Jennifer Garner being nominated for this season of Alias? Now that's a joke. She was great in a few (three or four) episodes and spent the rest of the season dragging her heels. She's probably entered the 'gets nominated every goddamn year regardless of her acting quality' sphere now. How Victor Garber didn't get nommed for supporting actor is baffling; he totally owned Alias with Ron Rifkin.
I'm hoping against hope that 'Three Stories' from House wins best episode, because that was absolutely brilliant. 'Walkabout' will probably win, but that's a good episode, too, so it won't piss me off as much as other things.

Yeah - that is pretty much how it works, unfortunately.
On that note, I am shocked that CSI didn't get nominated this year much like I was shocked last year that Law & Order didn't get nominated.

Clancy brown should have taken Kiefer Sutherland's place (have not seen house, huff or boston legal) and he was better than ian mcshane but he does deserve to be on the list.
And the show itself was a lot better than any of the shows on the list for best drama series.
It did get a best score nomination and that was nice.

Once again, Gilmore Girls gets the shaft from the Academy. When will they wake up and see what an awesome show it is? Much better than Will and Grace, IMO.
As good as some of the episodes were on the West Wing this season, especially the finale, there were some terrible ones (90 Miles Away), I wouldn't have put it in my top 5 for drama.
For the love of all that is good, when will John C. McGinley get recognized for his terrific work on Scrubs?
Glad to see Arrested Development prove that you don't need huge numbers to be a sucess.
All of the networks have got to be thanking their lucky stars that The Sopranos wasn't elgible, because you can bet it'll be back with a vengeance next year.

The lead actor category competition was VERY full (at least 8 actors were worthy). I was not surprised to see Hall missing, but Krause had Falling Into Place. Hello Emmy people.
But I wouldn't say the Drama Actor category ISN'T strong. I mean, Hugh Laurie for House?

Glad Scrubs is finally in, but until Gilmore Girls gets some recognition (minimally for writing, but also for Graham and series), I really can't take all of this very seriously.

I wish Kevin Dillon was nominated for Entourage.
I'm happy for the cast of Huff, all well deserved noms.
My prediction is that Raymond will win most of it's rewards since it was their last year and the emmys still likes network tv over cable.
Hope and think Clones Wars will win in it's category.
I'm a big former Will and Grace fan, but it's way past it's prime. Some of it's noms deserved to go to new fresh edgy shows like Entourage.
Give me a break on West Wing. How West Wing beats out superior shows like The Sopranos and Six Feet Under is beyond me.

There is nothing wrong with that. One episode is enough for the Guest award.

So add my voice to the chorus of these awards being a joke (though the nods are a lot better this year). The biggest miffup IMHO is Battlestar Galactica not getting a nod for best dramatic series. I certainly think it was as good if not better than anything they have listed. Could have taken the place of 24 (even though the season was really good) or West Wing easily. I wish the show was on a more "credible" station like HBO or something so maybe it could have gotten a bit more attention, but whatever. Like someone said, scifi/genre shows don't get much love.
I feel bad for the Gilmore Girls camp. I like the show, but feel like it's not near the greatness of past seasons when it should have been cleaning up the awards shows. I fear that shows window has passed and thats a shame.
I feel for Jess Bell as she should totally be up there. Emily VanCamp from Everwood not getting a nod is just criminal. Fucking criminal. Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke (Scrubs) should have recieved nods too but oh well.
I am really pleased to see House getting some love though. Hugh and the show were just amazing; especially after they hit their stride. I really hope "Three Stories" wins.
The Will & Grace shit is out of control. I don't watch the show, but is it really that deserving? I watch a few eps here and there and though there were good/funny, but that was ages ago.

