Ah, the eternal struggle between the intellectuals and the unwashed masses. (btw, referring to Raymond + AD, not you)
"Everybody Loves Raymond" goes in the same bin as Full-Screen DVD's. Somewhere, an unholy deal was made, which explains their production. (and apparent popularity, through I don't know anybody who consumes either)

On the other hand, I guess that goes as well for the fans who think that anybody who doesn't like it is a fool and doesn't get it...

I dont find the show funny at all. Written well but yet... I dont laugh. This was on Sundays and got trounced by Extreme Home Makeover (which I watched over AD, but when EHM went into repeats I caught AD..didnt do nuthin for me) and now AD is on opposite King Of Queens? No way would I abandon Doug & Carrie over AD!
I see an end to AD on the horizon.

Ok, I figured this is the best thread to post this in. It's 12:45am and I'm in the middle of the 2nd episode of the 1st season laughing my ass off. Seriously. Michael just told George Michael to "stay on top" of his cousin and not to be afraid to "ride her". "Hard."

How about: The Young Ones? Coupling? Fawlty Towers? Men Behaving Badly? Bottom?
That being said, I love AD. I don't always find it laugh out loud funny, but it's not really that kind of show. I always enjoy the heck out of watching it and feel most of the humor hits the mark.

I personally love this show, but I realized that I care about that in soap-ish way. As in, I care about those people and just want to know what happens to them. I wondered in GOB will ever find his son, whether relationships of Buster and Lucille II will work out and all this stuff. For me it's like soap opera with sense of humour.
Weird of course but here you go.

Funny show, but I just don't like any of the characters. I guess I have to empathize with them to find them interesting.
Seems to be a theme in modern edgy comedies. (ie. The Office)
Strangers With Candy is my exception ;-P
Some shows are just a lot of work to watch. I don't mind that in drama, but I find it less rewarding in a comedy.

I'm almost done with the first season and I can't believe I've been missing this!!!! I have a lot of catching up to do. Now I see why some people prefer this over Scrubs. I put them on equal standing.
If I were to make one little complain, it's the narration. I mean, it worked for the pilot with all the introductions but sometimes it just seems like it dumbs the shown down too much. For example, when the guards detained GOB in front of the trailer where his parents were getting it on, I didn't need the narration telling me that. I--and I believe most others as well--could've figured that out easily.

Maybe Fox will pull their heads out of their asses and move it back to Sunday nights behind the Simpsons, when The War at Home gets the ax.

It won't make a difference. Mon 8 pm is a rather benign timeslot and it still doesn't draw viewers. You can blame FOX for a lot of boneheaded moves, but you can't blame FOX at all for how they've handled this show.

Except the first season when you would have to do research to know this program was going to be broadcast and what Sunday it would actually run.

I disagree. At least they have a decent lead in with the Simpsons. What do they have now? Local news or whatever dreck is playing in the spot before. This is not a type of show that should be the foundation for a night of TV. It should be the show after a stronger show so it has a good lead in.

I think it is too early for AD to get dropped, they will probably shuffle it around again. Possibly just totally swap it with Prison Break and put AD on at 9.

RE: "Arrested Development" being moved to Mondays. I don't blame Fox for the move. The show had BEEN in a great time slot, right after "The Simpsons," for two years, and it still couldn't get an audience. Why not try it on a different night, where there was less competition?
RE: Being replaced with a "Prison Break" rerun on Oct. 10. This was part of the plan all along: Baseball playoff season is coming, and most of the shows that have had their season premieres are going on hiatus until it's over, including "Arrested Development," "The Simpsons" and "Prison Break" (to name a few that matter to me). That "Prison Break" rerun will air if it needs to, depending on the length of the baseball game. It might not air at all.

I spent some time earlier reading thru the first threads around here about AD. It was nice to see the threads getting longer and longer as the series progressed. Can't believe people were seriously anticipating it was going to get cancelled from the get go.
