It's a different kind of buffoonery. Carell just seems off to me in the way he plays to the camera, it's just not as 'smooth' or subtle as Gervais's performance. Carell's Michael Scott barely appears to be able to rise above being the village idiot at times. Again, Michael feels more like a caricature than a character.

I thought this was the best one yet. The Jim/Dwight interaction was great.
"I thought you said it was a workspace"
and the whole, calling Jim on the phone while he was locked in there and Jim clicking over to talk to Pam who is sitting 5 feet away.
Launching the ice cream bar at the window was classic as well.
"Can I fire Jim?"
"Who is this?"
"Dwight, Mr. Scott put me in charge today"
classic.

"He'll have to come out sometime, to use the bathroom."
"That's not appropriate, Kevin."
That got a laugh from me, because I work with someone who is overly sensitive of stupid comments just like that one.

.Coincidentally, I think I'm developing a thing for Angela (the character who got offended).

Oh, and I also cracked up at "Count Choculitis", demonstrating that I have zero consistency in the type of humor I enjoy.

Just another post to say I also thought this episode was the best one so far. This one moved The Office to being a regular watch for me. I laughed many times. I loved the BBC version, but this one is starting to grow on me. Aside from Dwight making the conference room his office, it all felt original to me.

I loved the bathroom bit too, and yeah, that woman that was offended by that comment is kinda hot.
The whole mine elevator conversation was great. "So it's not a freefall?"

The US version has much better one-liners than the UK version. The last two weeks have had several gut-busting lines. I still think that the boss character is a creep in this version rather than an arrogant buffon.

Overall , was my favorite episode this season so far. Great lines and dialog let it move well for me. Had that feeling from the bbc episode when Gareth has to investigate the "picture" that worked around the office. Had some of that feel to it.

Add me to the "not feeling it" group. It started out painfully slow and unfunny, but picked up as it went along. I agree with the "1 ball, 2 strikes" comment.
Based on the ratings, the decision to continue watching might be made for me.
