hilarious episode.

and man, Jim can ball! i wonder if that was really him doing the behind the back dribbling and all, or just some floppy haired guy. i wasn't home to watch it in HD, so I couldn't tell.

dwight was hitting his shots, too. and it was pretty funny that the big bald guy (forget his name) was hitting all the shots after the game was over.

i was amazed at just how funny this episode was, considering most of it was devoted to shots of the basketball game (which were hilarious). i was just surprised that the actual game took up so much of the show. Daring move, and it worked out.

First completely original episode! And it worked well. Very funny. Hope to see more original stuff in the future.

Best moment for me was the montage of Michael trying to dunk. Patrice O' Neal suddenly raising the hoop back up to the normal level was genius.

This could be the funniest sports-related 30 minute show of all time. I loved how genuine the basketball footage was, and how quickly the jokes flew.

I thought the first episode of the series, which used a UK script, was bad. But with their own scripts, the show is coming together. I agree that Michael is not nearly as sympathetic a character as was Gervais' in the original, but if the show can stand on its own, that's great. Dwight is simply awesome.

Too many good moments in the show. Dwight with the head gear, the line from the preview where the boss says "of course your playing" to Stanley, Stanley dribbling, etc. I don't watch much TV, but I have really been enjoying this show, sad to see it only have a 6 episode season.

The funny thing about the face mask is that both Jim and Michael got hit in the nose with elbows.

Man I can't believe no one has mentioned the best line of the night, from when Michael was trying to get Pam to be their cheerleader.

Overweight Female Worker: I'll do it.

Michael: Oh yuck, that's even worse than you playing! ...I mean congratulations, you just made the team.

My wife and I were laughing so hard we had to pause it for about half a minute so we wouldn't miss anything.

I kept laughing everytime they showed Patrice. I just hope that Lil' Jimmy can upstage him in the Louis C.K. show.

I still don't like the Dwight character but the rest of them are close to the originals for me.

How did we end up with only one show left? I was shocked to see the "coming up on the Season Finale" clip at the end...

Great episode. I hope they pick this show up for some more episodes next season, as a mid season replacement if nothing else. This show has quickly climbed to must see television for me.

Anyone know how the ratings have been lately?

Never watched the UK show... LOVE this one. Funniest thing on TV. I too have (sadly) worked with people like Michael. They capture that attitude perfectly.

By the way, this was a brilliant episode.

See Post #10, Page 1.

Certainly the best episode of the season so far, plenty of great lines. Completely agree with Red Dog about the show being wildly uneven, however.

I agree great episode......this show better return.

I also love how Dwight is so power hungry that he hid the safety kit so that he could be safety monitor. When that woman asked where it was and Dwight held it up proudly, I lost it......

Question......

I have never seen the UK version of this show. I absolutely love the American version. Would it be worth a blind buy to buy the complete series of the UK one?

IMO, the UK version is superior in just about every way: the characters, the jokes, the scripts. In no way moreso than Michael vs. David Brent. Ricky Gervais pulls off that character in a much more brilliant fashion. While you just want to punch Michael in the face, David you have a small amount of sympathy for.

In other words, that'd be a "yes".

Michael came off as too much of an over the top racist this time with the baseball/boxing line. He could have been way more subtle and the joke still would have worked.

I do like how Michael is being played differently than David, because any show is going to be a pale imitation of the BBC one, so at least this makes things different.

Although I really liked how different Pam was from Dawn in the first episode, I find that there is really no chemesty between her and... well, anyone... It's not that she's a bad actress so much as she doesn't actually seem to like Jim when she's talking to him.

Anyways, I just see this show as getting better. I hope it sticks around.

Best episode yet. Only 6?! They are just getting warmed up!

I agree that Michael is coming off as a complete asshole, but you know what? This isn't a remake, more of a re-imagining of the BBC. And quite frankly who hasn't had an asshole boss like him? For that it is truely realistic.

Through 11+ years at my current job, I've had more than 10 different supervisors. Not a single one comes remotely close to "asshole".

Which is why there isn't a TV show based on your job.

honestly, he's a lot like my current boss.

well, my current boss is nicer, but he will say some of the most unprofessional things... it's strange.

Well, thanks to MNSBC for repeating this show. I think they showed the first and third episode last night. Laughed my ass off. Absolutely, one of the funniest sitcoms I've seen in years. Kudos to the great supporting cast.

Man, I just can't decide if I like this show or not. I know that sounds stupid, but the show is just so hit-and-miss with me. And when it misses, it misses BIG TIME.

Still, I caught the repeat of the last episode (the basketball game) on MSNBC last night and I thought it was pretty good, but it didn't hold a candle to even the worst episode of the BBC series. Maybe I just like the original too much to let myself like this dumbed down remake, but at least I'm giving it a chance.
