Project Runway -- Appreciation Thread

The producers are really mixing it up this season! The looks on the designers' faces were priceless when they saw Vincent and Angela walk into the room. I still can't believe they brought them back like that. I'm just glad they both are gone again or I don't know if I'd be able to finish the season having a deserving designer leave over their second chance.
I can't believe Jeffrey actually thought his design was good. Maybe without the leggings it wouldn't have been too bad. I think part of the appeal of his designs is he has the cutest model and she really knows how to work the runway.

Well, Kanye shot himself in the foot this challenge. Angela outright asked...black or white/or black AND white? It clearly had to be both, and that little last minute ribbon on the back did not qualify.. too bad, that dress was not that bad and would have had potential if the details were in white. Jeffrey just has not an ounce of elegance to him..WOuld have loved to see him go out on the same task as Angela..and then did the cab ride out, ala Apprentice style. LOL..
Michael is clearly the most talented designer on that stage...if I was 20 years younger and a few (!) pounds thinner, I would love to wear anything that he designed! I hope he takes it all!
So Final 3? Laura, Michael and Uli?
I think next week Jeffrey is Rocking out of town
unless Uli makes the same dress/design ...different pattern/colors next task.

Don't you people understand that Uli lives in Florida? She is forced to design everything that way!

Kayne annoyed me for some reason. I think it originated with that one challenge where they had to pitch an idea, and he said something like "I love using color, I'm from the south".
As if that explained anything. I'm from the south too, and I don't really see what one has to do with the other. He might as well have said "I love mangos, I'm from Canada". Oh, those poor northerners wouldn't know what to do with magenta if it hit them in the face.
This show is the ultimate at the "making up rules as they go along" style of reality show, at least this season anyway. The models have different rules almost every week, with none of the criteria for who gets eliminated based on how well they model, and they can eliminate or add back any number of design contestants each week, have the challenges be any length and about making anything, and they basically design the challenges to keep the contestants on their heels the whole time so they never know what to expect. Someone could be eliminated for their shoddy garbage bag workmanship, but brought back because they won the chicken bone challenge earlier.
Yet I still watch.

Not sure if anyone already posted this, but is the final show going to air this week? And, are all four of them going to be presenting at Fashion Week, then??
I didn't quite understand how they ended up with 4 people in the end as opposed to the 3 they usually do?

However.... since Fashion Weeks occurs prior to the show's finale, the last four contestants always present their collections in order to conceal the judges' decision of the "final three".

That's interesting that they let the final four each make a collection, but only air the three finalist's. I wonder if Tim Gunn even vists the fourth place designer during the time they have to make the collections. You'd think it'd make more sense for them to air the episodes earlier and have the episode where the 4th place is eliminated before fashion week. Maybe they use the 4th place designer as a back-up in case something happens to one of the other designers during the collection-making phase of the program.

I forgot to tape it last night but a co-worker said there wasn't a new episode. True? TV Guide said there was a new one this week.
I saw some of the collection pix and Michael's were definitely the weakest.
Laura's looked the best w/Tattoo neck second and Uli third.

Wow, I was really sweating that Michael wasn't going to make it! Uli & Laura's dresses were gorgeous. Michael and Jeffrey were way off the mark. Still pulling for Michael all the way though.

I thought Michael's was OK, but Jefferey's was way too frumpy looking. His model can usually make anything of his look good, but there was nothing she could do to save it this time.

"Runway" Sews Up Another Scandal
Tuesday October 3 5:47 PM ET
By Gina Serpe
It's all right there in the tagline: Heidi Klum cuts, the designers sew.
Except, of course, when it seems the designers don't actually sew and instead outsource the production of their garments to hired hands, as is the allegation among contestants heading into Project Runway's third-season finale.
The accusations of cheating are the second demi-scandal to hit the catwalk this season, and were leveled at final four contestant Jeffrey Sebelia by fellow designer Laura Bennett.
Last month, the four remaining wannabes--Sebelia, Bennett, Michael Knight and Uli Herzner--showed their collections at New York Fashion Week, at which point Bennett, a red-headed mother of five, accused the rock 'n' roll designer of cheating by obtaining outside help to stitch together his frocks.
According to New York Magazine, the accusations came about after the two designers' mothers became friendly during the months in which the final four were no longer being filmed and instead were working on their collections.
During those months, Parsons School of Design fashion chair, Project Runway designer mentor, and all-around scene-stealer Tim Gunn visited each designer to check up on the progress. It apparently got back to Bennett, via the mother grapevine, that Gunn told Sebelia he "had a lot of work to do."
Three weeks later, the foursome reconvened at Bryant Park, at which point Sebelia's collection was, in Bennett's eyes, suspiciously well made, especially considering his signature deconstructed style and the condensed amount of time he had to turn the collection around, leading her to accuse the 36-year-old of calling in extra hands, a violation of the show's rules that could lead to disqualification if proved true.
"We took the accusation very seriously, and we did a very intense and thorough investigation," Gunn told New York Magazine, declining to reveal the verdict of the so-called scandal and thus potentially spoil the season-ender.
"His collection was very ambitious," he added. "I wasn't born yesterday."
For his part, Sebelia has lashed out at the allegations--and those who reported on them--in a posting to his MySpace page, after a commenter brought up the rumors.
"Thanks for your concern," Sebeilia wrote. "But all I have to say is be careful of what you read and also of what is presented in the press.
"Those people take any information they get (usually unfounded rumors) and just print them in order to bolster their own readership with no regard to the person they might be slandering.
"They are just doing their job as bottom feeding, sludge dredging, no-life having journalists."
We'll take that as a denial.
Should Sebelia, who has run the successful clothing line Cosa Nostra out of Los Angeles for several years, be found guilty of cheating, it would be the second such instance of designer subterfuge this season.
Just a week after the season premiere became the most watched show in Bravo's history, eagle-eyed fans took to Internet message boards, opining on how the designs contestant Keith Michael submitted in order to earn his spot on the show bore a striking resemblance to fashions from established designers' recent collections. And they had the screen grabs to prove it.
The early frontrunner defended the submission as a "a research assignment" and claimed he never presented the designs as his own work. Regardless, it was soon moot as he was kicked off several episodes later for breaking the show's rules by being in possession of design books, a definite no-no.
He got the boot after being ratted out by fellow competitor Kayne Gillespie.
"The kind of sad part is that I never used those books to give myself any unfair advantage," Michael said at the time. "I am disappointed. I would have made it to the end, I'm pretty sure."

Well, it seems like the winner (Jeffrey) isnt causing much buzz, especially since he had been accused of cheating. Guess they must have been real sure he was cleared. I was a little disappointed with his win, only because I think he was pretty nasty all season long, but I think he had a worthy collection.
My pick would have been Uli...her designs were amazing, and if I was built like a toothpick, I would love to wear them.
Laura's collection was predictable.
Michael had the biggest fall from grace since Mark Foley. He did a complete 180 and put out a pretty trashy collection. I had my hopes on him during the season, but no way could he have taken the top honors with that collection.
