How does that explain Ana's spent weapon? Fuck if I know, but it certainly doesn't sound like a handgun.

We'll know eventually if this was supposed to be something significant. Until then, I really don't know that it means anything.

"A DOG IS A MAN AND A MAN IS A DOG"
...the morse code from bigspaceship1.com...
Speaking of the dog - people were complaining last season that Hurley wasn't losing weight, and actually maybe gaining a bit. I think they need to get Vincent on a diet! What a fat bastard!

Speaking of Vincent, her real name is Madison and though she's a she, she plays a male dog on Lost.
Really.

I wasn't able to watch this on Wednesday night, so I had to wait until Thursday. In the meantime those dicks at Yahoo decided to spoilerize the episode in their entertainment headlines. Have they never heard of Tivo?
Despite my disappointment in being spoiled, I still enjoyed the episode.

"There goes Sayid out of the tent with a 'be right back', I bet she gets it now... Nope."
"There she goes chasing after Walt with the dog. I bet the monster eats her... Nope not yet, Sayid found her at Boone's gravesite."
"There she goes again, chasing after Walt. The monster gets her this time for sure... Oops, shot by Anna? Wasn't expecting that..."

I think that Ana shot Vincent. He ran off before they saw Walt. The Others killed Shannon a small distance away but far enough away that Michael didn't hear Shannon screaming "Walt" (I think that would have alerted them that she was coming... and Michael would assume that he had been found). Sahyd (sp) heard the gun shot - it was close, but not what killed Shannon just in the same general direction. The person Sahyid is lookig at isn't Ana; but the other that killed Shannon. Michael & Jin's expressions would fit with the killing of Vincent as would Ana's (a dog?!).

And if so, could that mean Vincent is the "survivor who was lost forever" and that Shannon actually lives? I mean, it's silly, but we are talking about network marketing here.

They can still kill Shannon, but Vincent would be the one killed by "One of the other survivors". I have been told by friends that Vincent is in preview shots; so this is probably not how it happened.

I'm more and more convinced that they cleverly intercut the two scenes: Anna shooting at one of Others or the monster and Shannon being attacked by one of the Others or the monster. With Walt saying, "They're coming and they're close," implies the Others but the rain usually indicates the arrival of the monster. It's still possible Anna is there with Shannon at the end but there's no way she shoots her. Her wound is from the creature or a spear.
