hehe my mom watches the Shield and always comments on how filthy it is and says things like "how do they let them get away with that?"

But every week she's back watching it again!

I thought the same thing. Didn't even bother to check for previews.

How many episodes are left this year?

I'm always partial to the season finale of S1 (or is it S2?). That scene with Overcome by Live is just great.

Just watched this episode on my DVR.

Man.....getting good. I'd agree with many of the statements. Close was brilliant and that scene in the interrogation room was intense!

Gonna finish the season then go back and watch 'em all over. Saving every episode on my DVR.

It still feels like the Aceveda plot is tacked on, just thrown in there to give him something to do rather than just swoop in and spy on Monica.

She was hammering Antwon with that story about him as a kid. I almost felt bad for him. Even Vic didn't know how to react.

Yeah, I agree that Assinvada really should be off the show, but his prescence is pretty minimal so I'll still watch as the show is still great.

I bet you Aceveda comes back as captain next year since Close is leaving.

Great episode. Best one of the season.

Anthony Anderson is awesome. Who knew with all those lame kiddie movies he does.

Yeah, especially during that scene with Acaveda and his wife. He kept apologizing to his wife and I was like "what the hell is he sorry for?"

That whore was a hundred times more understanding about his rape than his wife was. She was all about blaming him and how was she going to deal with it. He should have left her then.

I got my mom turned onto the show this season and she's the type that would normally agree with the PTC (although she's not the letter-writing type). I do sort of squirm in my seat when I hear lines like "suck my balls, daddy" or see the faux rape stuff with Aceveda and the prostitue, while sitting next to my mom. But she's digging this show.

The only season of this show that I haven't seen is the third. On this episode's "previously on" it must have showed some stuff from then. I'd heard about Aceveda's rape, but Dutch strangling a cat? WTF?!

Yeah Dutch killed a kitty. It was pretty screwed up. But it made him a better detective, dammit.

Hope the same thing doesn't happen to Vic's ex-wife.

If Anthoney Anderson doesn't win an Emmy, then something's wrong here!

Yeah, Dutch killed a cat after a killer he was interrogating showed Dutch that he knew nothing about a killers real motives.

It was one of the creepiest scenes ever.

Ditto that bigtime. At the time I thought this was going to be the beginning of Dutchboy's conversion into something evil. However I like how it's made him into a better detective. It was great to watch how he was starting to break through Kleavon's shell because he knew that deep down he's a killer.

Yeah, I heard this last night at dinner. Did she decide she didn't like the role after all? During the press junket for this season, she was going on and on about how great it was doing the show, etc. Maybe she was only ever intended to be there for one season? I doubt Aceveda would return as the captain... he's a newly elected offical on the city council. Unless the stuff with the hooker somehow gets him in trouble....

No, she lives on the East Coast. The show is done on the West Coast. She didn't like being there because she's got a daughter in HS.

Maybe they will bring in Meryl Streep next.
Or Sally Field.

I think Assinvader pissed too many cops off before he left and currently to be able to return as a Captain. Just bring in another captain.

I would assume that a city councilman has a term longer than one year. Unless he gets kicked out of office or resigns from office (at which point he would probably no longer be suitable to be a police captain either), I don't think they could make him captain again so soon.

I'd rather they went with someone different. He's butted heads with Vic long enough. Their interaction would probably start to feel stale if he was captain again.

even though Claudette is probably still on the shitlist with the DA's office, maybe they'll make her captain since she doesn't get along with Vic ..could be interesting..Claudette's "former" partner is dating Vic's wife..now Claudette is Vic's boss..Vic is pissed at Dutch (for dating his "ex" wife) ..Claudette is pissed at Dutch (for going behind her back to the DA) ...Vic is pissed at Claudette (because he doesn't like her?) ....maybe...not..

I think with the sucess of Close, the'll try to find another quality actor to fill a spot 'legitimized' by Glen Close, Chiklis' Emmys, and the shows rep in general.

I'm hoping for Barbara Streisand or Rosie O'Donnell.

Having a new actor play the captain would be very realistic. I've been at my station for 6 years and have gone through 5 Captains. The higher ups move far more often than regular line cops.

I think the fact she definitely isn't coming back next year sets her up to go out in a blaze of glory in the season finale.
