Re: Grey's Anatomy -- "Elevator Love Letter" -- 3/26/09

The actress' name is Molly Hagan.

I cracked it about 30 mins ago, but had to put my son to bed. Thanks LD for confirming, 'cause IMDB lists SKOW as one of her credits.

I've never seen ANYTHING this actress has been in. She's been in like 70-80 different TV shows, most of the time for just one or two episodes, then she's gone. For a few shows, she was apparently a regular ("Unfabulous" 2004-07, 25 eps. "Life's Work", 1996, 6 eps. "Herman's Head", 1991-94, 71 episodes) but none of those are things I ever watched.

None of this rings a bell at all. Maybe I dated her.

Follow-up: She played "Sister Roberta" in the Seinfeld episode "The Conversion". She was a Nun that Kramer "converted" out of the church. THAT'S probably where I know her from!

All these comments and not one about liking or not liking the ep.

I guess no one gives a shit about Izzie.

Grey's Anatomy--2 Hour Season Finale-- "Here's to Future Days/Now or Never"-- 5/14/09

Grey's Anatomy

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Season 5 finale: Izzie decides whether to undergo cancer surgery; Mark prepares to move forward with Lexie; Bailey learns whether she'll get her pediatric fellowship; George makes an announcement; and Owen makes a reassessment. Meanwhile, the doctors work as a team following an auto accident.

Hell, it's the season finale so why the hell not? Even though noone here has talked about this show in months. It will be interesting to see what happens with Izzie.

The whole Izzy banging a dead guy kind of deflated what little air was left in the balloon of this show that Season 4 didn't already deflate. Still, I was surprised that nobody started a thread for the 100th episode last week.

I don't have high hopes for this finale. Although the naked lesbian pizza scene was really hot for some reason. But they found yet another way to keep Derek and Meredith a step apart, and it's really getting old.

Get them married, kill Izzy, have George leave, give us more naked lesbian pizza eating, and you have a good start. Have McKidd make a leap back in time...oh wait, wrong show.

Not to threadcrap, but every ad for this episode makes me laugh. They've literally taken every soap cliche and crammed it into one, 2 hour episode. If Izzy's love interest winds up being her brother, it'll be cemented.

Anyone watch? Kind of a twist at the end.

I seen that one coming. I still thought it was better than the rest of the season.

At least they made Heigl earn her departure from the show with all the cliched medical storylines. TR, OTOH, was summarily dismissed. I am very ambivalent about tuning in next season.

I thought the George storyline was pretty lame. Saw the twist coming after the first 30 seconds. ER did it years ago.

Spoiler:
Last I heard, Heigl was coming back next season. Hopefully she won't be a hallucination from Karev's brain tumor.

Pretty cliched but still interesting. The scene between Bailey and the Chief was excellent but that could just be because they are my two favorite characters. I hope that George returns but Izzy stays gone. If the patient signs a DNR you have to respect that.

Pretty good finale. I didn't even think that John Doe was George. Man totally unrecognizable (to me at least)

Here's a interview with Shonda regarding the show and the finale.

http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/05/...ive-greys.html

I hate the way she comes off in that interview, like a snob.

I didn't realize it until the end either - because I didn't even realize George was absent the second hour.

When they revealed it at the end, I was like wait, haven't we seen George since the bus victim was brought in? It took me a minute to realize we hadn't, so I guess I didn't even miss him.

The first hour was just blah for me, and well most of the second hour was, but the ending made it worth it.

Yes - the guy crunched up by the bus turned out to be George and no one realized it until the end of the episode.

Considering he had been drug by a bus for some distance, it wouldn't be a surprise if his clothing had shredded along the way and his wallet was lost.

The police wouldn't have found it in the street?

I, personally, don't even carry a wallet. I rarely carry cash, so I usually only have my license and debit card with me. And, sometimes, if I do happen to have cash on me, and run down to the store to grab a paper (or something equally small), I won't even grab either of those two cards.

Personally I would just go to ABC.com and devote the time to watch it if you missed and you really care about finding out what happened.

I get no pleasure reading text about an episode when the video is so easily accessible.

And yet others of us would prefer a quick synopsis that we can read in 30 seconds rather than devoting 2 hours to watching a show that has fallen so far.

If you feel the show has fallen so far, and are unwilling to spend two hours watching it... Why do you care what happens?

I, personally, use to watch Heroes. However, I gave it up early this season. For me, there were no redeeming qualities, so I stopped watching. I don't read recaps or try to find out any information about it.

I suppose I am merely asking you to explain the process behind your thoughts, as clearly there is little logic to them, beyond perhaps a curiousity of sorts.

Maybe I should have phrased it better. If Scott or anyone else here didn't watch the finale and missed several episodes in between, why would he or anyone else even care what happened in this episode? And why would you even want to know what happened if you think the show "has fallen so far"

That would be like someone watching episodes 1-11 of Heroes or Smallvile and say they sucked and I'm done with the show, but yet wants to find out what happened in the season finale in a short paragraph recap? Why the hell would you even care?

I don't mean to sound rude, but If I care enough about the show and missed the episode, I will look for the video and watch it whether it's 1 hour or 2 hours of my time that I have to dedicate to watch it.

I missed the first 20 minutes due to DVR error. Since the others are busy insulting you for wanting a shortcut, I guess you will have to settle for my summary. The individual story lines are entangled through the two hours, but in terms of major characters:

George is treating some soldier and is impressed. He goes off and enlists in the Army as a trauma doctor, without speaking to anyone. A "John Doe" gets hit by a bus trying to get a woman out of the way of the bus. It eventually turns out to be George, and he apparently dies at the end.

Christina and her crazy trauma surgeon boyfriend (Hunt?) seem to work some things out, go see his Mom, and are apparently back on.

Izzy goes back and forth on brain surgery, finally has it. After surgery, she has a short term memory problem causing much frustration for Alex. She gets her memory back, they kiss and make up, and she appears to die.

Both Izzy and George are cliffhangers. They were worked on for a while, the doctors could call it, or one more good jolt could jump-start them for another season if they take a big enough pay cut.

Derek and Meredith decide to go to City Hall in low key ceremony, but never make it there due to all above. They write their vows on a post-it note and call it good.

Bailey decides against the peds fellowship. Her husband gave her an ultimatum that he is leaving if she takes it. She is pissed at that, decides she's leaving him, but as single mom, can't take the time demands of the fellowship and will continue in general surgery.

Arizona and Callie, and Little Grey and Mark have on-again, off-again rocks in their relationships.

This show is highly marginal. I wish I could have read the above instead of wasting time watching it, and I may not be tuning in next year.
