Is it lawful of them to show the pervos without the pervos' permission? I thought they'd need consent of some sort.
|
Normally you do, I don't know how they got around it.
They may have gotten consent in exchange for some deal with the police, who knows. |
they should make this a weekly reality show. Bust the Perv.

I don't know if I could stand a show like this every week, it's funnier than SNL.
Oddly enough, Doctor Beck, that 50 something year old dude in the ball cap worked no more than 5 miles from my front door... http://www.perverted-justice.com/?archive=Gbabbnsp I didn't have anything to worry about. But if I was a 13 year old he'd probably give me a digital exam even if I came in with a headache. |
The part I didn't notice... the men fessed up to being adults on the chatrooms, right? I mean, they didn't pose as kids or anything. Do these guys really think there are loads of 13 year olds that want to hook up with old guys? I could see a 13 y.o. getting online and trying to hook up with a high school or college age person maybe, but a 40-50 y.o.? You'd think this whole thing would set up red flags to the offenders. Although, they are already messed up in the head so maybe not.

They are messed up in the head, no doubt. You can pretty much read people in IM--or at least I can. I think in the cases of those trolling dudes, something was pretty much in the way of rational thought...

You really have to wonder about those folks at perverted justice, the seem like the flip side of the same coin

One guy actually said that he felt sorry for the kid because he was home all alone and just wanted to keep him company until his parents got home. Yeah, right.
They all said that this was the first time they've ever done anything like this. Right again. When they talked to the DA, he said that there are tens of 1,000's of these guys online at a given moment... engaged in a chat w/ a minor about explicit sex. Scary stuff. And we also need to talk about the teens that are engaging in the discussions with them. Yes, they're the victims and they're being lured in. But.. they are in chatrooms engaging in some dangerous stuff. They feel like they're safe because they're speaking to a faceless person.. but then they get sucked in. Kids today have too much time on their hands. Too much alone time. I don't know what the answer is. |

Shows like these are all the more reason why kids should not be using the internet unsupervised. Didn't see this one that just aired, but the one I saw not long ago had a group of kids in a room and when asked how many had had some person on the net talk sex to them, all raised their hands. Where are the parents while these kids are chatting some to 40 year old perv? They just had a local news story about a girl in Vegas that got lured away via the internet to visit some dude (in Cali, I think it was). Lucky for her, the guy(s) she visited weren't of the rapist/murderer/molester variety and she made it back home ok.
Parents need to realize the internet isn't all Hello Kitty and Disney sites/chats. They also need to get it into their heads that the computer/internet isn't some kind of baby sitter that keeps the kids out of their hair all afternoon. Those shows make one very valid point, kids shouldn't have a computer in their room(with a net connection) where they can access it all alone...especially when the overwhelming majority of parents are not tech savy enough to apply filters, configure routers properly, etc. If parents did their job, shows like this would never be aired...there'd be no need. |
The show re-airs tonight on MSNBC at 7 and 11pm on the East coast.

I agree with everything you said. But.. even in the Hello Kitty and Disney chat forums, there are predators. That's how they get them lured in. They start out talking about G rated stuff and it slowly starts to turn. In all fairness, I don't think many 13 yr olds are going to into Disney chat rooms.. but they are going into Hilary Duff and the Britney Spears chat rooms and that's where these freaks lurk. I totally agree with you about parents taking responsibility. They do have parental locks on many ISP's. I highly recommend watching this if you can catch it tonight.. It's an eye-opener. |
Tonight (12/16) on Dateline, they are going to do a follow up on some of the men that were featured in the November 4th's show.
|
^^Thanks for the heads up. Just set up the tivo.

I was changing the channels last week and caught the preview for this. Oh my god! These guys walked in the house looking for the kids and the reporter of the story came out and they would jump and some even be interviewed.
One guy even got naked because he heard a voice and thought it was a kid. |

What a great update! It was the exact first show, with "On Monday, some may be charged with crimes, but we don't know who?" Shouldn't they have waited until next week so we could know?
|
Finally caught the show and I was shocked (in between the bouts of uncontrollable laughter). Those guys walking in so confident and then that reporter popping in and basically bringing them to tears. We got some sick people out there.
Man...anyone out there could be a child molester. I wonder if these people have actually molested before, because you don't just decide to visit an underaged kid on a whim. I also don't think many young teens are willing participants in sexual activities with middle aged men. They should show this stuff in schools and to parents, so they can see what's really going on. |
