Very poor first episode, in my opinion.

I would disagree with the "poor" review, I thought it was pretty funny. To me, it's very similiar to The Office in humor, delivery, and uncomfortable situations.

I absolutely love The Office. Can't wait until september to catch this new show. I hope HBO shows it in 'true HD".

I thought it was OK, but not "The Office" quality. I'll still be watching.

I've seen the first two episodes now. It's a very good show, should be right up the alley of "Office" fans. Very similar in tone and humor (although "Extras" is not shot as a documentary). It's probably not as subtle...there seemed to be more "laugh out loud" moments.

I do think that the episodes may have been shown out of order. The second episode is a better introduction to the characters, but I think they showed the other one first because of:

Spoiler:
Ben Stiller

Is it Office Season 1 funny or Office Season 2 funny? Office Season 1 being a bit more light hearted and easier to laugh at than some of the darkness found in Season 2.

I'm enjoying it so far. Though not as funny as the Office, it's still pretty funny.

The bit with
Spoiler:
Vinnie Jones and Ross Kemp was pretty funny, especially if you've ever watched Ross Kemp on Eastenders.

also
Spoiler:
I like that Ricky's character, while not being a big success, is also not a buffoon. He's got some quick comebacks, like the Ben Stiller bit.

Looking forward to more!

Enjoyed the second episode, even if I only vaguely knew who the guest-stars were this week.

Are you sure? I haven't watched them yet. Should I watch ep 2 first?

In hindsight, I would say that episode 1 would be more enjoyable had I seen episode 2 first.

They may have switched the order, but its how the bbc aired the shows originally. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2nd one esp with the Grant from Eastenders, and barry.

That 3rd (Kate Winslet) episode was classic.

The first two were funny, but this was genius-level stuff. I'll never think of Kate Winslet the same way again. She should do more comedies, her timing is perfect.

I've seen 3 of the episodes, and it's okay, not great. There's a laugh or two, mostly coming from off-the-cuff conversations between Gervais' character and another female extra, Maggie, but there's not a lot of comedic tension that made The Office a funnier viewing experience.

There are some laughs that derive from embarrassing situations, but some of the cameos fall a little flat (Ben Stiller), though Kate Winslet's "current" tact on picking roles to finally win an Oscar is cute enough from her delivery of her lines.

Third episode with Kate Winslet was awesome ! she was hell funny!

Overall very subtle comedy, even more so than the office i think

I love it, but i could understand others finding it boring

I love the interaction between Gervais and his agent, good stuff.

The part where he's "found out" was uncomfortable humor on the length to rival any Office scene.

Took me forever to realise who his agent was. well took me till the credits, its the co-writer of the office, I thought he looked a lot like Gareth.

Yes that was uncomfortable, my mrs hates that stuff, but she watched the ep with it, and started laughing, so I paused it and went back a min or so, so we could see it again

He was also in a few episodes of "The Office" as Gareth's friend Oggy (with the buggy eyes).

Yeah, Stephen Merchant is a funny looking dude, but he's not all that good an actor.
