Dateline NBC 11/4 8pm Online Predators BUSTED!
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4 - 8:00 PM ET
In a hidden camera investigation, Chris Hansen brings "Dateline" viewers yet another shocking report on adults trolling Internet chat rooms in pursuit of children. The broadcast includes startling confrontations between Hansen and men caught in the investigation, and the report offers parents advice about how to protect their children from this pervasive danger.
They've done this before where they have people pose as kids on line and pervs want to meet them for sex. When they show up Dateline is waiting for them. Some of them just run off when they see the cameras but some will actually talk to them and throw out all kinds of excusing on why they are there.

So if it's a 50-year-old pretending to be a 15-year-old pretending to be a 20-year-old, what exactly is the crime?

Any chance of replaying this?? I saw the second half, now I want to see what I missed in the beginning! This was a classic hidden camera bust...hilarious to see the expressions as Hansen walked into the room. And the excuses...wow.

Specialguy 29--aptly named. Kind of reminds me of that character Chris Parnell plays on Applachian Emergency Room.
I rolled when that one guy felt faint and laid on the floor. And all of those guys--they were so comfy in that house, drinking bottled water, raiding the fringe, I loved every minute of it...

Talks a lot of (gay, sick) balls to walk into a house like that.
Those (gay, sick) balls should be sliced off.
The saddest thing of all is a) it won't stop these sick fucks, and b) the police guy that was interviewed time and time again said "we might look into SOME of them." Some? Might? I respect the citizens group doing this to catch the baddies. Them and Shaq.

This show was unbelievable!
I think the reason some stayed for the 'interview' was that they thought Hansen was a detective and they had to stay cause they were caught.
The guys who took off probably could not believe they 'got away from the cops'!
The ER doc who sat there munching snacks was too much, as was the rabbi.
Nervous guy was into beastiality,
and inquired about involving a dog.
Couldn't believe some guys brought beer!
These guys lives are so totally ruined now I would think. I kept wondering how many of them were stringing themselves up as this show airing.
Naked specialguy29
Sick effers all of them.

Just watched it. Wow. Not good.
I think the website is perverted-justice.com
SpecialGuy29 looked to me that he might have been developmentally challenged. Still doesn't excuse what he did, but might explain why he did it twice.
A rabbi? A teacher? A army man? Unbelievable.

this was so scary. i was actually teary eyed at the prospect and thinking how many of those sickos are out there. and when the police said they were "actively investigating" only some of these cases, my heart broke. these guys have and will do again and the police investigating some?? they ALL should be locked up and put on the Sex Offenders registry for life.

I would think they are only investigating some because there were no actual minors making this only a finable offense, there is difference between asking minors for sex and being asked by a minor to come over for sex, and it is probably a waste of time trying to put men in jail that want sex with willing teens instead of putting men in jail that want to trick teens into having sex. I mean there are a endless supply of guys that will have sex teens. We remember the girls in highschool always going out with the college guys. hmmm I had girlfriend in college when I was in highschool. I don't feel molested but hell I'm not quit right either.
I didn't see the show so I could be wrong on all points. From this thread it doesn't sound like the guys were trying to trick kids into sex but were invited over to have sex. I really don't care if people want to go around having sex with teens. I do care about people raping, and drugging, tricking teens or adults for that matter into sex. Police should focus on that instead.
hmmmm these were teens right? Or were they pretending to be 10 year olds or something. Were they only pretending to be boys? How many people didn't show up?

BOH,
They were posing as 12, 13, and 14 year old girls and boys. At that age, I believe it to be the case in Virginia that consent is not legally possible. According to the information given the audience in the show, it is against the law to send pornography to even those posing as being underage and to make a date for an encounter with them. I don't know how much we should trust Dateline about that, but that is what they said.
I have to imagine the LEO said he would investigate and charge some of these men because of jurisdictional issues and because it is possible that some of the men involved didn't break a law. They mentioned that some of the men danced around the line with talk only of friendship, hugs, kisses, and possibly sex once the children were of legal age. They also mentioned that some of these men live in DC or Maryland while some of them are military personnel. It may be possible that they have some sort of compact or understanding with law enforcement in the region about where such things will be prosecuted. In addition, I imagine you'd want to get the members of the military dealt with in the military because of issues with burden of proof and harshness of punishment.
