I am still wondering how some of these episodes will translate with the very heavy Brit slant, especially with respect to a couple of guest stars (not the one in this episode though).

This is a great episode, although it's not the one I would choose to show first. If it were up to me, I'd start with episode 2, which does a better job of introducing the characters.

What's weird is every UK thread I read said they showed the episodes out of order
2,1,3 because of the US Market. and they all though the 2nd one should have been shown first, you are correct it introduces the characters much better.
I think this has the most lol moments in it

I think the Kate Winslet episode is the best one. I thought, overall, it was okay, maybe a little too Brit-centric, and not as accessible to an American audience. You will roll your eyes at Maggie at least a dozen times throughout the 6-episode run because I could believe how little sense she truly possessed at times.

Saw the first episode. Funny stuff. The scene with Andy at his agent's office was extra funny because his agent seemed cut from the same cloth as David Brent (Gervais's character on the Office). "When the W Blows; W=Wind"
Unfortunately, TiVo cut off as Winslett was explaining that another way to win an Oscar was to play a mental. Was there much after that?

I thought it was really funny. Kate Winslet was absolutely hilarious. I haven't seen any other episodes, but this one definitely had me laughing at many points. I missed Gervais, and he was in rare form. Had the laugh out loud moments, but still had the uncomfortable scenes like the Office. Definitely will be watching this one.

The exchange with the priest and Kate making obscene gestures had my laughing hysterically for about 10 minutes straight. It started off really slow, but got good quickly. I'm guessing 6 episodes won't be enough to keep me happy.

Actually, this episode, along with the finale with Patrick Stewart are the better episodes of the 6-episode run. Unless you are familiar with British actors and shows, the other 2 will be less interesting, and then there's 2 other episodes featuring American stars that are okay, one of over-the-top, and the other is underwhelming.

Kate and the priest? She was making obscene gestures with Gervais wasn't she?

I was very pleasantly surprised by how funny the scene with Merchant was, and it was one of the highlights of the show for me.
I love Gervais' comedy of embarrassment, much like a less cartoony form of Larry David's. Fans of the original The Office will not be disappointed, while it is different enough to stand on it's own merits.

I just watched it tonight from my DVR, it's staying on all season. I laughed out loud many times, which is rare for new shows.
The funniest parts for me were (and I'm not ashamed of this) when they were making fun of the girl with CP and focusing on her walk for a few seconds. It's easy to make fun of the mental, but to be funny while doing so is great.
I was annoyed by the widescreen inside my widescreen, though. HD should be used to it's fullest!
