I know many people think this is a cop out and Jeff was wrongly influncing things, but he ALWAYS does that in tribal council - he points out all the big stuff so everyone has to think before they vote. If he rocks the boat and planned voting strategies fly out the window, it makes for more thrilling viewing... an unexpected twist (at least once cleverly editted I'm sure)! Ultimately, it is the idiot contestants that VOTE so to say that Jeff manipulates the game... well, let's say that Bush bought the 2000 election with his $300 tax return. -rolleyes-

Usually Jeff asks questions that make them think. I'd have to re-watch or see a transcript but he went a lot further last night. I believe he was the first to suggest she quit. Then he made it easy for her to quit, unlike Osten. He gave Osten all kinds of hell for wanting to quit. There is now way Osten would have been allowed on the Jury if he had made it that far.

Red Dog 04-22-05 08:46 AM

That smile on Steph's face at the end was priceless. Even if she loses, I have to think she may go down as the most popular player in Survivor to date.

Janu was simply worthless from Day 1. I can't figure out how she is a Vegas showgirl - she has no chest whatsoever. I'll never understand why weak people such as her do this show, unless it is just a potential stepping stone for a show business career.

Red Dog 04-22-05 08:49 AM

If these women are smart, they band together and vote the men off, particularly Tom the first chance they get. That may be a big IF though. ;)

Actually Janu scurried up a tree like a monkey the first episode to tie up their shelter, but that was the last time she was usefull. She also has that body every dancer wishes they had, and I mean real dancers, not the ones you/we are used to dealing with. ;)

cdollaz 04-22-05 08:54 AM

Jeff was leading and pestering Janu way too much. If she wants to quit, then fine I guess. But she should have to go to Jeff on her own and say it, not have him badger her and ask her repeatedly.

I actually do not think someone should be allowed to quit until the rest of the people vote on it. After Janu said she wanted to quit, they then should have voted whether or not to allow it.

Tom really got screwed when he talked about the game at TC and then Janu quit. What he said could bite him in the ass with Stephanie.

I like Tom, but he is a moron if he doesn't figure out a way to get rid of Greg - and fast.

It's almost as if he's not ready to start playing the game for real and get dirty. He had the numbers last night to get rid of Greg or Jen. Then they could get rid of the other the next week. I firmly believe that had Jeff thought that anyone but Steph was going home, he wouldn't have pressed the issue like that.

Josh-da-man 04-22-05 09:04 AM

One of the cool things about Survivor is that Jeff fucks with them during TC. He didn't make Janu quit, but he might've influenced her decision. Plus, we have to keep in mind that there is much to TC than we are shown, so we really don't know what went on Janu; there could've been a lot more that was edited out.

The difference with Osten is that he quit even though Savage and the others had agreed to vote him out. Janu wasn't going to be voted out, so she threw a monkey wrench into the game.

I don't know as it would be proper to force anyone to play the game against their will. If someone wants out at any time, they should be allowed to leave immediately. No vote.

Since there was no vote, there is no way of telling what might have happened. Basically Tom's immunity was worthless. How smartly anyone is playing this game right now is pretty vague (except for Steph). They unanimously voted out Coby - that's it. For what we have been SHOWN, only Greg has been playing with any real strategy. IMO one of the men need to go next.

Most showgirls (not strippers) I've seen have some evidence of breasticles.

She has got to be the worst contestant ever. It's a shame that 2 people got kicked off after a couple days in the school yard pick 'em at the begginning and she stayed. I think Janu was looking to quit for the entire game and she finally found a reason to quit.

actually, Jeff told her that she would be the second member of the jury.

you can't force anyone to play this game, esp. given their living conditions. What if someone gets really sick or gets hurt out there? Then Survivor would have a lawsuit on their hands.

Hey Cusm: go vote in the DVDTalk Mock Football Draft. Minnesota is on the clock.

I'm saying that she shouldn't be allowed. She quit the game.

they have to cuz they need an odd # of ppl in the jury so that there isn't a tie. If she wasn't on the jury, then there would only be 6 ppl instead of 7 on the jury.

maingon 04-22-05 10:28 AM

i want Steph to win so badly

maingon 04-22-05 10:31 AM

i dont understand, if they are so worried about getting the strongest one off, why not get Tom , he wins everything, hes using everyone to get rid of really strong competitors then he will be the only strong one and will then probably be smooth sailing for him

Vonner 04-22-05 10:33 AM

Because he had immunity. And the others are all blind to his play. Except Gregg.

It doesn't matter that he has had immunity, the main plan should be to get rid of Tom, then have a backup plan in case he gets immunity.

metman86 04-22-05 11:01 AM

Is it true that the players in this game have no idea who Rob and Amber are? Is this game is being played when Rob and Ambers game was being televised? A friend of mine just told me this when I said to him that other players should not allow a couple to get into the final four, it is suicide.
I think that Steph and Tom would be a great final two. I am rooting for both of them. Although I was a little upset knowing Tom was gonna vote for Steph to be voted off, I can not believe he thinks she is his biggest threat.

brainee 04-22-05 11:04 AM

I'm not getting Tom's strategy now either. Him, Ian, Katie, and Steph -- that's final four guaranteed (and with his strength in challenges, sub-alliance with Ian, and lack of "back-stabbing" to the jury puts him in great shape to win the whole thing). Much as I dread the thought of another "couple" getting to the end, with the girl getting a "coattails" victory, Greg's game plan seems stronger. If Tom loses an immunity challenge, he may be the next to go. Outside that, I'm not liking Steph's chances next week. The previews suggest a women's alliance, but that could just be an advertising smoke-screen. She needs to get Tom, Ian, and Katie to see the light. Now would be the time to bring up Coby's information that Greg and Jenn were plotting with him to switch sides. Greg would deny it (and Coby's not there for his side), but just planting that seed of doubt is all that's needed.

Was Janu's performance in that challenge the all-time worst in Survivor history? I mean, 5 freakin' minutes!?! Who CAN'T do at least that? And Jeff wasn't even offering food. Maybe that'll teach the producers to not cast so many "model-type" contestants.

sinned 04-22-05 11:20 AM

Janu = most worthless Survivor contestant ever. How did she get through the audition process? Hell, even that singing old lady that was booted out (not picked) on the first day would have been better.

Based from the previews next week, since what usually happens is always the opposite, I bet Stephanie gets the boot after a failed power play.

Thats not even worst this season. That goes to Karyn who couldn't even hold up the 20 lb backpack for more than a few steps before falling down and quiting. I think Janu quit more because she was cold than anything else.

I still think they need to stop picking contestants that are already skinny. They should pick cute women that are about 20 lbs over weight and by the end, they'd be hotties. Speaking of food, does it seem like they are giving out way too much food anymore? It just seems like these people are basically getting a lot more food than in previous seasons.

Yea, I realize that but they can do something creative. Maybe put Bobby Jon into the jury since he was the last off. I would guarantee that they wouldn't have allowed Osten to be in the jury if he would have gotten to that point. The only reason they are sympathetic to Janu in this case is because it allowed Stephanie to stay in the game and they knew people would love her.

I dunno man,Scout was pretty fucking useless.Everyone would be running/swimming or whatever during the challenges and she would basically be walking because she just physically could not compete at all.
