I'm surprised no flight attendants have surfaced yet. We had the pilot early on but still no flight attendants. That would seem like a natural person to explore for a main character.

Probably so. It's something you have to go to the dr. and ask to find out in most cases.

And most people don't care enough to hassle as we just foolishly assume (hope) we'll never need to know.

Or that are fortunately extremely healthy like me and avoid doctors and needles as much as possible.

Yeah, but we don't know when Jack got married to Sarah. In the flashbacks, it appeared that his relationship with his father hadn't soured yet, so it very well could have been 5-6 years ago. Ooo Ooo....another theory:
Spoiler:
Maybe Jack's father had an affair with Sarah, leading to the breakup of the marriage and Jack hating his father. His father took to drinking over guilt over what happened...the rest you know.
Maybe?

I'm amazed by your statement. You are giving up on the entire show because they killed off a character? I don't understand how people can get so caught up in what they think the show should be doing, instead of watching it and accepting the show for what it is doing. With this attitude, you are almost always going to be let down, because the direction of the show will almost never match up with your own imagining.

Also, I think it's a bit presumptive to assume that your way of thinking is the right one, and we are all waiting to overcome our collective brainwashing.

I'm not as done as sabre but my patience is wearing thin. The article I read a few months ago with David Fury said that ABC Wanted to string it out and I think that's going to be the shows undoing. Maybe that's why he decided to leave. I can't quote him but he said something along the lines of how long are people going to hang in there if they aren't getting answers.
Last night we got more questions and nothing answered as usual.

Sorry to see Boone go. I am going to miss those eyes.

I agree. If I stop watching it will be because it's too drug out.

I mean it's been a couple months since they first found that hatch, and they've still shown us nothing about what's in it. Same with other mysteries.

Question, where is the African American Woman that talked to Charlie a few times at the beginning of the season? You never see her which seems a bit odd to me.

That's why a lot of us thought Boone wouldn't die.

I read in an interview with one of the creators/producers (either Damon or JJ) that the woman that plays Rose was shooting a movie or something so she was unavailable but she will be back before the season end.

Okay, I'll buy that. It's just a constant worry for me that this beautiful buildup is going to be ruined.

From the previews:
Spoiler:
"ALL your questions will be answered by season's end"

I think that's a pretty hard promise to live up to!

Well actually, one of the flight attendants did surface...but they reburied her and then had to disipline the dog.

So will Abrahms put Somerhalder on Alias next season to make up for this?

Or stick him in Mission: Impossible 3?

According to tvguide.com: Lost's dearly departed castaway, Ian Somerhalder, is already plotting his ABC comeback. According to Variety, the network has signed the actor to a one-year talent holding deal that calls for him to star in a series next year. And if that doesn't take the sting out of his recent, high-profile job loss, Somerhalder has also been cast in The Breed, an indie feature set on — you're not going to believe this — a mysterious island teeming with wild, ferociously intelligent dogs.

When the plane runs into the turbulance and everyone gets to their seats, wouldn't all the flight attendants go to their "seats" at the front and/or rear of the plane? That being the case, the tail was ripped off (no one survived as far as we know) and the only one that survived from the nose section was the ill-fated pilot. They have not gone back to that wreckage yet, so it doesn't really surprise me that we haven't seen much from flight attendants.

If the accident tied in, I would say she smashed into Locke's car, putting him into a wheelchair.
If I remember right she said she hit an SUV head on. So unless Locke trades in his VW Beetle for an SUV this doesn't seem to fit.

I don't need answers every week. it isn't like the episodes are a complete snore. Last night the survivors had to deal with the birth of a baby and the death of a survivor due to the limited resourses of the island. I thought it is always entertaining whether we learn something new or not. Seems a lot of people have an idea of how the show should be in their mind instead of enjoying it for what it is.

I HAVE TO HAVE ANSWERS NOW OR I"M NOT WATCHING ANYMORE. Boo hoo.

I look at it like the X-files, you have your mythology episodes and sprinkled in with those you have your stand-alone episodes. All are entertaining in their own way. Some people will be fans of the sci-fi/story-arc aspect and others will be entertained by the great character piece they are building. And some will love both.

ABC will air a one-hour "introductory guide" to Lost. The special is designed to help new viewers catch up on the series' sometimes dense mythology as well as act as a refresher course for regular fans. The "Lost" special, set to air on Wednesday, April 27 at 8:00/7:00c (the show's regular time period), will focus on the characters of Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly), Locke (Terry O'Quinn), Sawyer (Josh Holloway) and Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) and retell their respective backstories in a linear fashion. It's unclear however how the clips will be introduced and if the hour will include any "behind-the-scenes"-type footage. Source: TheFutonCritic

Anyone know where I can download the preview for the next new episode? The episode I downloaded didn't include the 'next episode' preview. Thanks!

I mean we're like 20 episodes in and they've pretty much answered nothing. No idea what the thing is in the jungle. No idea why Locke can walk after crash. No idea whats in the hatch. No idea where Ethan came from. And so on.

I think people are afraid it will end up like the X-files where nothing major every truly gets answered.

That is a risk they run. I think that I started getting frustrated with The X-Files around the third season... just a little voice in the back of my head whispering bullshit -- they don't know what they're doing.

I haven't yet gotten that feeling from "Lost" yet. I won't be able to judge until I see the season finale.

The problem with a series like "Lost" or "X-Files" that 1) relies on secrets and mysteries, and 2) is a monster hit, is that the studios see a formula that they want to milk as long as possible. So when you start solving the mysteries, you lose the show's hook. But at the same time, you run the risk of convoluting the show's mythology and running it into the ground without resolving anything. X-Files again.

"Lost" is a limited concept for a show. They're only going to be able to take it so far. There's a lot they can do within that framework, but at some point, the mysteries will have to be solved and the show will have to end. I should that ABC is smart enough to let the storyline run its natural course, and that four or five "tight" seasons of the show would be preferable to six or seven that just drag on and on until the audience is depleted and the series is inceremoniously cancelled.

I am strongly in the this is the x-files on an island camp there are so many unanswered questions, that if it was me on the island I'd be figuring out.

1st thing I would do is walk the island, around the outside, take about 3 or 4 people and check it out. Start getting out there and seeing stuff. Too much nothing happening, no way if I was stranded on an island I would not have covered as much as I could by end of week 1.

Its week 4+ and no-one has walked all the way around? and by the looks of it Lockes treks into the island are all of 2 minutes with the speed that people run from one place to the next.

I'm really surprised there was is so much confusion in this thread about the number of survivors. The whole reason we know there was 48 was through dialogue in the first episode.... when Jack&Kate&Charlie find the cockpit, the pilot asks Jack how many survivors and Jack tells the pilot there was 48 survivors.

Then the marshall died leaving 47
Then the lady died swimming leaving 46
Then Ethan killed Scott or Steve leaving 45
Then Boone dying left 44

Claire's baby being born doesn't count as a "survivor", there are still 44 original "survivors".
