Bow Wow.

jpdude 03-24-05 09:04 PM

I believe that Nadia IS all that good. This past week wasn't her best performance but all of her others have been very solid, stellar performances that have wowed the judges and made her one of the lead contenders in this competition.

I'm also a big Anthony Federov fan! I think he's much better than Nikko Smith, and ten times better than Scott Savol, who i just don't like at all. Scott's voice has yet to really impress me, he seems to have sort of an abrasive personality, and i just can't stand to look at him. Anthony is a much nicer guy, easier on the eyes, and could easily out-do Scott in record sales.

I really, really like Bo, (and i'm kinda rooting for him and Carrie in the final showdown).....BUT, i'm much more likely to buy one of Anthony's records (versus Bo's) because I'm more into his style of mainstream, pop music.

Jray 03-24-05 09:05 PM

Wow, all of a sudden everyone is a Nadia hater. I think she's probably the second best female singer, after Carrie, in this competition.

Thank God Mikalah is gone. I gotta give her credit though - she was graceful in losing and kept her head up. I like her attitude and charisma even though she can be grating sometimes.

Exactly! What's up with all this sudden Nadia backlash? I totally agree with Jray!

Heat 03-24-05 09:09 PM

Right before Mikalah began singing, they showed her back from an angle.

Was that a tattoo over her ass? Anybody Tivo the show and can check on that? Just wondering, thought you had to be 18 to get tattoos?

MahatmaPetey 03-24-05 09:12 PM

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

a thousand dancing bananas wouldn't express my joy that Mikalah's gone.

MahatmaPetey 03-24-05 09:12 PM

tattoo age depends on the state, i believe.

FantasticVSDoom 03-24-05 09:13 PM

If Nikko doesnt go soon, Ill have to stop watching the show. I agree it was Mikalah's time to go this week, but he is awful. This year's show is interesting because I think they have the 2 best singers they have ever had, and some of the worst.

Hmm, didn't know that. I recall him talking about how he came to this country at age 6, had to learn English, and now he's come this far (singing in English).

Damn, that's a shame. I spent a good amount of time writing that post, and that was probably the only time I was that informal. Not that I need to validate myself, but I guess that's what happens when you're listening to too much Paula and Randy. Oh, well.

Oh, man. A little dissapointed that I read this without watching the results show yet. (I'm on the west coast.) I had a feeling she'd be gone anyway.

Nadia is one of my favorite performers, for her poise and style on stage. Her voice isn't bad, but I can't say it rivals Carrie or Vonzell's. To be honest, although she isn't my favorite all-around performer (maybe because of song selection, I don't know), I think she has the best natural singing voice. She seems to hit some of the notes effortlessly.

I do like Carrie, though. And she may usurp Vonzell as the best vocalist, imo, as the show goes on. They seem to shine on certain songs more than others.

I disagree. I thought she was better tonight than she was Tuesday. If she sung like she did tonight on Tuesday (and the audience look past her annoying personality and judged performances on a week to week basis) she would not be in the bottom three, IMO.

That would have been Nadia, Anwar (why do people like this guy - he is not all that. Boring, repetitive, and only has his supposed "high note" stature because of every loving Paula), and <strike>the white dude (don't remember his name)</strike> Nikko - with Nadia going home.

Patman 03-24-05 09:31 PM

Scott's part of the group song was unintentionally hilarious, where did those notes come from when he started singing? The same goes to Constantine's overwrought "vocals".

you must have missed the part where they were constantly reminding us that the doctors said he would probably never be able to speak at all...
ok, interesting story the first time they said it.. but it seemed like they were forcing it down our throat for awhile..
i thought he was pretty good in the auditions..
but each week, he goes lower and lower in my book.. Same with nadia though

anthony and nadia are the exact opposite of scott.. They have the look and intangibles, but dont have the voice for this... Where scott has the vocals, but his image is going to turn most people off.. He shoudl survive awhile on his voice alone though.

Wow, yeah, I definitely missed it. I think I missed a couple of the episodes before they reached the final 12. I just read updates on here, on those occassions. So, yeah, didn't even hear about that at all.

I agree with your assessment on Nadia and Anthony being the opposite of Scott. I like Nadia more, on song selections alone. Although Nadia has certainly been off-key on more than one occasion, it seems like Anthony is consistently like this on most of his song selected verses. With Nadia, she had at least one memorable performance -- "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me".

For Anthony, I think he's got the "nice guy" appeal that the read-headed guy from last season (forgot his name) had. I don't know how far that will take him, though.

One of the reason I did not vote for her last night was that she "Wore her hair for her budy Mario". I cannot believe that is the real reason, she must have come up with that reason between shows. I did think that her hair was perfect for singing an 80's song.

