It will be interesting to see if Scott hangs on tonight, simply because...like many other posters, I voted for the guy. I thought several others last night were worse than Scott (Anthony, Constantine, and sadly...Carrie) and didn't think he got a fair shake from the judges.

It's like every damn week, no matter what, Randy is going to praise Carrie and bash Scott. Sorry judges, but Carrie was HORRIBLE last night, and was pretty bad last week too. Overall, she's still a far better performer than people like Scott and Anthony, but if last night was my first exposure to her, I wouldn't have been very impressed.

Why did Scott sing "Dance with my Father"? That song seems pretty gender specific to me...

Simon said that Carrie's song appealed to her fans, presumably the "country" vote. But isn't there an entire "country American Idol" show? Why alienate so much of the fans who want to see you sing pop?

Paula previously said she was acting zany because she was so "happy," so maybe the recent controversy's sobered her up?

I agree with many here, though. This was the most disinterested I've been this season, mainly because of the performances.

You are right about this. I noticed yesterday that she seems much more in "control" than the past few weeks.

It will be interesting to see who will get kicked out tonight.

Listening to the local sports station, they were playing clips from last night's show after the commercial breaks. I didn't think Bo sounded all that good last night, but hearing it again he was even worse. I'm convinced that he has no shot at winning. He peaked early with Whipping Post and Drift Away. Constantine will probably outlast Bo.

Vonzell on the other hand, sounded better than I remember, though the radio station didn't play the beginning, where I thought she was a little rough. Granted, I didn't know it was a Christina Aguilera song, which would explain all the needless runs.

I like Bo because I like rock music. Simple as that. I guess I like the fact that he got to this point and isn't finding the need to change who he is...

I was never a Vonzell fan but noticed in the past few weeks how gorgeous she is which of course qualifies her to be a pop star.

Oh and I still think Vonzell will win the competition with Bo coming in second.

Actually, it's a Luther Vandross song.

I missed the show last night due to work so I have nothing constructive to add to the convo this week other than my usual:

I hate Randy and Paula.

There, now I feel better.

Voted for Federov just 'cuz he's lowest on my depth chart. Next would be Constantin-ople who should really change his name to Istanbul to keep up with the times.
1. Bo
2. Carrie
3. Vonzell
4. Scott
5. Istanbul
6. Federov
(Disregarding last night's performances of course)

I wonder... would "country music 'super'star" (if Carrie were to be one like say Martina McBride) make more $'s than a 'good' "pop star"? I say that because maybe Carrie's strategy should be to sing the heck out of every country song she can and build fanbase so that when she loses in 3rd or 2nd place, she can demand much bigger dollars since the country crowd would be licking their chops to hear her sing more country? Just a thought...

Well, we are talking about a network show with an enormous viewer base vs. a cable show that gave up on finding talented people. Taking the risk of alienating people who want to hear pop is probably far better than going the "Nashville Star" route.

And I'll bet more country fans know the AI winners (and Clay) than know the 3 NS winners.

I don't mind anyone singing their favorite genre as long as they can move to others when needed. Carrie's problem last night was that she didn't bother to choose a country song that showed off her talent.

Carrie ... Okay, I guess. Hell, I really don't know. It's hard for me to judge songs like that.

Bo ... A so-so cover. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't as good as the original. Bo's theatrics and energy were great in the beginning, but they're bordering on 'Spinal Tap' now.

Vonzell ... Best of the night, but even she was off.

Anthony ... I hate Celine and I'm not familiar with that song. All I can say is, that was bad even by Celine Dion song standards.

Constantine ... Like Bo, a so-so cover. He took a kinda dull song and tried to 'liven' it up a little, but it didn't work. I didn't think it was horrible, but it was unremarkable.

Scott ... That was so dull I couldn't even bother to decide if I liked his vocals. Boring song, I've never heard the Luther version but I can't imagine even he would make me like it.

At this point I don't even think I care who wins this. My early favorites are either gone (Nadia) or have been consistently so-so lately (Bo, Carrie). I think Vonzell has pulled ahead as my favorite, but that has as much to do with her personality as it does her vocal skills.

"Dance With My Father" is on Luther's CD of the same name and is a great song. It was one his last singles before he had his stroke.

Come to think of it, Luther - post stroke - could sing that song better than Scott.

It's time that Carrie and Constantine got a taste of the bottom three.

Scott's probably going to be leaving tonight, but I'd love to see Carrie get the boot to shake things up. She's been backsliding hard, and if she can stay out of the bottom three this week, it would appear that she has a fanbase strong enough to carry her all the way.

Boy, "Emotion" as a group song was a regular kick in the sack.

Wow. Really surprised. Definitely not the worst last night.

Only in America can a fat weirdo and a girly European not get booted off.
