all in all a pretty meh opener. if this is gonna be the last season, i hope they let them know early enought to let them do a proper series finale.
so is
the other thing that gets me is that unless she was working on her own, i wouldn't think there would be any way that a 4-5 months pregnant syd would be out in the field.

The girl that decrypted the file was Rachel Nichols, the actress that's supposedly going to be taking over for Jennifer Garner after this season (if there is another season).

It looked so funny when they tried covering up her belly. It was so obvious, even when she was running through the corn field.
So that's Rachel Nichols? Probably another case where she thinks she's working for the good guys, and comes over to the "real" good side after she finds out?

I wash my hands of this show. Just like Ross making the pro/con Rachel/Julie list and Tony Soprano having dreams directed by David Lynch, Vaughn's drawn out death was just too impossibly pointless for me to ever watch its show again. Shame on you J.J.

Why? J.J. Abrams had nothing to do with this episode aside from the fact that he created the show. I sorta liked this episode even though Vaughn's death was too drawn out. But I was getting a huge sense of deja-vu this whole ep. How many times has Sydney come under investigation? And how little does APO (or SD-6 and the CIA of previous seasons) screen people who flash badges in their main offices? Security is always asleep at the wheel.
So if Michael Vartan is still to be in the show, does this mean he will appear in flashbacks or that his death was a hoax? And why not replace Sydney with Nadia instead of some new chick we haven't the slightest knowledge of?

One thing i found particularly interesting: despite the fact that Sydney usually cries over every little thing, she didn't shed a single tear at Vaughn's funeral. I don't think she cried in the hospital when she was holding his cold, dead hand either.

That's it; I'm done. I knew the minute Vaughn stepped out of the car that he was toast though I am surprised he made it to the hospital (I mean really he's not Vito Corleone). My guess is there will be a lot of flashbacks but that just won't cut it for me.

Is Vaughn really really dead? I still don't know, this is, after all, Alias.
So that's what Rachel Nichols looks like when she smiles. I don't know if she cracked more than a wry smile while on "The Inside" this summer.
Renee is one rough looking chick.
How did Dean slip through, seems like shoddy verification under Jack's watch.

I don't know either. I'm sticking it out as this is in all likelihood the last hurrah. An OK start....better than quite a few Season 4 episodes. Not exactly high praise, but better than what I was expecting.

Is Vaughn really really dead?
He could have his head cut off, been shot 100 times with sniper bullets, been infected with the world's most deadliest viruses, or literally chopped up in pieces scattered all over the world and yet the writers still would have him come back in one piece.

During the shooting, I was actually thinking "boy, they're going out of their way to make it clear Vaughn's dead. They emptied about 30 bullets into him."
Then he shows up in the hospital, and regains consciousness no less.

Sydney feeding him the 'drink' just prior to his death? Sydney not breaking down into hysterics at the hospital? No shot of Vaughn in the casket at the funeral? Come on people...this is Alias. Of course he's alive.

Some of you over react big time. this show isnt nearly that bad to wish it would be cancelled. Its still a fun show to watch. I thought tonights episode wasnt bad. You act like this is the worst show on tv. Its far from it. I dont know why you would wish it to be cancelled.
One thing I wish is that the characters would take his death harder. cry more, especially Sydney. but besides that it was a pretty good opener.

As for the last 30 minutes, it seemed fine.
and what was that song playing at the funeral?

As for the episode, bleh. I think they should have taken a hiatus for her pregnancy. Bringing a baby doesn't fit well into the show. (evil thought) Or maybe they'll just have the baby killed at some point.
This sho is on a short leash for me. It is up against far too much for it to be this bad. It gets 2 more episodes to get me interested again. If it doesn't I'm done.

Oh man, seeing Vaughn get riddled with bullets was most satisfying. I've hated that guy since season 1 so this was great. I was laughing hysterically when they cut to shots of him getting blown away. Hopefully he's actually dead, although no one actually seemed that sad.
The song they played at the end was Dirty Little Secret by Sarah McLachlan.

I don't know why so many people are down on Alias. I still think it's a good show. The opener was pretty good and I'm looking forward to how Jen Garner's pregnancy plays out this season for Sydney.
I've read that so many people hated last season, but I thought it was really an improvement from season 3. There was more action and some really cool missions. Season 3 nearly bored me to tears at times with the Rambaldi BS and Lauren. I thought season 4 did a great job focusing more on action and espionage storylines.
I've been watching since Season 1 and will stick it out til the end, which is hopefully not this season.

They played Mad World at the beginning and end of CSI tonight...I don't recall it in Alias though, but it's in so many tv shows lately that it's a blurring together.

The ending musical montage is starting to get really annoying, BTW.
I've invested so much time in this show, I don't really want to drop it now. But, they aren't doing a lot to keep me coming back.
