I thought this episode was terrible, horribly slow paced, no back story of note, and nothing happened.
We knew claire would have the baby.
Someone was going to die, would it be boone or not?
I think we need to get back to the secondary characters again, and away from Jack, this is the Jack show with occasional other characters, and he's my least favourite.

edit: I suppose it goes along with the title - doctors are supposed to do no harm, but jack gets so caught up trying save people that he harms himself and probably them - the follow-up on his marriage may have to do with his lack of love for her leads to more pain than the car accident that put her in his care and he was so intense about saving boone that he was pretty much going to hack boone up when he really needed to do what he eventually did, let boone go.

BooneNow come to Shannon in a dream and tell her what is in the hatch.

I don't know why people are so obsessed with keeping track of how many flashbacks characters get. They get as many as they need, dependent on how the story develops. Jack is one of the main characters, as far as I'm concerned, so he deserves the most character time.
I didn't see having Boone die as cheap or easy; he was mortally injured, and there was no way he would have survived that accident. Having anyone else die instead of Boone would have been a cheap way to make a twist.
I'm really surprised, and a little pissed, that they didn't show anything of what Locke was up to. I assume they're saving that for the next episode, but the cliffhanger last week was so killer, I was just waiting to see what is in the container.

I was glad his dad showed up (and didn't steal a kidney)

He was in the nose of a plane that did a nose dive into the forest floor. He was doomed. Not to mention he seems to be Locke's sacrifice to get the hatch open.Anyone think the car accident that Jack's wife was in, was caused by a depressed John Locke, recently duped and dumped by his parents? Hmmm.

Sawyer seemed out of character tonight, giving up part of his stash without a complaint and then grinning at the newborn.
After Kate fell, I think there was exactly 42 pieces of broken glass in the backpack! OMFG!!!!11!!
I was definitely waiting for Ed to ride up on a white horse during the wedding. I guess Jack was Doctor Jackass.

I didn't think they had it in them to kill off one of the more main characters (like Desparate Housewives when they said they were killing off a main character). Glad to see it happen. Not because I dislike Boone, more because now I have no idea what to expect from the show. When it was unfolding I was spouting the typical things, "They can't kill him, he's one of the main characters." I was wrong. WTG Lost! One of few stumping shows on TV.

I was really disappointed with this episode. We get another peak at the Jack backstory, without resolving what happened to his wife. Granted, it did parallel the story of the episode, but I wanted to know what happened with his wife.
If I had to pick someone to die, it would be Boone. He was by far my least liked character, and was in no way someone that I would consider a main character. He was Boone's lackey and Shannon's keeper. His death was telegraphed last week, so there was no element of surprise.
I think that they should have killed Charlie when they had the chance. Since his miraculous recovery, he hasn't had much to do. Should he had remained dead, it would be been a complete shock, and would have furthered the atmosphere of fear surrounding Ethan.
No Locke this episode
Very little Sawyer
Sun getting a bigger role
Sun and Jin communicating again

I was conflicted with this episode: on the one hand, everything that happened was predictible. On the other, it all had to happen.
But, it certainly set up nicely for what's to come (based on the previews).

Not sure if it has been posted elsewhere, but the two hour season finale of Lost is going up against the two hour season finale of American Idol. I know which one I'll be watching....
