This is kinda fun. Makes me want to watch alias, to see they hype. But from all the posts, I think theKing has it right.

As far as spoilers go darkestPhoenix, everything I posted was in previews for the show. How about them Alias spoilers? I'm not to worried, both of them are 4 year old shows. I think being spoiler free at this juncture is a moot point.

Jack Bauer might be tormented by some of the choices he has to make (like Chappelle), but he still does them. Heck, he volunteered to be blown up by a nuclear bomb! He goes into battle highly outnumbered, and still ends up on top.

If you need someone dead, maybe you go to Bristow, but if you're in grave danger, and you need someone to help you fight off a small army, while also trying to keep his wife/daughter/girlfriend/city of Los Angeles out of harms way, you go to Bauer.
Oh. My. Stars. And. Garters.

I cannot believe you just posted that. Both these shows are great, but there is no comparison between the Jacks. First of all, Irina Derevko sought out Bristow because he was already established and high up on the intelligence food chain. Not the other way around. Jack didn't rise to the head of the CIA class because he was screwed over by his wife. Him being so highly decorated is a direct result of him getting the job done...all of which happened BEFORE he met Irina, so don't assert that he's only a cold-blooded bastard because of THAT.

Bauer is kind of a wimp, by comparison. Getting captured all the time, letting the bad guys go...I don't know. You just don't see that as much from Bristow. He'll kill the people to make sure they don't show up for season 2.

And, actually, I would say that in both your scenarios, I would have to go with Bristow. He does an excellent job of eliminating threats to anything and anyone he cherishes and/or considers an asset.

Once again, if you haven't seen Alias, it's impossible for you to really have an informed opinion. I would suggest you pick up Season 1. I guarantee you'll be buying S2 as soon as it's done. And a big reason I did was because of li'l ol' Jack Bristow. You need to watch man...seriously, Bristow's the biggest bad ass of them all.

She was hot.

Anyhew, back to the Jacks. Who has the bigger left ear? That is also the answer to the poll.

Let's see Jack Bauer do a stint on Will & Grace as the face of the Gay Channel....until then, Jack Bristow all the way.

It's a pretty accurate assertion. Was it established that he was a cold-blooded bastard before he met Irina? Being "high up on the intelligence food chain" just means he was a good agent. It's pretty clear that the bulk of Jack's ruthlessness comes from being betrayed by Irina.

Either way, I don't know. I don't watch either show, but they both look totally gay.

Don't you have some posts to catch up on regarding baseball bat line drives or something?

I don't consider a remorseless killer a badass.

I haven't watched much Alias, but from what I've seen Bristow seems to work from behind the scenes (as Tommy C mentions above).

I think Bauer is the bigger "bad ass".

Obviously you haven't watched much Alias - because Jack Bristow does everything not just the behind the scenes work. And we haven't even mentioned his little storage shed yet.

Is Jack Bristow an older guy? If I remember correctly, he's the father of Sydney. Is he very physical/active with bad guys and such? Just curious. I have season 1 on dvd just haven't watched it yet.

Only when necessary - he usually kills his adversaries before it gets that far.

I forget about Bristow's storage shed! He could take out all of CTU and still be back in time at APO to plan misdirections, dispense advice on how to kill their signifigant other, council those who have killed thier signifigant other, turn Nadia against Sloan, and kill anyone who looks at Sydney, all this before lunchtime.

If Michael had approached Bauer OR Bristow with a knife he would be gutted and buried before Boone had a chance to react.

Bauer only has a car with a little drawer of guns and fun stuff.

Jack Bristow has an entire storage unit of merciless torture/killing tools. God know how many bodies are in there, too.

Plus, Jack Bristow built the Titanic.

Bauer, if only for his Season 2 finale "Crouching Jack, Hidden Bauer" neck-snapping move in the L.A. Coliseum.

Plus he held up a Quickie Mart.
