hand to hand combat to a certain degree, some more than others. She is to our knowledge the most trained fighter of all the survivors. Certainly more well trained than a band member, a pregnant woman and a doctor. There is no reason to believe these Others are Master Killer Shaolin Monks so the fact that a girl cop could hit another girl in the head with a rock and kill her is not a leap of the imagination for me.

Spoiler:
on imdb, they list Dr. Marvin Candle in the next couple of episodes so we might find out more about that eye. Not sure if he'll appear in another film or in person. I'm hoping we get to see the underwater station where the power cable leads to.

I believe it leads FROM the ocean to the island.

I think they're a great story device when there is something to be learned, but every episode does seem like a little much, particularly when some of the flashbacks feel forced and not that interesting. I'd personally like to see more episodes without flashbacks and perhaps some episodes that are *totally* flashbacks.
I like the flashbacks when they seem relevant, but too often lately they've seemed arbitrary and forced. This episode was a good example of how an episode can work without flashbacks. I hope they keep this in mind for the future. When flashbacks are relevant to what's going on in the main story, fine, let's have them, but when they're there just to do a "Hurley" or a "Charlie" episode, screw it. Let the story flow, don't force it to fit the formula.

Fine, from then. I still believe that there is an underwater Dharma station for us to see where the shark came from. Maybe the others live there.

You again miss the obvious. What if it's a land shark?

I'm just kidding. Who the heck knows what's on this island? It's clear the creators don't.
