I thought both Sun and Jin were excellent tonight.

Edit - Never mind, it was already indicated by someone.

There were 48 in the beginning, right? They lost the agent, the drowner, the engine guy, Scott or Steve (I forget), and Boone.
48 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 = 43 + 1 (Claire's Baby) = 44... 44 was the number on Jack's fiance's shirt. I'm sure that doesn't mean anything other than they know the remaining headcount as well. Or just an amazing coincidence
They're getting awfully close to the 42 at the end of "the numbers" as well...

Although I suppose you're right, seeing how the clips were taken from more than one episode.

Now THIS is the kind of Lost episode that I like! Non of that sci-fi mystical island bullshit. Just normal shit happening to the people on the island and them dealing with it.

About what was seen in the preview... just because something was shown doesn't mean it will actually occur on the island. It could be part of a dream or vision. In fact, I'd count on it. When they show you something "shocking" in the previews, it's seldom what it appears to be.

Good job by the writers of "humanizing" Jin. He was very likable and somewhat funny this episode.

how many episodes are left? from the previews, i gathered that there were a few and that the scenes being shown are not necessarily all from the next episode.
as for this one, it was good but i felt a bit of a cop out with boone. now if they would have killed someone else as a surprise and boone lived, THAT would've been shocking. as other have said, julie bowen...
this just made me hate nbc even more for cancelling ed.

You're forgetting the pilot.

Damn... I liked Boone. Well, guess there certainly wasn't a huge surprise, though it was a bit drawn out. Then again, I suppose its more realistic that way.
This was the first time I watched the "previews", and they really didn't seem to preview much in the first place.

Huge agreement. Both are tremendous in their roles. It also doesn't hurt that Sun is stunning.

Great episode. Very moving and I loved the contrast between life and death by cutting between Claire and the baby and Boone dying.
Loved Jack storming off after Locke at the end as well. Hate having to wait a month for a new episode though!

Arrgghh!! I accidently cut off my DVR with (presumably) a few mins. left.
It cut off just as Jack was walking along the beach to tell Shannon and Said that Boone was dead.
Can someone fill me in on what happened after that?

Phil L.:
Kate just watched Jack tell the news to Shannon. Then Jack was sitting by himself and Kate came to him, he said Boone didn't die, he was murdered, and he's going to find Locke.

What Ranger said, plus a shot of Shannon weeping at the side of dead Boone...

Were there 48 survivors of the crash or 48 people from when Hurley did the census? Because if it was from the census then the turbine guy and the pilot might not count, right?

There was different scenes filmed that weren't in the episode. In last week's preview, it showed Shannon yelling at Jack to not let Boon die. It wasn't in this episode and Shannon didn't even find out until well after Boon died.
OK, what was the point of that flashback? It didn't really do anything. Now it requires another flashback for Jack to show what happened to Jack's wife. The flashbacks seem to be adding more info on these characters than what is really needed. It's like the writers can't come up with enough story on the island so they waste time in flashbacks.

it was background to show how committed Jack is. How he obsesses over what he is doing, and can't stop/let go. How he went through with his wedding even though he probably didn't really love her. That's the gist I got from it.