Great interview with Bill Lawrence, creator of Scrubs, talking about the Emmy nom and also him taking shots at the dumbasses in charge of NBC.
TVGuide.com: How do you feel?
Bill Lawrence: I'm very grateful. It means more than you could imagine to the cast and writers and crew, 'cause it was tough to come back to a fifth year of this show when it didn't even have enough support from NBC to be on the fall lineup. This was kind of validation. It made it a lot easier to be at work.
TVGuide.com: Why do you think it finally happened this year?
Lawrence: Two things. The Emmys are like a fraternity. And once you're in, unless you have a real crappy season, it's hard to get drummed out when you're a high-quality show. And a lot of high-quality shows moved on. I always felt like we were right on the fringe of breaking in there. The other thing that helped us, to tell you the truth, is that Scrubs was neither a giant ratings juggernaut nor was it one of those shows like Arrested Development that we all loved but felt needed to be embraced by the Emmys to keep surviving. And I think now that we're finally truly getting treated like crap and pulled from the schedule and stuff, people are feeling on some level that it's underappreciated. I think the community rallied for us a little bit, and that made us all happy here.
TVGuide.com: Are you going to do anything to celebrate today?
Lawrence: You know what? We're just sitting around having more fun working and coming up with stories for the show.
TVGuide.com: Have you started work on the new season yet?
Lawrence: We haven't started shooting yet. We start on Aug. 29 when Zach [Braff]'s finished with his movie.
TVGuide.com: So, was there some truth to NBC's contention that it was Zach's summer movie schedule that forced them to delay Scrubs' premiere?
Lawrence: No. They let him do the movie after they decided it wasn't [going to be] on in the fall.
TVGuide.com: Interesting... Has NBC given you any indication when the show will return?
Lawrence: I would imagine as soon as [one of their new shows] craters. Just like in the past, [Scrubs] will come in and be a Band-Aid somewhere.
TVGuide.com: Has anyone at NBC called you today?
Lawrence: [NBC head] Jeff Zucker called me and was really gracious and nice and said it's been a long time coming. He was very cool.
TVGuide.com: Did you give him a hard time about keeping Scrubs off the schedule?
Lawrence: I don't ultimately think it was his decision. [NBC Entertainment President] Kevin Reilly's running that network; I think that was his call.
TVGuide.com: Now that you're in such a good mood, what can you tell me about the new season. I want scoop!
Lawrence: We don't have a ton yet because we've taken the attitude this year that we aren't really gonna do a lot of stunt casting. That is something NBC always pushes you to do, and you do it because you worry about being pulled during sweeps or not [being] promoted if you don't do it. But that's going to happen to us anyway, so we're just going to do whatever the hell we want to do.
TVGuide.com: So no stunt casting at all?
Lawrence: The one thing I can tell you is I think we got Mandy Moore on the show. Zach is friends with her, so he got her to come on the show for fun.
TVGuide.com: Is it just one episode?
Lawrence: You gotta talk to her, man. I'm hoping that I can get her to do a couple more.
TVGuide.com: But the one episode is definite?
Lawrence: She said she'd do it, but nothing's ever definite in acting until someone signs on the dotted line.
TVGuide.com: Will she play Zach's girlfriend?
Lawrence: I don't know. She's such a talented young lady, she can play whatever the hell she wants to.
TVGuide.com: Cool. Well, thanks for the scoop, and congrats again!
Lawrence: Thanks, Mike. And thanks for all your support. I really appreciate it.

What's with all the West Wing hate? I'll be the first to admit that the show lost something when Sorkin was booted, and after season five I feared for the worst, but this season has been consistantlt great. Even with the attrocious NBC promos that left absolutely no doubt who the democratic nom would be, I was still on the edge of my seat for every episode. It seems like it's fashionable to rag on the supposed "once great" shows that have now "outstayed their welcome", but I'll take a current West Wing episode over the best Lost or Desperate Houswives ep, hands down.

Nothing wrong with West Wing. S6 was entertaining for the most part. I just think that there were 8 or so dramas that were better than it this past season, so it wasn't even on the bubble IMO.

Agreed. I enjoyed much of this past season (although the campaign was far more interesting than the day-to-day ops), but compared to everything else that was on, it's lucky to be in the Top 10. No hatred here by any stretch, just recognition that it's not one of the elite anymore and was not one of the 5 best dramas of the season. Of course, neither was 24, but that's not stopping it either.

Gilmore Girls has the best writing, acting and direction I have seen on any television series and it can't even get a nomination? I guess the voters still think there are only three networks.
