When Martina McBride did "Independence Day" it was about abuse; however, the right-wing (I think Shawn Hannity) took the song as their own as an anthem for the Iraq stuff.

I have a toothachce can someone get me what Paula is on, it must be some good stuff for her to love Anwar's performance.

2. If you are underwhelmed this Season, last year must have been painful. There were only 2 good singers last year.
-Last night showed how bad the 90's were for songs. 90's and 2000's are the worst decades ever for music.
-The week before they were able to sing any #1 hit. Most came from the 70s or early 80s, and they sound great becuase they had great songs to sing.
3. From last night, Carrie and Vonzell would be the last 2 standing. I thought they were great.
4. What is Paula on? She did not hear the same songs the rest of the country heard.

I voted for Anthony Federov to get booting in the poll because I think he will, but the worst one is without a doubt Constantine. He shouldn't have even made the top twelve. I don't know what the voters see in that guy. It's surely not his singing.

Its obvious. Last week he did the David Cassidy song. This week, everyone expects him to do a 90's metal song and he sings a sappy ballad and gives puppy dog eyes. Whoever is giving advice is telling him what he needs to WIN this thing. Early on, he discovered that the rock thing wouldn't win it for him with Bo around.
I personally think anthony is the worst and I have to say that Nadia is moving down the list for me. Two weeks ago she was fantastic but lately she sucked doing Cyndi Lauper and Melissa Etheridge. I'm not sure what to make of her but she gets a big yawn from me.

Man that Carrie Underwood is HEAD AND SHOULDERS above everyone else. It isn't even a comparison (though Vonzelle was really good last night).
I voted for Anwar --- that song made me want to cry aloud like a girl.

Bo - Not good at all. I really like Bo, but this was easily his worst performance. That songs normally rocks, and I know Bo can rock the hell out of a song, but his rendition just had no energy at all. Maybe it was the band's fault or there was something wrong with the production, I don't know.
Jessica - Again, probably her worst. I didn't care for the song. While it wasn't really bad, per se, it just didn't excite me at all.
Anwar - His weaknesses are starting to become really exposed. He was once a front runner but now I'd be surprised if he makes it to the final six.
Nadia - Her voice wasn't the best, but she just has that star thing down. She's got the look and the energy. I enjoy her performances even if she stumbles on the vocals, and I usually don't say that.
Constantine - Competent, I suppose. I imagine he's trying to distance himself from the rock thing since Bo pretty much has the 'rock vote' sealed up. He's not as terrible at it as I would imagine, but I don't think he should completely divorce himself from rock.
Nikko - He came out a mess, but ended well. He's pretty good at the whole Usher-style R&B thing, but mainly because he can mimic the vocal mannerisms and tricks of that style well. When he tries more conventional material his voice is exposed as kind of unimpressive.
Anthony - He's consistently 'not bad' IMO, but I agree there's just not a recording future for him.
Carrie - Vocally she did well, but all her country performances soudn the same to me. Maybe it's because I'm not really familiar with the material, or maybe she's just super consistent. I don't know. But she's in danger of her performances becoming 'same old, same old'.
Scott - He just goes for the same sounding thing each week. I can't even remember half the songs he's performed so far. He has a nice enough voice, but whatever.
Vonzell - Excellent. The Idols doing Whitney has become something of a cliche, but she brought some life to this. I enjoyed it a lot even though I'm not a big fan of that song.

I think it is pretty obvious that the producers want Bo to win it this year. Otherwise why would they make the themes so broad? Where is Mannilow night? Miami Sound Machine? Motown? Disco? They are making it very easy for a one genre rocker to win. They want someone different and Bo is their pick.
I believe this is also the reason that Simon slams Anthony every week. He is not nearly as bad as Simon makes out but they don't want another Clay. Granted he isn't the best but Simon rakes him over the coals every week regardless of how he does.

Land of Confusion puppets? Anyone figure out who each puppet was supposed to be?
Incidentally, does anyone remember that show with all the Kroft puppets? That shit was funny.

and nadia gets another reprieve.. her days are numbered though
down to jessica or anwar... my guess would be jessica.. and that would lead us back to the idea that 3, 4, or 5 women could be gone before the first guy.. I was joking when i said that.. But it definitly could happen

Remember all that moaning and groaning about face time during the audition episodes, it definitely help launch some staunch fanbases, and the big deal Fox made of Scott early on, I think, has helped him along.

I can't believe that Scott was not in the bottom 3 tonight. At least I hope he performs better next week.

No matter what they claim, the contestants that they focused on during the auditions are going to go in with an advantage -- Scott, Connie, Anwar, Anthony, Carrie.
Unless they come on particularly strong early, like Bo, the ones who weren't covered during the auditions are going to be struggling.

Seems like she has "soft" support out there, and probably won't go the distance. I'm starting to think that the top four might look like Connie, Carrie, Bo, and Scott.
So far, Scott's missed the bottom three, so it seems like he does have fans out there. Mikalah got booted after two times in the bottom three; same with Jessica; so far, Nadia's been there twice and squeaked by, so I think she might be going next week or the week after. (I thought she was going to be a goner this week, actually, even though she gave a good performance.)
My prediction for the next few eliminations (in order):
Anthony
Nadia
Anwar (unless he can really start kicking ass)
Vonzell/Nikko
Nikko/Vonzell
Leaving us with Connie, Bo, Carrie, and Scott.
Scott goes next...
And then either Bo or Connie...
Leaving a "rocker" vs. Carrie.

Jessica getting the boot is a mild surprise but from here on out, I believe the order of elimination will contain some surprises. The thing about Jessica is that she is every bit as good as Diana was last year. In fact she kind of reminds me of her (maybe it is the multiple chins).
Another parallel to last year is Anwar George. George started strong and was an early favorite and then inexplicably began screwing up every week. On his 3rd bad performance ina row, he was gone. Anwar is moving down that same path. If he doesn't improve, he will be gone in a couple of weeks.
Anthony and Scott continue to defy the naysayers. I still think Anthony has a solid base of pre-teen girls and these are the folks that vote 200 times each week. He may go far in spite of Simon's attempts to oust him.