I bet that lost her votes from other fans for the Mario (Sore winner) comment.

moocher 03-24-05 10:17 PM

Well, I must be in the minority but I think the group song this week wasn't bad - much better than last week. I thought most everyone (even Mikalah) sang their parts pretty well.

Another minority opinion: Now that Mikalah is gone, that is the last of the "no talents" left in the competition. Yes, even Constantine has grown on me. (I think it took major balls to pick that Partridge song and he did it well.) From here on out, a talented singer will be leaving.

We never reached this point last year. I mean Jasmine Trias was in the top 3, yikes!! Micalah was better than her (slightly). I don't think either of the final two from last year would have been in the top 5 this year. Leah Labelle, Matt Rogers, JPL, John Stevens, Camille Velasco, Jasmine Trias. All no talent hacks. The rest other than Latoya London were merely average.

This is a good year for AI.

Groucho 03-24-05 10:39 PM

Looks like I'll be voting for Nadia next week. She wasn't great this week, but she didn't deserve to be in the bottom 2.

TheGodfather 03-25-05 12:57 AM

If Fran Drescher and Minnie Driver had a baby it would be Mikalah. This is a good thing to me because I find each of those women hot in their own right. I understand I'm in the minority here but alot of my friends like her too.

Seems I'm also in the minority with this one too but: I don't think it's fair hating on Mario Vazquez for signing a record deal (if that's in fact what he did). It's like a H.S. basketball player going pro. Did LeBron James need college? Obviously not. Should we fault him for going and getting paid and getting the best deal he could ASAP? Yea Vazquez used Idol to expose his talent. So did everyone else who ever tried out for Idol including it's winners. You think Clarkson's goal was to be on TV for a season or to have a career singing for her whole life? She left the clutches of Idol the first chance she had. LeBron didn't take a chance on getting injured in college and losing his livelihood and took big money right away. Vazquez didn't take a chance on losing the competition and when someone threw money at him he took it. I would too.

That's how I see it anyway. If I'm missing the point I wish someone would explain it to me. If it's about loyalty to the show that's just laughable to me. Vazquez opting for the bigger, or quicker money is capitalism at it's best. God bless America!!

rkndkn 03-25-05 01:59 AM

I'm in the camp that thinks Mario is an opportunist and what he did was wrong. At that stage of the competition, you have made a commitment -- others could have had your spot. And the irony is that many of his supporters spent many hours (and text messaging fees) to support him, only to see him drop out. Yet he expects these same fans to be there for him when his CD comes out. I hope it flops. (I was never a fan of his, find him highly overrated in talent, and his actions only make him seem like an ingrate.)

in the middle of the season
thats what makes alot of people feel ripped off.. although I think it was a terrible move for him.. Maybe he'll have as much success as O-Town.. or that shitty band P Diddy put together for season 2.. Or the one he is currently working on, that doesnt have a single person that would have made it past the auditions of AI..
diddy finally realized that neither he, nor his talent scouts, had enough brains to find anyone with any talent on their own.. So they had to go and steal from another show.

mphtrilogy 03-25-05 07:47 AM

Where would Mario be without Idol? He had some loyalty to the process, if he thought he could have made it on his own, then he should have skipped the show.

But the media is so desperate for stories, they gave this guy more publicty than he could ever have hoiped for when he would be the 5th or 6th guy eliminated. Every article I read said he was the favorite to win the thing. What?? Anyone watching knew he would be in amajor dogfight with Carrie, Bo, Anwar and company. He was deintely not the favorite. But he leaves untouched and can now enjoy ridiculous publicty.

Still, there are bad feelings. he should have odne what Clay did, ride it out, if you don't win, play it out for a year, then get out of your contract.

He will be a nobody for many years to come. If he stayed on idol, he had a chance to have a career.

It seemed like the wireless mic pack, but it was hard to tell. The shot of her back was pretty fleeting.

EDIT: http://www.amiannoyingornot.com/(mtq...&collection=-1 says she has a lower back tattoo. They also say she's a "*** Hag (Women Loved by Gay Men)" and I SOOOOOOO have to differ!

I agree it was a stupid move. He now has people that don't like what he did and the last thing you need nowadays is a hostile public. The view that he's more opportunist than talent could stick with him for some time. It's tough to win back respect. Not impossible, but tough.

I'm all for loyalty and if he wants to bite the hand that started to feed him then he deserves a short, mediocre singing career.

Anywho, I'm glad that Mikalah is gone. Her last few performances have been really really bad. She's young and her nerves got to her. I'm starting to think this is Carrie's competition to lose. There's some good talent left (unlike last season) and I think we're in for some good shows.
